Exposure to fine ambient particulate matter (PM2.5) is known to be associated with cardiovascular disease. To uncover the molecular mechanisms involved in cardiovascular toxicity of PM2.5, we investigated alterations in the protein profile of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) treated with PM2.5 using two-dimensional electrophoresis in conjunction with mass spectrometry (MS). A total of 31 protein spots were selected as differentially expressed proteins and identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight (MALDI-TOF) MS. The results demonstrated that DNA damage and cell apoptosis are important factors contributing to PM2.5-mediated toxicity in HUVECs. It is further proposed that PM2.5 can inhibit superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and increase reactive oxygen species (ROS) and malonaldehyde (MDA) production in a concentration-dependent manner. Induction of apoptosis and DNA damage through oxidative stress pathways may be one of the key toxicological events occurring in HUVECs under PM2.5 stress. These results indicated that the toxic mechanisms of PM2.5 on cardiovascular disease are related to endothelial dysfunction.  相似文献

Air pollution has become the predominant environmental problem caused by rapid industrialization and urbanization in China. In this study, measurements of the concentrations of PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, CO, and O3 at six monitoring stations in Baotou, China were used to investigate the characteristics of heavy haze pollution in Dec. 12–25, 2013. Source locations of PM2.5 in Baotou were identified using satellite remote sensing data, an air mass trajectory model, and a conditional probability function (CPF). The results showed that the average concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 were (113.8±84.0) μg/m3 and (211.1±149.2) μg/m3, respectively. The similar trends in temporal variation of the air pollutants PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, and CO suggested they may share common sources. The results of satellite observations and backward trajectories supported the hypothesis that the pollutants causing the haze event originated mainly from local anthropogenic sources. According to the CPF analysis, low-speed winds from the south and southwest, upwind industrial emissions, and the northern mountains were mainly responsible for the formation of haze in Baotou. The study provides some insights to help governments optimize industrial layouts for improving air quality in the future.  相似文献

A part of the heavy metals in estuary and coastal zone occurs naturally in the environment; the other part is due to human activity; so the directly measured concentration of heavy metal does not automatically indicate anthropogenic enrichment. Fe2O3 was used in this study as conservative tracer to distinguish natural components from anthropogenic components of heavy metal sediment concentration in the Zhujiang estuary. Compared with clay and Al2O3, Fe2O3 is more suitable as reference element. The final results showed that two zones in the Zhujiang estuary were seriously contaminated by heavy metals. One nearby the Humen mouth; the other around the west coast of the estuary. The horizontal distribution of heavy metals indicates that Zn, Ni and Cu have wider contaminating areas than TiO2, V and Cr in the estuary.  相似文献

Systematic studies of the transport properties of La0.67Ca0.33Mn1?xFe x O3 (x=0–0.3) systems showed that with increasing Fe-doping contentx the resistance increases and the insulator-metal transition temperature moves to lower temperature. For small doping content, the transport property satisfies metal transport behavior below the transition temperature, and above the transition temperature it satisfies the small polaron model. This behavior can be explained by Fe3+ doping, which easily forms Fe3+?O2??Mn4+ channel, suppressing the double exchange Mn3+?O2??Mn4+ channel and enhancing the spin scattering of Mn ions induced by antiferromagnetic clusters of Fe ions.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of nanocrystalline Fe60 Cr40 powders prepared by mechanical alloying in vacuum and air were investigated by utilizing the measurements of magnetization, X-ray diffraction, and ^67Fe M(oe)ssbauer spectrum. The results show that the Fe60 Cr40 powders keep the bcc structure during milling in air and vacuum. The saturation magnetization of the Fe60 Cr40 powders milled in vacuum and air decreases with the increase of the milling time up to 45 h. The decrease of saturation magnetization of the Fe60Cr40 powders milled in vacuum is due to the formation of Fe-Cr solid solution, while in air it is due to the formation of paramagnetic disorder structure and solid solution.  相似文献

