Defending peers who have been bullied is often thought to put defenders at risk of becoming victimized themselves. The study investigated the concurrent and prospective associations between defending and (peer- and self-reported) victimization, and examined popularity and classroom norms as potential moderators. Participants included 4085 Finnish youth (43.9% boys; Mage = 14.56, SD = .75; 97% born in Finland). Concurrently, defending was positively associated with self-reported victimization in classrooms with high bullying-popularity norms (b = .28, SE = .16). Defending was negatively associated with peer-reported victimization in classrooms with high defending-popularity norms (b = −.07, SE = .03). Defending was not significantly associated with future victimization, suggesting that it is generally not a risk factor for victimization.  相似文献

In the present study, we tested the mediating role of moral disengagement in the effect of childhood maltreatment on bullying and defending. We also examined whether the mediating effect of moral disengagement differed between girls and boys, early and middle adolescents, as well as only and non-only children. Five hundred and fifty-two Chinese adolescents participated in this study. The results indicated that the prevalence rates of physical abuse, physical neglect, emotional abuse, and emotional neglect were 4.0%, 40.0%, 10.5%, and 27.9%, respectively. Path analysis showed that moral disengagement partially mediated the relation between childhood maltreatment and bullying, but did not mediate the relation between childhood maltreatment and defending. Moreover, multi-group analyses indicated that no significant path in the final model differed by gender. However, early adolescents exposed to high levels of childhood maltreatment were more likely to engage in bullying and less likely to engage in defending than middle adolescents, and early adolescents with high levels of moral disengagement were more likely to engage in bullying than middle adolescents. Compared to non-only children, only children exposed to high levels of childhood maltreatment were more likely to score higher on moral disengagement and less likely to engage in defending.  相似文献

This study explores the role folk tales of deception might play in assisting the child's development of a theory of mind. Four three- and four-year-olds read and reread “The Brave Little Tailor” with their parents. The results suggest that rereading a folk tale of deception sets a framework for social interactions supporting the development of the child's understanding of mental representation. The deceptions of the story elicit discussions—of thoughts and feelings and their relation to intentions and actions—that change over the course of successive readings as the child shows increasing comprehension of the deceptions of the story and decreasing need of parental support. Parent-child pairs differ in how they structure their interactions and gender of parent and of child appears to affect how frequently and explicitly connections are drawn between actions, beliefs, and reality. Reading a familiar story with a new person allows the child to assume a more active “expert” role.  相似文献

In order to help the selection and training of teachers for kindergartens, a scale for diagnosis of the special psychological predispositions needed for kindergarten teachers has been developed. It consists of 130 items derived from a personality test and an ability test. By the use of stratified sampling strategy, 660 teachers from different kindergartens in Beijing were chosen to form a sample group in its development. The ultimate bending moment and maximal shear stress of a bulk carrier with two structural forms (single hull and double hull/ are calculated separately by using the combined moment which is determined by stochastic process. Then the assessment of reliability is carried out. The results indicate that by introducing the double-hull structure, the shear stress of side can be decreased to half of that of the primary structure( 50.7% i. but the effect on longitudinal strength is not obvious. Finally, the effects of different double-side skin widths on ultimate bending moment and the maximal shear stress are investigated, followed by proposals of the selection of the double-side skin width.  相似文献
