In national perception, education is essentially for all. This is fundamental to all-round development, material and spiritual. It refines sensitivities and perceptions that contribute to national cohesion, a scientific temper and independence of mind and spirit--thus furthering the goals of socialism secularism and democracy enshrined in our constitution. The objective of the study focuses on achievement of children with learning disability in science. There are 5 null hypothesis tested in this research. The sample used in this study includes 35 children with learning disabilities in experimental group and 42 children with learning disabilities in control group. The different views taken on special education have ignited spark of controversies over segregating some children from the mainstream and providing them with extra opportunities. There are arguments for and against both special education and integrated education. Special education means the specifically designed instruction that meets the unusual needs of special children. It requires special materials, teaching, techniques, equipment and facilities. The design was an experimental research pre and post-test equivalent group. The research shows that there is no significant difference in all learning objective such as knowledge, comprehension and skill between control group and experimental group in the pre-test. This two sample groups also did not show any significant difference in the pre-test irrespective of gender, educational qualification of the teacher, years of experience of the teacher, parents' education, parents' profession, parents' income, type of management and type of school. On the other hand, for the post-test all the characteristics show that there are significant differences. This shows that there are effects on the treatment group in learning objective. Furthermore the experimental group showed significantly higher gain score than the control group with regard to the learning objective which comprises of knowledge, comprehension, application and skill.  相似文献

The paper analyzes the nature of the basic education, and points out that the scarcity, disparity and exclusiveness to a certain degree form the inner reasons of school choice in China. In review of the policy evolution of governing the school choice problems, and analyzing the policy framework of the current stage, the paper holds that expanding public expenditure is the basis of providing adequate, fair and quality compulsory education and high school education, and the role of social forces should be brought into full play so as to promote the diverse ways of delivering educational services. In reality, the significant institutional guarantee to govern the problem of school choice in China is to transform the government function and build the government more public service oriented, implement the government accountability system and build transparent public debate sphere.  相似文献

This research is attempting to examine the effectiveness in the application of ICT (information and communication technology) and standardize courseware in ETeMS (English for Teaching Mathematics and Science) or PPSMI (Pengajaran and Pembelajaran Sains and Matematic dalam Bahasa Inggeris) in English program in the Malaysian secondary school system. Five dimensions of secondary school (type of school, demographic, leadership quality, teaching and learning culture, and teachers' personal and working experience) were examined to determine the maximizing usage of TEC (technology-enhanced classroom) in the learning program. In general, there is a significant difference among factors stated above with maximizing usage of TEC in teaching and learning of science and mathematics in English program. The learning culture is also closely related. In addition, the school and teaching staff are another two essential factors found to be the strong fundamental of maximizing the usage of technology in TEC teaching and learning with towering quality. This study represents an addition to the extant literature on maximizing the usage of technology-enhanced teaching and learning towards the excellence of education in the secondary school system. The maximizing usage of TEC teaching and learning environment within the secondary school system is pivotal towards achieving high quality human capital and improving the efficiency and integrity of technology-enhanced learning of science and mathematics in English program. This study provides further groundwork to assist existing education managers to improve work quality and deliver the maximizing usage of TEC teaching and learning towards the excellence in secondary education.  相似文献

Applying information technologies in the educational process is the main direction of modern education. However, "moving" information communication technologies to schools is the primary purpose of discussions held by pedagogical and scientific society as this is a very problematic field (Lamanauskas, 2006). Most of the researches show that the virtual learning environment help to achieve higher learning results. However, pupils' questioning in Lithuania, Germany, Romania, Malta and Czech (Lamanauskas, Vilkonis & Klangauskas, 2007; Lamanauskas & Vilkonis, 2007; Bilek, Zemanova & Turcani, 2007) showed that most of the respondents prefer real learning environment or combine real and virtual environments while learning natural sciences. The latest scientific research shows that along the real and/or virtual teaching/learning environment, a combined environment can also be acceptable. The introduced environment can be created using augmented reality technology (ART), i.e. augmenting real objects found in the environment and usual material visuals with virtual information in the real space. In Siauliai University, a pedagogical experiment was done, and it aims at establishing effective teaching/learning platform based on augmented reality technology (ARTP) influence upon the learning results. 110 pupils of the 7 th form of comprehensive school took part in the experiment. The analysis of the research data shows that pupils' achievement after use of ARTP in the experimental group significantly improved while completing some tasks.  相似文献

A study was made of different emotions that prospective primary school teachers report with respect to science subjects, when they were pupils, and during their practice teaching, taking into account the variables gender and the speciality they studied in the secondary education. The study consisted of a questionnaire completed by 63 primary education students at the University of Extremadura, Spain. The results show a great difference between the emotions related to the subjects of physics/chemistry and the nature sciences (biology/geology). The scientific subject influences the emotions of pre-service primary teachers, both in learning and teaching. In physics and chemistry, the emotions are mostly negative. While in nature sciences they are very positive. In nature sciences, there is a correlation between the emotions felt as secondary school pupils learning science and those they feel as teachers. In physics and chemistry, there is a correlation in the women between the emotions felt as secondary school pupils learning science and those they feel as teachers, but not in the men. The memory of their emotions in learning science at school is more negative than in teaching science during their teaching practice, except in nervousness in physics/chemistry. By gender, men declared a greater predilection for science content than women, with more of them describing such feelings as sympathy or confidence. The results highlight the influential role that emotions play throughout the professional growth of future primary teachers.  相似文献