Surface morphologies of Zr52.5 Al10 Ni10 Cu15 Be12.5 bulk metallic glass after being rolled at both a temperature around T9 and near ( Tx - 50) K were investigated with a scanning electron microscopy. Macroscopic and microscopic observation results show that squamae, cracks, steps and wedges exist on the surface when the samples were rolled at temperatures around Ty. However, a smooth and fiat surface appears when the samples were rolled at temperatures near ( Tx - 50) K. These results indicate that the mode of deformation in the supercooled liquid region is a partially homogeneous flow at a temperature around T9, and a fully homogeneous one at temperatures near ( Tx - 50) K. According to the results, it is more feasible to roll the amorphous alloys at temperatures near ( Tx - 50) K to obtain parts with smooth and fiat surface.  相似文献

The behavior of schools of zebrafish (Danio rerio) was studied in acute toxicity environments. Behavioral features were extracted and a method for water quality assessment using support vector machine (SVM) was developed. The behavioral parameters of fish were recorded and analyzed during one hour in an environment of a 24-h half-lethal concentration (LC50) of a pollutant. The data were used to develop a method to evaluate water quality, so as to give an early indication of toxicity. Four kinds of metal ions (Cu2+, Hg2+, Cr6+, and Cd2+) were used for toxicity testing. To enhance the efficiency and accuracy of assessment, a method combining SVM and a genetic algorithm (GA) was used. The results showed that the average prediction accuracy of the method was over 80% and the time cost was acceptable. The method gave satisfactory results for a variety of metal pollutants, demonstrating that this is an effective approach to the classification of water quality.  相似文献

Ml0.7Mm0.3Ni3.7Co0.7Mn0.4Al0.2 nanocrystalline hydrogen storage materials are prepared by melt-spinning(MS).X-ray diffraction is used for the measurement of the nanocrystalline size.Compared to the electrode of polycrystalline alloys,the property of activation MH9metal hydride)electrode of the alloys with nanometer scale became worse and the inital discharge capacity decreased.It may be ascribed to the decrease of the total amount of rare earth metals and the increase of oxygen on the surface from the analysis of components of the alloys.After heat-treatment,the electrochemical performance of MH electrode of as-spun alloys could be improved,which could be attributed to the alleviation of the lattice strain.  相似文献

SO2, NO2, and PM10 are the major outdoor air pollutants in China, and most of the cities in China have regulatory monitoring sites for these three air pollutants. In this study, we developed a land use regression (LUR) model using regulatory monitoring data to predict the spatial distribution of air pollutant concentrations in Jinan, China. Traffic, land use and census data, and meteorological and physical conditions were included as candidate independent variables, and were tabulated for buffers of varying radii. SO2, NO2, and PM10 concentrations were most highly correlated with the area of industrial land within a buffer of 0.5 km (R2=0.34), the distance from an expressway (R2=0.45), and the area of residential land within a buffer of 1.5 km (R2=0.25), respectively. Three multiple linear regression (MLR) equations were established based on the most significant variables (p〈0.05) for SO2, NO2, and PM10, and R2 values obtained were 0.617, 0.640, and 0.600, respectively. An LUR model can be applied to an area with complex terrain. The buffer radii of independent variables for SO2, NO2, and PM10 were chosen to be 0.5, 2, and 1.5 kin, respectively based on univariate models. Intercepts of MLR equations can reflect the background concentrations in a certain area, but in this study the intercept values seemed to be higher than background concentrations. Most of the cities in China have a network of regulatory monitoring sites. However, the number of sites has been limited by the level of financial support available. The results of this study could be helpful in promoting the application of LUR models for monitoring pollutants in Chinese cities.  相似文献

