The English writings of many translators are not accepted by the readers. The reason is that there is no correct translation idea, the literal translation is the main reason, and the thinking of the text is not suitable for the original text. The main purpose of this paper is to explore the perception of applying self-and peer-assessment in English writing,through an Action research process.The learning in the programme,the students have learnt translating Chinese into written English for first stage,and have learnt writing in English for second and third stage through self-and peer-assessment.The research result shows that the most students feel that the process of self-and peer-assessment are useful for improving their English writing skill and they feel that self-reflection and peer discussion around their English writing is helpful for promoting the development of self-and peer-assessment.Especially,key findings about four types of students are more important.Overall,based on student’s perception about using self-and peer-assessment,learning written in English is also an ongoing research,it can develop the ability of students’ ability to solve problems independently,and raise their language communicative competence gradually.  相似文献

In recent years,foreign films have been introduced into China,which have a tremendous impact on people’s social life.As a major tool for obtaining information and enjoying entertainment,film subtitle translation is becoming increasingly important.Meanwhile,the English level and appreciation ability of domestic audience is continuously improving with the change of the times,and their demand and requirement for subtitle translation are also improving.Nowadays,there are still many immature parts in sub?title translation,and the theory in China is relatively deficient.Therefore,the subtitle translation level of film needs to be rose.The translator constantly improves the translation ability by using translation theories and skills.Based on the theory of functional equiv?alence,this thesis translates the subtitle of the film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing,Missouri.Firstly,this paper briefly introduces the development of the film subtitle translation and the film.Secondly,it introduces the translation theories and skills applied in translation practice,making a particular analysis in combination with specific practical cases.Finally,the translator makes a sum?mary for the translation process.The translator hopes that through the translation practice,some attempts can be made for future re?search in subtitle translation.  相似文献

Memetics is originally a theory for interpreting cultural evolution. Memes, coined to disclose a strong analogy with genes, are ideas that spread through human cultures and across the generation. As cultural replicators, memes are propagated and transmitted through imitation; language, as part of culture, produces under the influence of memes. This paper discusses the relationship between language and culture and that between language and memes. In addition, the classification of linguistic memes and the survival law residing in the memes are also expounded. The translation of tourist materials thus weighs a lot in the economic development and cross-cultural communication. But the condition is not satisfactory, there are still existing some problems in the translation of tourist publicity materials. Therefor the readers can’t receive the equal information that the original text expressed. The previous studies show that the major problems faced by the students in writing can be classified into two categories, that is, they don’t know"what to write"and"how to write". The researchers found that the specific problems existing in their writings are identified as poor content, incomplete generic structure and misuse of cohesive devices. Therefore, on the basis of the previous studies, this study attempts to use Martin’s genre theory to resolve the existed problems of the Professional College English major’s students in writing and enhance students’ discourse writing ability. Meanwhile, this study tries to answer the following questions:(1) Compared with the traditional writing teaching methods, whether the genre-based writing method has a significant effect to improve students’ writing skills;(2) Whether the genre-based writing method is possible to increase students’ interest in writing. The experimental result and the questionnaire show that genre-based approach in ESL writing teaching really can improve students’ writing achievement and enhance students’ interest in English writing.  相似文献

With rapid development of China,a growing number of foreign products are entering the Chinese market.An excellent translation of a product’s advertisement from English to Chinese undoubtedly contributes to its successful promotion in the Chinese market.Although the translation practice contains multiple difficulties,the translation of lexical stylistic devices is a big challenge for translators.It is not simply because lexical stylistic devices are diverse and various in form,but also because most devices involve linguistic and cultural differences between English and Chinese.This thesis analyzed a number of current English to Chinese translations of the devices in commercial advertisements,which mainly come from two translation scholars’works and official websites of world-known brands.By analyzing the selected data,seven translation strategies are found to be the major translation strategies in this respect,namely literal translation,free translation,flexible translation,extended translation,adaptation translation,compensation translation and amplification translation strategies.Moreover,a number of linguistic and cultural issues which need to be considered by translators are also illustrated here.  相似文献

Sight Translation(ST) has long been considered as a useful exercise for acquiring interpreting skills. However, little studies have been done to prove how the skills acquired from ST can be transferred to other modes of interpreting, for instance,Consecutive Interpreting(CI). In this study, the sequencing of ST and CI teaching is explored to proof that starting ST teaching first is more logical. Gile’s effort model is used to explain the similarities and differences of ST and CI and to set up possible effect of ST on CI. The learners’ motivation and attitude toward English for Specific Purposes(ESP) is always an influential element for the quality of ESP course.Teachers should at first get to know the learners’ motivation and attitude toward this course so as to teach the course well.Therefore,by means of questionnaire survey on the students’ motivation and attitudes who took accounting English in M University as their elective course during the next term in 2009,and through qualitative study,such as interviews,diary and classroom observation on the accounting English choosers in the next term in 2010,some conclusions are discovered that there are about 4 factors and 3 variables among the students’ motivations,and their attitudes toward this course is positive in general.Both accounting and English are their learning targets,and oral English and translation are their favors.The combination of blackboard-writing and multimedia technology is preferred than any of the other single teaching models.But the shortage of class hours and the lack of systematic arrangement also affect the students’ motivation and their learning efficiency.  相似文献

A cognitive interpretation of the basic translation strategy, domestication and foreignization, is elaborated in this paper. It is pro posed that based on differences in linguistic presentation and cultural connotation, the application of translation strategy is determined by the style of the source text (ST) and the translator’s performance, both of which are generated from individualized style of construe, decided by a range of experiences. So great importance should be attached to experience and construe. Eco-translatology and Translation Ecology are two new aspects of translation study.They arise from the development of Ecology and the interdisciplinary tendency of translation studies.The present paper intends to make a clear introduction of the two branches of translation study and make a comparison based on the introductions in order to provide insights into these new perspectives to translation studies.The paper points out that they are different in terms of developing routes,naming principles,terminology,methodology,research pivot,etc.A conclusion is drawn that clarification of their relationship will provide insights into the two branches of translation study and Hu Gengshen’s approach to translation as adaptation and selection adds a new dimension to translation study as an academic discipline.  相似文献

Although most courses are offered in the traditional synchronous way where teaching and learning mainly take place in the classroom, the Internet has proven to be an effective tool in learning. The demand of online courses is constantly growing, however, there is a paucity of research of online delivery success factors, especially of accounting courses. The aim of this paper was to investigate'the factors that contribute to student satisfaction from online teaching and learning of an accounting course. This study was conducted at a university in the United States (U.S.) amongst 80 students enrolled in an online accounting course over a period of two semesters. The quantitative data are based on the students' course evaluation forms of the instructor's teaching and overall satisfaction with the course. The findings suggest that the students found the asynchronous online teaching and learning interesting and challenging. The factors that mainly contribute to student satisfaction include the instructor's preparation for the course and her availability to students, the clear grading criteria, the assignment which they found useful, and the other resources that were available online. They value the least the development of writing skills. Additionally, this study proposes that there is a positive significant correlation between the instructor's overall performance and the overall student satisfaction from the course. The instructor's performance, availability, and easy to use technology enhance the learning and teaching from online pedagogies.  相似文献
