English teaching is a big project in China,whenever we teach English,we transmit western cultures,when taking in the essence of western culture,students also receive the bad things of western culture.Besides,because of learning English,many students know less and less about their own culture and are not interested in learning it.So there is a clash between Chinese cul ture and western culture.So English teachers face a problem:what is their cultural identity in English teaching?Based on the anal ysis of the necessity,demerits and clash of English language and culture teaching,this paper attempts to discuss about teachers’cultural identity in teaching English.  相似文献

Currently English has spread around the world so extensively that it has become a link language across many cultures.Since 1980s,China saw a warm discussion of language,culture and cross-cultural communication.An increasing number of researchers and educators began to be aware of the vital importance of culture in EFL teaching and learning and cultural content has been available in classrooms teaching.However,the development of English teaching and cross-cultural communicative competence is target culture-oriented and the ability of expressiveness of home culture in English is almost ignored.Thus,the thesis seeks to collect the students’ perceptions on expressiveness of Chinese culture in English and the culture teaching in EFL in China.  相似文献

English as a foreign language has been a subject in middle school of China for years. Teachers and educators generation by generation have been trying to find an optimal method of teaching foreign language to help students master it better. After unceasing exploring, traditional teaching pattern has been im- proved and new teaching approaches appear such as Task-based language teaching and com- municative language teaching. However, what- ever teaching methods English teachers use in the class, they should not ignore the cultural input in English teaching. The successful and efficient English teaching should transform the single language teaching into the combination of language teaching and cultural teaching. Cultural differences have a great effect on English learning,especially on college English reading.Reading is a crucial tool in acquiring information and knowledge.Culture cannot be separated from language.College English reading should focus on the differences of culture.It is important to understand how to lay stress on the differences in the course of college English teaching and learning about reading for increasing students’ ability of reading.This thesis analyzes the influence of culture on English reading and tries to set up a principle of teaching English through culture.To support my point of view,the relationship between language and culture is discussed first.Language is a part of culture and shaped by culture;it is also the carrier of culture and reflects cultural features of a community in which the language is spoken.Language and culture are closely related with each other.From the aspect of language teaching and learning,to teach a foreign language is to teach another culture;to learn a language is also to learn another culture.  相似文献

English movies have authentic oral expression, authentic language environment and rich cultural connotations. Appreciating English movies can not only make one learn the language knowledge, but also have access to cultural knowledge. Language is the carrier of culture. Learning a language is a process of access to culture. Task-based language teaching approach firmly believes that study should be students' interest, emphasizes"learning bydoing", enables students to acquire language in the process of completing tasks, which solves the problem of laying too much stress on language knowledge and grammar knowledge while ignoring students' emotional attitudes and comprehensive ability to use lan - guage in English teaching. The English Curriculum Standards for primary schools require that the task of English teaching is to arouse students'study interest, and enable students to master certain English knowledge, and form certain language application ability for them.