The crystal form of TiO2 is a crucial focus of research on the photocatalytic degradation of gaseous pollutants by TiO2-based composite photocatalysts. To explore the synergistic effect of mixed crystalline TiO2 on gaseous organic-pollutant photocatalytic degradation, we synthesized a series of TiO2 nanoparticles with controllable phase ratios. We explored the role of the TiO2 phase ratio on the photocatalytic activity and degradation pathway in the photodegradation of 2-propanol (IPA). We estimated the crystallite size and crystal proportions of anatase and rutile by X-ray diffraction. We used the Brunauer–Emmett–Teller method to calculate the specific surface area and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy to characterize the surface chemistry of the samples. Our results show the photocatalytic activities of pure anatase and the sample with 8.6% rutile to be much better than those of the samples with a phase junction and pure rutile. As such, anatase is the better option for the study of photodegradation design and preparation of gas-phase organic pollutants.  相似文献

Electricity consumption increases rapidly with the rapid development of China. The environmental damage costs of electricity generation are very important for both policy analysis and the proper management of the environment. A method was developed in this work to estimate gross environmental damage costs according to emission inventory and environmental cost factors, and to extend the costs from provincial to national level with population density. In this paper, sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter less than 10 μm in diameter (PM10), and carbon dioxide (CO2) from fossil fired power plants over 6000 kW were selected as index pollutants to quantify the environmental costs of damages on human health and global warming. With the new developed method, environmental damage costs, caused by 3 types of fired power plants in 30 provinces and 6 economic sectors during the years 2000 to 2003, were evaluated and analyzed. It can be seen that the calculated total national environmental damage costs of electricity have rapidly increased from 94930.87×106 USD in 2000 to about 141041.39×106 USD in 2003, with an average annual growth rate of 14.11%. Environmental damage costs of SO2, NOx, PM10, and CO2 are 69475.69×106, 30079.29×106, 28931.84×106, and 12554.57×106 USD and account for 49.26%, 21.33%, 20.51%, and 8.90% of total environmental costs in fossil electricity generation, respectively. With regard to regional distribution, external costs caused by fossil electricity generation are mainly concentrated in the more populated and industrialized areas of China, i.e., the Eastern Central and Southeastern areas.  相似文献

Well-cubic perovskite lanthanum aluminate (LaAlO3) film on (110) silicon substrate was fabricated by sol-gel method with corresponding inorganic salts. Lanthanum acetate and aluminum acetate glacial acetic acid solutions were prepared via ligand exchange starting from lanthanum nitrate hexahydrate and aluminum nitrate hexahydrate after being refluxed. (CH3CO)2O removed nitrates and the crystallized H2O completely, acetylacetone (AcAc) was partially bidentated with metallic ion of the metallic acetates and formed La(OAc)3−x (AcAc) x which were hydrolyzed into La(AcAc)3−x(OH) x by adding 10 ml 0.4% methyl cellulose (MCL) solution. The La(AcAc)3−x (OH) x , polymerizing and combining with MCL, formed the LaAlO3 sol precursor with heteropolymeric structure and formed film easily. The epitaxial LaAlO3 film on Si(110) substrate was crystallized after being annealed in thermal annealing furnace for 650–750 °C/30 min. The morphologies and microstructures were characterized. The refractive index of the LAO film was 1.942 to 2.007; the dielectric constant and the dissipation factors were estimated to be 23–26 and 2.1×10−4−2.4×10−4 respectively. The chemisorption properties of N18O adsorption on TiO2(110) surface were investigated by experimental and theoretical methods. The results of temperature programmed desorption (TPD) indicated that the temperatures of the three desorption peaks of the main N2 molecules were at (low) temperature of 230 K, 450 K and (high) temperature of 980 K. This meant that N18O decomposed and recombined during the process of N2 desorption after N18O was exposed. Analysis of the stable combination and orbital theory calculation of the surface reaction of NO adsorption on the TiO2(110) cluster model showed that there was clear preference for the Ti-NO orientation.  相似文献

