随着独立学院的规模越来越大,其师资力量也在不断壮大。虽然大部分大学英语教师学历和职称都上了一个台阶,但科研成果却很少,目前大多数独立学院都存在"重教学轻科研"的现象。影响独立学院大学英语教师科研的因素主要有:教学工作量大,学校科研管理机制不完善,缺乏科研团队和科研能力,缺少学术交流和学术氛围等。独立学院大学英语教师为提高科研能力,必须依托母体高校丰富的资源,走教学科研并重之路。而独立学院也需要引进学科带头人,建立科研团队,以加强教师的整体科研能力。  相似文献

"科教融合"是高等教育人才培养模式的创新,科教融合通过将科研应用于教学,在教学过程中应用知识、发现知识,进而实现教学和科研的结合、教学内容的更新迭代、教学方法的改革、以及人才培养模式的改革。本文结合教师幸福度、科教融合理念和实践编制调查问卷,问卷调查结果显示:受访教师的科教融合理念认可度较高,但是低于地方应用型本科高校均值,受访教师的科教融合实践活动教师参与度较低,实践动力不足。教龄、科研业绩、学生评教对教师幸福感有不同影响,随着教龄的递增,教师幸福感逐渐递减,科研业绩与教师幸福感正相关,学生评教对教师幸福感影响不显著。  相似文献

对某“双一流”高校大学英语教师进行的职业心态问卷调查和深度访谈结果表明,在大学英语课时压缩和校内对外语学科资源配置较弱背景下,大学英语教师整体收入相对较低、教学任务重,但精神状态好,职业满意度高;教学投入多,但教学成就感不强;教师科研投入少,科研成果少,但高学历教师科研投入大;教师对个人专业发展和课程未来信心较弱。教师发展需求不同,教师对提高教学技能和科研水平态度积极,年轻教师提升学历态度积极,高学历教师提升职称愿望更强。教师对学校政策认可度差,政策因素对教师发展影响力最大。文章建议学校要加大对外语学科的支持力度,制订合理的外语教学评价体系和职称晋升制度;学院做好教师发展规划,加强教学团队建设,提高教师教学成就感。  相似文献

本研究对江西省的391名公立中学教师的工作满意度进行了问卷调查,结果显示:(1)江西省大多数公立中学教师对工作基本满意,教师对校长领导、同事关系、教学工作也比较满意,对收入待遇和晋升认可则不够满意:(2)不同性别、学校规模的教师的教学满意水平存在显著差异;不同学校所在地教师的同事满意水平存在显著差异;不同年龄、性别、学校所在地、学校类型、学校规模的教师的收入满意水平存在显著差异;不同学校所在地教师的晋升满意水平存在显著差异;不同性别、学校所在地教师的整体满意水平存在显著差异。(3)在其它不同层面的不同情形下不存在显著差异。  相似文献

以赣南师范学院为例,结合学校实际情况自编问卷,从培养模式、教师素质、课程设置、实践教学等维度,对地方高校教学质量满意度进行了问卷调查。结果显示:(1)学生对地方高校教学质量总体评价较为满意。(2)满意度均值各一级指标中,满意度由高到低的顺序是:教师素质、教学管理、培养模式、基础设施、实践教学、课程设置。(3)被调查者的年级、专业因素、毕业就业意向对教学质量满意度有显著影响,性别和是否参加过科研的经历对教学质量满意度没有显著影响。  相似文献

Using data on 4 years of courses at American University, regression results show that actual grades have a significant, positive effect on student evaluations of teaching (SETs), controlling for expected grade and fixed effects for both faculty and courses, and for possible endogeneity. Implications are that the SET is a faulty measure of teaching quality and grades a faulty signal of future job performance. Students, faculty, and provost appear to be engaged in an individually rational but socially destructive game of grade inflation centered on the link between SETs and grades. When performance is hard to measure, pay-for-performance, embodied by the link between SETs and faculty pay, may have unintended adverse consequences.  相似文献