This article takes a discursive psychology approach to the analysis of Non-English major students’ English learning experience narrative. The students took part in my survey are those just say goodbye to the high school and are freshmen in college now. The English learning experience narrative is in a form of diary. Through the students themselves’ own point of views in recounting their English learning experiences, I want to find the reality hidden behind their failures in learning English. In the past ten years, many exemplar projects are completed in China to encourage the sharing of knowledge and experience of sustainability. Many of these projects are landmark buildings, and because they can attract more public attentions, they raise more awareness of sustainable development. However, school projects are rarely mentioned in the news and annual inspirational project lists. The fundamental point of this paper is to challenge the common concept in China that school buildings are only used exclusively by children in formal education. According to the paper’s review of the school schemes in England and Wales, not only the inspirational sustainable schools created the opportunities and responsibilities to accelerate positive changes, but also they developed a vision of an asset that supports lifelong learning and sustainable lifestyles for the whole community. In this paper, the definition of a ‘sustainable school’ is summarised by comparing the statements and concepts in England and Wales. Moreover, a wide range of benefits gained by project stakeholders and communities are also demonstrated through case studies. In the end, lessons and innovations which can be learnt by Chinese school projects are concluded. The illustrations provided by this paper do not aim to solve all issues of promoting a sustainable school in China, but to open people’s minds to the impacts of their actions, and to build the knowledge and cooperative framework to promote public sustainable projects.  相似文献

The national strategies of drug abuse prevention across Europe have come to recognise that the drugs abuse problem presents a complex set of issues of which there is no simple solution. There is a considerable increase in investment in prevention, treatment and harm-reduction activities and increased focus on supply reduction. School settings are the focus of most attempts to implement effective prevention programmes. Prevention in schools does not only focus on drugs alone, but also includes personal and social skills, often with family involvement and involvement of local community. The school is an ideal setting for drug abuse prevention and development of active and responsible attitudes against drug abuse. Successful school drug-prevention programmes include personal skills training (decision-making, coping and goal-setting), social skills training (assertiveness, resisting peer-pressure), drug education (knowledge about drugs and the consequences of taking them) and developing attitudes (especially correcting misconceptions about peer group drug use). Effective drug education programmes incorporate a range of activities which provide students with relevant factual information, the opportunity to consider their attitudes and values, and the values of others. For effective delivery of prevention programmes, interactive teaching is better than didactic teaching alone. In that sense, the puppet play could be used as an interactive technique. Puppets help the students engage actively in communicating their emotions, opinions and experiences, and learn about the drug abuse problem. By the means of puppetry and dramatic play, the students may learn about drugs and the consequences of taking them.  相似文献

This article roughly retrospects the idea of school voucher program proposed by Milton Friedman, lately developed by Peacock, Wiseman and Jencks. The reasons like privatization in education, deterioration of public schooling and school choice promote this program. Then taking a simple look at the ramification of voucher program" and its value inclination and the practice of school voucher program in the USA and the problems existing in America. Finally, this paper introduces the school voucher program practiced in China and the enlightenments that school voucher program can offer to the education reform in China. With the idea and practice of school voucher program, the introduction of the market mechanism benefits the innovation of education fiscal system, the competition between schools, improvement of the education quality and parents' needs of school choice; it benefits the development of non-governmental education; it helps to build a better school governance situation. Many secondary teacher preparation programs require that undergraduate candidates complete a literacy course, usually taught within a college of education, where 30 or more teacher candidates from various majors are enrolled in the same course. University instructors teaching literacy courses may have difficulty in developing course content and assignments which are relevant to all teacher education fields. This paper explains how one university implemented a literacy course for PETE (physical education teacher education) majors only, in order to focus on how literacy can be incorporated into high school physical education courses. Nineteen teacher candidates were invited to register for a section of literacy in the content area for PETE majors. Multiple means of data collection were employed to engage participants (pre- and post- surveys, electronic discussion board and interviews). The purpose of the study is to find out if it is beneficial for teacher candidates to participate in a segregated content literacy methods classes compared to traditional (mixed majors) content literacy methods, and the impact of a non-traditional teacher education literacy class for PETE candidates. Recommendations for future research in regards to working with content literacy across various content areas are made.  相似文献

Abstract     
World outlook, outlook on life and values are the master switch of ideological and political education, while the first is the hub of the switch. In the actual ideological and political education, however, the education of world outlook is often blurred and faded. This paper analyzes the factors and demonstrates from both practical and theoretical perspectives the decisive role the world outlook plays in the shaping of the outlook on life and values. This paper holds that the world outlook is the foundation for the socialist core values, ideals and beliefs; only when a person establishes a scientific world outlook, can he/she understand the socialist core values properly and shape scientific ideals and beliefs. Then the paper further analyzes the content and methods for world outlook education, paying special attention to the gradual process of education from primary school to middle school to college, sticking to the educational method of from outside to inside and from shallow to the depth and the combination of the world outlook and methodology.  相似文献
