For a nonlinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws, the initial-boundary value problem is concerned with the boundary conditions. A boundary entropy condition is derived based on Dubois F and Le Floch P's results by taking a suitable entropy-flux pair (Journal of Differential Equations, 1988, 71(1): 93-122). The solutions of the initial-boundary value problem for the system are constructively obtained, in which initial-boundary data are in piecewise constant states. Comparing SAT scores among states using regression analysis leads to biased results because states differ in the proportion of students taking the exam. When the proportion of students taking the exam is included in the regression equation, the results can be biased because of misspecifieation bias. A method intended to correct for selection bias is presented, and empirical results suggest that sample selection bias is present in SAT score regressions. Regression equations and state rankings are compared between the selection-corrected equation and equations for which the selection problem is not addressed. The proposed method is one of many available as possible solutions to the selection problem. Alternative methods may produce different results  相似文献

An analytical method for predicting chaos in perturbed planar non-Hamiltonian integrable systems with slowly varying parameters was developed.Based on the analysis of the geometric structure of unperturbed systems.the condition of transversely homoclinic intersection was given.The generalized Melnikov function of the perturbed system was fund by applying the theorem on the differentiability of ordinary differential equation solutions with respect to parameters.  相似文献