Nanostructures enhance phonon scattering and improve the figure of merit of thermoelectric materials. Nanosized CoSb3 skutterudite was synthesized by solvothermal methods using CoCl2 and SbCl3 as the precursors. A “two-step” model was suggested for the formation of CoSb3 based on the X-ray diffraction analysis. The first step is the formation of cobalt diantimonide in the earlier stage during the synthesis process. Diantimonide was then combined with antimony atoms to form the skutterudite structured triantimonide, CoSb3, in the later stage of the synthesis process as the second step. The synthesized CoSb3 powders consist of irregular particles with sizes of about 20 nm and sheets of about 80 nm. Using SnxTi1-xO2 as carriers, CuO/Sn0.9Ti0.1O2 and CuO/Sn0.7Ti0.3O2 catalysts with different loading amounts of copper oxide (CuO) were prepared by an impregnation method. The catalytic properties of CuO/Sn0.9Ti0.1O2 and CuO/Sn0.7Ti0.3O2 were examined using a microreactor-gas chromatography (GC) NO CO reaction system and the methods of BET (Brun- auer-Emmett-Teller), TG-DTA (themogravimetric and differential thermal analysis), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and H2-temperature programmed reduction (TPR). The results showed that NO conversions of Sn0.9Ti0.1O2 and Sn0.7Ti0.3O2 were 47.2% and 43.6% respectively, which increased to 95.3% and 90.9% at 6 wt% CuO loading. However, further increase in CuO loading caused a decrease in the catalytic activity. The nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherm and pore-size distribution curve of Sn0.9Ti0.1O2 and Sn0.7Ti0.3O2 represented type IV of the BDDT (Brunauer, Deming, Deming and Teller) system and a typical mesoporous sample. There were two CuO diffraction peaks (2θ 35.5° and 38.7°), and the diffraction peak areas increased with increasing CuO loading. TPR analysis also detected three peaks (α, β and γ) from the CuO-loaded catalysts, suggesting that the α peak was the reduction of the highly dispersed copper oxide, the β peak was the reduction of the isolated copper oxide, and the γ peak was the reduction of crystal phase copper oxide. In addition, a fourth peak (δ) of the catalysts meant that the SnxTi1-xO2 mixed oxides could be reductive.  相似文献

Objective

To evaluate the potential adjuvant effect of Agrocybe aegerita lectin (AAL), which was isolated from mushroom, against a virulent H9N2 strain in vivo and in vitro.

Methods

In trial 1, 50 BALB/c male mice (8 weeks old) were divided into five groups (n=10 each group) which received a subcutaneous injection of inactivated H9N2 (control), inactivated H9N2+0.2% (w/w) alum, inactivated H9N2+0.5 mg recombinant AAL/kg body weight (BW), inactivated H9N2+1.0 mg AAL/kg BW, and inactivated H9N2+2.5 mg AAL/kg BW, respectively, four times at 7-d intervals. In trial 2, 30 BALB/c male mice (8 weeks old) were divided into three groups (n=10 each group) which received a subcutaneous injection of inactivated H9N2 (control), inactivated H9N2+2.5 mg recombinant wild-type AAL (AAL-wt)/kg BW, and inactivated H9N2+2.5 mg carbohydrate recognition domain (CRD) mutant AAL (AAL-mutR63H)/kg BW, respectively, four times at 7-d intervals. Seven days after the final immunization, serum samples were collected from each group for analysis. Hemagglutination assay, immunogold electron microscope, lectin blotting, and co-immunoprecipitation were used to study the interaction between AAL and H9N2 in vitro.

Results

IgG, IgG1, and IgG2a antibody levels were significantly increased in the sera of mice co-immunized with inactivated H9N2 and AAL when compared to mice immunized with inactivated H9N2 alone. No significant increase of the IgG antibody level was detected in the sera of the mice co-immunized with inactivated H9N2 and AAL-mutR63H. Moreover, AAL-wt, but not mutant AAL-mutR63H, adhered to the surface of H9N2 virus. The interaction between AAL and the H9N2 virus was further demonstrated to be associated with the CRD of AAL binding to the surface glycosylated proteins, hemagglutinin and neuraminidase.