Previous research that tested the relationships between faculty performance in research, teaching, and service and faculty rewards has been inconclusive for several reasons. This case study of a large department at a midwestern research university examines these relationships. In this department, teaching quality was found to be a significant determinant of salary, though teaching quantity was not. While research, as measured by publications and presentations, had a significant effect on one year's salary increment, it did not affect salaries over several years. Administrative service was found to be significantly related to salary, as was public service. Implications of the study for research and practical applications of the methodology are examined.  相似文献

Codes of conduct for undergraduate teaching stipulate quality professional standards for teaching. Besides contributing to the safeguarding of student welfare, such codes are critical given the autonomy the professoriate has in the performance of its teaching role, the need for professional self-regulation, and research evidence linking positive teacher behaviors to student success. This study investigated the incidence of publicly-posted codes of conduct for undergraduate teaching in four types of institutions. It is the first stage of a research program that will assess the extent of faculty adherence to codes of conduct and arrangements for reporting and instituting sanctions for violations of such codes.  相似文献

Abstract

This research was based on the theoretical belief that student evaluations of faculty teaching are related to the person-environment congruence between students’ locus of reinforcement and the degree of control exercised by faculty instructional styles. Fifty-seven college students were classified as internally or externally reinforced based on Rotter’s locus of reinforcement theory. Students evaluated high and low faculty control instructional styles by rating daily seven classroom evaluative questions on a five-point differential scale. It was hypothesized that the evaluation of instruction by students experiencing congruent control styles (internal students/low control and external students/high control) would be more positive than incongruent combinations (external students low control and internal students/high control). ANOVA results yielded a significant 937’value p <.01) for interaction effects which supported the research hypothesis. Implications for student evaluation of faculty teaching are discussed.  相似文献

The purpose of this research was to ascertain the impact of an array of variables on the espoused teaching paradigms and instructional behaviors of college faculty. The study, which was exploratory and speculative, alternately analyzed espoused teaching paradigms as independent and dependent variables. Analyses were based on data collected from a large national sample of college faculty (N = 443) spread across 163 colleges and universities and compared across four academic disciplines (English, biology, mathematics, and psychology). The results of the inquiry demonstrated gender, academic discipline, and some contextual variables to be the most significant predictors of faculty teaching paradigms. Furthermore, manifestations of teaching paradigms were explicitly reflected in the frequencies of instructional behaviors reported by the faculty surveyed. It was concluded that contingency theories of leadership offer a framework that facilitates a multivariate analysis of teaching-learning.The author was a doctoral candidate at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University at the time this research was conducted.  相似文献

The idea that female faculty might serve as role models for female students has led to studies of the effect of female faculty on female student performance. Due to varying levels of aggregation of the measure of student exposure to female faculty—percentage of female faculty at an institution or department, percentage of classes taught by females, or the effect of female instructors on female students in a class—existing research provides mixed and incompatible results. By applying both non-aggregated and aggregated measures of exposure to female role models to the same data, this analysis demonstrates how aggregation affects the association between exposure to female role models and student achievement. This study shows that female instructors have a significant positive effect on female student grade performance and do not have a statistically significant effect on male student performance.  相似文献

This analysis reviews the research that has been done on the connection between research productivity or scholarly accomplishment of faculty members and their teaching effectiveness (as assessed by their students). On average, there is a very small positive association between the two variables. To understand this relationship better, extant research was explored for factors that might mediate either positive or inverse associations between research productivity and teaching effectiveness and those that possibly could be common causes of them. Pedagogical practices and dispositions of faculty members, as well as certain course or class characteristics (size of class, electivity of course), were examined as potential mediating factors. Potential common causes investigated were academic rank and age of faculty members, their general ability, their personality characteristics, and the amount of time or effort they spend on research activities. The association between research productivity and teaching effectiveness was explored further by considering whether its size and direction varies by career stage of faculty members, their academic discipline, and the type of college or university in which they teach.  相似文献
