The language is a play of signs. However, behind the signs is the culture manipulates the signs. The sign is the surface structure; while under the surface is that the thinking pattern matters, which is the only small part of the culture. The culture difference always exists. I would like to study it in terms of the problems which the essay reveals. The first part is to list examples, and the second part tries to analyze it in terms of thinking patterns. The construction of the cables is a key step for erecting suspen-dome structures. In practical engineering, it is difficult to ensure that the designed pre-stresses of cables have been exactly introduced into the structures in the site; so it is necessary to evaluate the influence of the variation of the pre-stresses on the structural behavior. In the present work, an orthogonal design method was employed to investigate the pre-stressed cables' sensitivity to the suspen-dome system. The investigation was concentrated on a Kiewitt suspen-dome. Parametric studies were carried out to study the sensitivity of the structure's static behavior, dynamic behavior, and buckling loads when the pre-stresses in the cables varied. The investigation indicated that suspen-dome structures are sensitive to the pre-stresses in all cables; and that the sensitivity depended on the location of the cables and the kind of structural behavior. Useful suggestions are given at the end of the paper. 相似文献

The purpose of the study is to teach urban young children music concepts and English by composing creative music and songs with contrast elements. The subjects were seven urban young children aged from three to four in a Taiwan kindergarten. The duration was twenty-four weeks, with two sessions per week. The teaching contents included Hello Song, Musical Movement, Music Appreciation and Goodbye Song. The study applied the thematic music elements to the teaching content. The main methodology was a qualitative study and quantitative data used to receive objective support. Assessment included a pre-test at the beginning, a post-test and participation observation at the end of the study. The head of the kindergarten, the classroom teacher and a parent completed activity feedback forms to obtain social validity. The results show that through the use of creative music pieces of contrast and song activities, urban young children＇s understanding of music concepts was progressive and English ability was improved. The study findings are： （1） Using contrastive music pieces is a good method for teaching very young urban children to understand music concepts; （2） Creating simple target objective songs with contrast elements is a good way for urban young children to learn simple English; （3） Music with contrastive elements could motivate urban young children to do movement spontaneously and learn the spoken language simultaneously; and （4） Contrastive music could be used for pre-classical music learning. 相似文献

Using geotextile bag dehydrated soil to construct dikes for land reclamation to substitute conventional straw bags is an urgent need in Tianjin New Harbor, China. This paper introduces the method to build a dike for hydraulic filling. The soil for filling the geotextile bags was tested in wave trench ; the stress developed during construction was calculated by establishing a numerical model and compared with the tensile strength of the geotextile; the stability and settlement of the dike were estimated by performing centrifuge tests. Through this study, the following information was obtained: 1 ) The cohesionless silt with plasticity index less than 10 is suitable for filling the geotextile bags. The geotextile bag dehydrated soil consolidated very quickly even under the action of wave force. 2) A numerical model was devised to find the limit injection height and to calculate the tensile stress developed in the geotextile bags when they were piled up to form the dike. The calculated stress was compared with the strength of the geotextile, showing that the design is reasonably safe. 3) Centrifuge test results show that the designed dike will be stable and the settlement of dike will be less than the design requirement. 相似文献

In order to find a simple and programmed method to analyze the reliability of hull beams when fatigue and corrosion act on ships, the stress of ships is to be calculated in compliance with the longitudinal bending and cross-section modulus of ship beams. The calculation value of stress is to be compared with the allowable stress in order to gain the actual ship load and margin of safety, and then assess the reliability and failure probability of ship beams. The longitudinal bending moment is a random variable; the fatigue and cauterization are also random variables; and as the ship is influenced by cumulative damage of fatigue and cauterization, the cross-section modulus is a time-varying random variable. The reliability and failure probabilities can be actually reflected through the reliability analysis method. The analysis results indicate that in the service time of ships, as the age of ship increases and the fatigue and corrosion effects accumulate, the reliability of ship beams decreases and the failure probability increases, especially after 15 to 20 years. 相似文献

This study reported the findings of a survey from a broader study conducted to： （a） find out the level to which students use computers; （b） compare which gender is more proficient in computer use; and （c） discuss the relationship between students＇ age and their computer proficiency. Activity theory was adopted as the theoretical framework to explain behavioural intentions of computer interactions. The study used self-answering questionnaires with closed-ended items to collect data from a group of teacher-trainees. A total of 1,500 questionnaires were distributed using a stratified sampling to select respondents. The data collected were analysed using simple means, frequencies, standard deviation, independent sample t-test, Chi-square test, and cross-tabulation. Findings from the study showed a significant difference of computer usage in level of proficiency by gender. The main findings are： 1 Younger students have higher computer proficiency skills as compared to the older students; 2. The students use computers for various activities including listening to music, playing games, researching, chatting, and e-mailing; 3. The students get access to educational resources including electronic journals, e-books, open educational resources （OER）, educational digital video disk/compact disc （DVD/CD）, and online databases; and 4. Male students have higher technology literacy skills than female students. The study recommended that efforts should be made to provide more access time to computing facilities to increase students＇ computer usage. There is a need to bridge the computer usage gap between male and female students. Older students should be encouraged to improve their technology literacy skills. Furthermore, the results suggested that the students used technologies within the objectivist model of teaching and learning. From the findings, teacher education programs need to provide teacher-trainees with further training programs to help them enhance their skills in the use of computers as an instructional tool for teaching and learning. 相似文献
