Learning community, a theory that has gained popularity in the USA and many European countries over the past twenty years, has made a tremendous influence upon each aspect of education. There is no universal definition of it, but there is a general consensus that learning community develops through the cooperative efforts of the group members within the environment that al - lows all the members to achieve shared goals. Learning is not merely based on individual's efforts, but mainly on the collective ex- periences of learning community.  相似文献

A Crow, half-dead with thirst, came upon a pitcher which had once been full of water; but when the Crow put its beak into the mouth of the pitcher he found that only very little water was left in it, and that he could not reach far enough down to get at it. He tried, and he tried, but at last had to give up in despair. Then a thought came to him, and he took a pebble and dropped it into the pitcher.  相似文献

The Call of the Wild is Jack London’s first bestseller and is one of the most popular novels during the early twentiethcentury in America. It is considered as a model of American literature. This novel depicts how Buck turns from a dog to a leading wolf that returns to the nature. Buck reflects not only the figure of the author but also his aspirations and pursuits. When comparing Buck with the author, it can be said that to a large extent Buck is the author himself-the combination of reality and ideal.  相似文献

Teaching required mathematics courses poses a challenge to teachers at all levels. Many of these difficulties are the result of cultural attitudes that make it socially acceptable, even trendy, to lack mathematical knowledge. Most of our students are aware of the inherent value of mathematics; but because mathematics is a subject that requires hard work, they choose to deny its importance.  相似文献

Throughout the history, arbitrariness put forward by Saussure has been regarded as one of the most designing features of language. Saussure claimed that there is no interrelationship between the signifier and signified, or such relationship can’t be testified but conventional. Later, the famous linguists Peirce and Haiman, who have made great contribution to the ever-heated theory of iconicity, reveal another feature of the language. The purpose of this paper is not to deny the arbitrary nature of language, but to suggest that the nature of language is a combination of arbitrariness and iconicity.  相似文献

Pangs of Love tells the experiences of Chinese American immigrants, and especially the pangs the narrator, as a second generation, feels in family, love and social affairs. Based on the analysis of the narrator’s pangs, this paper argues that it is mainly the uncertainty of cultural identity that leads to the pangs of the narrator, and of the second generation Chinese Americans. This paper shows that the second generation can take advantage of their dual but conflicting cultural heritages to develop a renewed and specific cultural identity.  相似文献

A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it , and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it . A smile creates happiness in the home. fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friend- ship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and is nature's be…  相似文献