Conclusions

Our findings indicated that AAL could be a safe and effective adjuvant capable of boosting humoral immunity against H9N2 viruses in mice through its interaction with the viral surface glycosylated proteins, hemagglutinin and neuraminidase.

A skutterudite-related antimonide, CoFe3Sb12, was prepared with vacuum melting. XRD analysis showed the material contained Sb, FeSb2, CoSb2 and CoSb3 phases. The electrochemical properties of the ball-milled CoFe3Sb12−10 wt% graphite composite were studied using pure lithium as the reference electrode. A maximal lithium inserting capacity of about 860 mAh/g was obtained in the first cycle. The reversible capacity of the material was about 560 mAh/g in the first cycle and decreased toca. 320 mAh/g and 250 mAh/g after 10 and 20 cycles respectively.Ex-situ XRD analyses showed that the antimonides in the pristine material were decomposed after the first discharge and that antimony was the active element for lithium to insert into the host material. Diesel emission fluid (DEF) soaking and urea deposits on selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalysts are critical issues for real diesel engine NH3-SCR systems. To investigate the impact of DEF soaking and urea deposits on SCR catalyst performance, fresh Cu-zeolite catalyst samples were drilled from a full-size SCR catalyst. Those samples were impregnated with DEF solutions and subsequently hydrothermally treated to simulate DEF soaking and urea deposits on real SCR catalysts during diesel engine operations. Their SCR performance was then evaluated in a flow reactor with a four-step test protocol. Test results show that the DEF soaking leached some Cu from the SCR catalysts and slightly reduced their Cu loadings. The loss of Cu and associated metal sites on the catalysts weakened their catalytic oxidation abilities and caused lower NO/NH3 oxidation and lower high-temperature N2O selectivity. Lower Cu loading also made the catalysts less active to the decomposition of surface ammonium nitrates and decreased low-temperature N2O selectivity. Cu loss during DEF impregnation released more acid sites on the surface of the catalysts and increased their acidities, and more NH3 was able to be adsorbed and involved in SCR reactions at medium and high temperatures. Due to lower NH3 oxidation and higher NH3 storage, the DEF-impregnated SCR catalyst samples showed higher NO x conversion above 400 °C compared with the non-soaked one. The negative impact of urea deposits during DEF impregnation was not clearly observed, because the high-temperature hydrothermal treatment helped to remove the urea deposits.  相似文献

Vegetables are important constituents of the human diet. Heavy metals and nitrate are among the major contaminants of vegetables. Consumption of vegetables and fruits with accumulated heavy metals and nitrate has the potential to damage different body organs leading to unwanted effects. Breeding vegetables with low heavy metal and nitrate contaminants is a cost-effective approach. We investigated 38 water spinach genotypes for low Cd and nitrate co-accumulation. Four genotypes, i.e. JXDY, GZQL, XGDB, and B888, were found to have low co-accumulation of Cd (<0.71 mg/kg dry weight) and nitrate (<3100 mg/kg fresh weight) in the edible parts when grown in soils with moderate contamination of both Cd (1.10 mg/kg) and nitrate (235.2 mg/kg). These genotypes should be appropriate with minimized risk to humans who consume them. The Cd levels in the edible parts of water spinach were positively correlated with the concentration of Pb or Zn, but Cd, Pb, or Zn was negatively correlated with P concentration. These results indicate that these three heavy metals may be absorbed into the plant in similar proportions or in combination, minimizing the influx to aerial parts. Increasing P fertilizer application rates appears to prevent heavy metal and nitrate translocation to shoot tissues and the edible parts of water spinach on co-contaminated soils.  相似文献
