On my way back to Beijing, I dropped into the art museum of Hebei Provincial Institute of Painting in the city of Shijiazhuang, where an exhibition on Wei Kuizhong＇s off paintings was on the display. I was so overwhelmed by those extraordinary works that I was eager to talk to the painter. Wei was a sincere and determined artist. He looked taciturn but when it came to his artistic pursuits and ideas, his eloquence surprised me. In the Chinese art market today when everybody complains about the lack of mainstream artworks, Wei＇s oil masterpieces with thrilling make him stand out as a leading figure.  相似文献

The exhibition “Buryat＇s Spirit： Rus- sian Artist Dashi Namdakov＇s Works” was recently on view at the World Art Museum in Beijing. The exhibition displays the artist＇s 68 masterpieces that he created in various periods, in- cluding 56 sculptures and 12 paint- ings. As a descendant of Buryat peo- ple, Dashi creates works that depict subjects of Lamaism, Shamanism, Buryat epics and Siberian myths. His sculptures unveil a mysterious world, mix decorative and symbolic elements of folk art with academic approaches of realism, and show interaction be- tween Eastern and Western cultures. On October 17, Chinese contemporary artist Zeng Fanzhi opened his first Parisian exhibition in the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. It is the artist＇s most comprehensive solo exhibition to date in Europe. The exhibition looks back on his career, which has spanned over two decades. From early German Expressionist inspired pieces such as the Hospital series, to the more recent Untitled series, which recalls both American Abstract Expressionism and Chinese traditional ink landscapes. The Exhibition of 100 Sculptors was recently on display in the National Art Museum of China. With an objective to review the development of Chinese sculpture over the past 30 years of reform and opening up, this grand exhibition project was launched in November 2008. Master sculptors like Pan He, Qian Shaowu, Ye Minshan, Zeng Chenggang, Cao Chunshen, Han Meilin and Wu Weishan were invited to form an expert panel to select 104 masterpieces from nearly 2000 candidate works. Participant sculptors vary in age, from master sculptor Liu Kaiqu to young sculptors born in the 1980s. Late September 2006, at the invitation of the Cultural Ministry of Belarus, a four-person delegation from northeast China＇s Heilongjiang Province visited Minsk, capital city of Belarus, to present China Ice and Snow Painting Exhibition at Belarus National Museum of History and Culture as part of China Culture Day co- sponsored by the cultural ministries of the two countries. The year 2010 marks the 150th anniversary of the destruction of the Old Summer Palace （the Yuanmingyuan Garden）. In order to commemorate this lamentable disaster, an exhibition on photographs of the Old Summer Palace shot by Ernst Ohlmer, a German tax official serving in China Custom in the late 19th century, will be jointly launched by Beijing World Art Museum and Taiwan-based Qin Feng Old Photo Studio.
