The convergence criterion of Newton's method to find the zeros ofa mapffrom a Lie group to its corresponding Lie algebra is established under the assumption thatfsatisfies the classical Lipschitz condition, and that the radius of convergence ball is also obtained. Furthermore, the radii of the uniqueness balls of the zeros of fare estimated. Owren and Welfert (2000) stated that if the initial point is close sufficiently to a zero off then Newton's method on Lie group converges to the zero; while this paper provides a Kantorovich's criterion for the convergence of Newton's method, not requiring the existence of a zero as a priori.  相似文献

In The Bluest Eye,the author narrates a little black girl’s strong desire to have blue eyes.At last,Pecola imagines possessing blue eyes at the cost of going insane. This paper mainly argues that it is the family’s influence, the internalized racism and the whites’powerful and dominant culture that leads to Pecola’s tragic fate.  相似文献

Prisoner’s Dilemma is a master trope for relaying the permanent impasse or dilemma of cooperation versus defection. In Prisoner’s Dilemma Richard Powers narrates a multiform of dilemma mainly narrating Eddie Hobson’s traumatic history, along with Eddie’s attempt to carry out a strategy—Eddie’s ideal Hobstown which is supposed to cope with the confused dilemma.Pow?ers’strategic moral insights are revealed by assuming that each player feels sympathy for the other and a moral cooperative instead of antagonistic solution to the Prisoner’s Dilemma will be found.  相似文献

The implementation of group work in China is aroused by the teaching reform and proposal of the New Curriculum Standard, in order to improve the language teaching and learning. However, in many cases group work is far less effective and desirable than it should have been. The effectiveness of group work depends on many factors in real language classroom setting. This paper mainly focuses on the factor of teacher’s role. The main implication of this paper is to suggest the appropriate teacher role in students’group work and put forward some skills in organizing group work in order to make group work more effective and significant.  相似文献

The Relevance Theory put forward by Sperber and Wilson not only gives rise to a new research on pragmatics, but also provides a new theoretic foundation for other disciplines. Gutt applies the theory to translation and gives a relevance-theoretic account of translation. The relevance-theoretic communicative model provides rational explanation for existence of the implicit information. The appropri ate treatment of the implicit information is consistent with readers’ cognitive environment and expectation. Human communication de pends on not only the text, but also the inferential context. The adequate contextual effect is derived from the correct judgment and infer ence of the implicit information in communication. Therefore, the translator should match the original author’ s intention with target text readers’ expectation to make sure that they yield adequate contextual effects with appropriate processing efforts. Implicitness is one of the features of Shakespeare’ s works. It is more demanding for the translators to catch and transfer to the target readers the implicit information. Zhu Shenghao and Liang Shiqiu, the two famous translators adopt different translation strategies to deal with the implicit information in the works.  相似文献

The basic assumption of Marxist criticism is that those who control a society’s economy also control or largely influence its material, cultural, and intellectual products. The Marxist criticism theory in Uncle Tom’s Cabin is about the reality of liberation theology, and twentieth-century political resistance movement in order to expose the evilness of slavery.  相似文献

Since the study of Shakespeare’s sonnets came to China, people come to an agreement that there is more than one theme running through these sonnets. The most popular and well-accepted ones are singing for fairness, kindness and truth, singing for friendship, and singing for love.Among all these themes, time, running through these sonnets from the beginning to the end,is absolutely one of the most important. In the eyes of the poet, time is cruel and destructive;however,he figures out poetry as a key way to triumph over it.This article attempts to argue for the triumph of poetry over time in Shakespeare’s sonnets based on an analysis to the poetry.  相似文献

In this paper we present a regularized Newton-type method for ill-posed problems, by using the A-smooth regularization to solve the linearized ill-posed equations. For noisy data a proper a posteriori stopping rule is used that yields convergence of the Newton iteration to a solution, as the noise level goes to zero, under certain smoothness conditions on the nonlinear operator. Some appropriate assumptions on the closedness and smoothness of the starting value and the solution are shown to lead to optimal convergence rates.  相似文献

The purpose of this essay is to study whether the linguistic behaviour of adult women using hedging and tags as indicative of an intrinsically tentative gender identity or of the effects of male dominant position through analyzing daily conversations of the heterosexual couples. The small scale study employs the methodology, namely, recording spontaneous and natural spoken conversation from authentic interaction with the permission of the ten male-female couples.Digital record pen with an omnidirectional microphone are placed in the central living area of each couple’s home. Then discourse analysis provides data making it possible to support Fishman’s claim that women use tag questions and ’you know’ not because women are not being really sure of themselves,or are looking to the addressee for confirmation, but because men in a dominant position often refuse to take responsibility for the smooth conduct of interpersonal relations, women use tag questions and ’you know’ to elicit and maintain conversations.  相似文献

No masterpiece by great writers is single-sided.It is always polyhedron and is bound to show new sides if we read it in a different perspective.Traditionally,"the Mayor of Casterbridge",one of the important novels by Thomas Hardy,is an illustration of the inevitable doom of the patriarchal economy in the English countryside in the 19th century England due to the merciless squeeze by industrial expansion. However, considering the widespread accepted theory of Adam Smith’s economic man and moral man,we could find that man are always in conflict between the two.Someone who are very rational and perfectly informed to pursue their own profits and wealth regardless of others’ interests could always successfully gain their wealth with the cost of losing their own happiness, while others who always care about someone else, put themselves in someone else’s places, and regard someone else’s happiness as their concerns could eventually get their real happiness and sweet life with a sympathetic heart.Adam Smith thinks that the egoism(economic man) and the altruism(moral man) are both human’s natural instincts.Only a moderately prudent balance and union between the two could both develop the economy and gain the happiness. In "The Mayor of Casterbridge",Henchard’s tragedy just lies in the abundance of egoism but the shortage of altruism. That’s to say,he possesses too many characteristics of economic man but too little of moral man. Then Henchard inevitably begins his tragic way with no repentance.  相似文献

Hemingway established a well-known literary theory - iceberg principle. He said he always attempted to create his literary works according to this principle. In his opinion,if a prose writer has a pretty clear idea of what he writes about, then he can omit the things he knows, and the readers will strongly feel that what the writer has omitted seems to have been written as long as what he writes is authentic.Hemingway himself once said,"The dignity of movement of an iceberg is due to only one eighth of it being above water."Here, one eighth refers to the information given by the author, and the rest refers to the unwrit ten information that can be acquired in readers’imagination on the basis of the one eighth. The Killers is a good example of Hemingway’s iceberg principle. This essay will analyse the characters in it to show how the principle was used in this short story. With no doubt the iceberg principle leaves a large space for the readers to imagine and better understand Hemingway’s works.  相似文献

A new, general type of planar linkages is presented, which extends the classical linkages developed by Kempe consisting of two single-looped kinematic chains of linkages, interconnected by revolute hinges. Together with a locking device, these new linkages have only one degree of freedom (DOF), which makes them ideal for serving as deployable structures for different purposes. Here, we start with a fresh matrix method of analysis for double-loop planar linkages, using 2D transformation matrices and a new symbolic notation. Further inspection for one case of Kempe’s linkages is provided. Basing on the inspection, by means of some novel algebraic and geometric techniques, one particularly fascinating solution was found. Physical models were built to show that the derivation in this paper is valid and the new mechanisms are correct.  相似文献

Northrop Frye’ s four narrative forms:romance, tragedy, irony, and comedy can help explain the problematic structure of Margaret Atwood’ s novel Cat’ s Eye,in which the narrative,as well as certain other literary features, indicates that it is essentially a come dy - a story of how a hero forms a desirable new society in the face of strong opposition. But this comedy is also ironic.  相似文献

with the rapid development of English education, children’s teaching is becoming more and more important in the edu-cation system. Children’s English has the characteristics of enlightenment. The application of drama teaching method can makethe abstract knowledge vivid, which is helpful to arouse students’ enthusiasm and better understand knowledge. Therefore, teach-ers should follow the principles of English drama teaching, make clear the teaching purpose, and design targeted drama links to pro-mote the rational application of drama teaching method in English classroom.  相似文献

Kensuke’s Kingdom is a highly readable British survival novel written by Michael Morourgo. It is not only a survival novel, but also a realistic novel for the children. By the two disparate characters, the writer wants to discuss the effects of the war, which is the deeper meaning of this novel. Writing war and the effects of the war is a heavy but necessary topic for children’s literature. Books like Kensuke’s Kingdom can be woven into young readers’ developing senses of themselves, extending their imaginations and helping them to understand the world from unaccustomed points of view.  相似文献

Thousands of years ago,the Jews were forced to leave their homeland and began to live an exiled life and gradually melted into other neighboring peoples. However, they were not welcomed by others. For thousands of years,Jews’ "Bible" has become a source of literary and artistic creation, but the image of Jews were excluded from the literary and artistic creation, even if there were some occasions, they were but described as autistic Misers or loan shark.Shakespeare is one of the most outstanding writers;he described many people from all walks of life in his works, the Jews, also included.Based on the corpus of Shakespeare’s works,we can see that most adjectives used by Shakespeare to modify the word "Jew"are derogative words. Therefore,we can prove that anti-Semitism does exist in Shakespeare’s works.  相似文献

The two English versions of Lu Xun’s stories, translated by Julia Lovell and the Rangs, are to be studied from the ecotranslatological perspective. A comparative study of the two English versions is made to figure out how the two translators linguistically and culturally make adaptive selections in the process of translation of Lu Xun’s stories—In other words, how the eco-environment has greatly influenced the two translators’ decisions to make adaptations and choices in linguistic and cultural aspects. The thesis discovers that the eco-environment has greatly influenced the process of translating Lu Xun’s stories into English and eco-translatology is feasible to analyze the two translations, that both the Yangs and Lovell have offered successful translations by making adaptive selections and selective transformations. Therefore, neither of the two translations is superior or inferior to one another in different translational eco- environments. Hopefully, the thesis may enrich current researches on the Yang’s and Lovell’s translations and may be useful for the further study of applying eco-translatology to studies on other translators and their works.  相似文献

Gary Snyder is a famous American poet in the 1960s.His works often reflect Zen thought, which highly influenced the Beat Generation of that time, and even the whole western society. This article attempts to discuss some of the possible aspects in which Snyder’s Zen diverts from Chinese Zen thought. To find out the answer, four of Snyder’s poetry collections were mainly consulted,as well as information about the environment that he’d been living in.The discrepancy this article will show case is three-folded:first,what Snyder pursued might be"square Zen",which is different from Chinese Zen;second, his poems integrated some ideas from Indian folklores, thus contradicting that of Zen;third, giving consideration to his western background and specific historical environment,he might misinterpret Chinese Zen thought unconsciously or intentionally. This is an area which so far no current studies about Snyder have probed into,so the results are just tentative and exploratory.  相似文献
