The purpose of this research is to explore the link between reputation and relational quality in the context of student-university relationships, based on a perceptual analysis of the participants' subjective views (i.e., factor analysis with Q methodology). To this end, the researchers selected a private university located in the Northeast region of the United States as the research setting, with students of the university serving as research participants. The researchers proposed three research questions regarding the link between student-university relational quality and university reputation. The findings of this research indicate that the concepts of relational quality and reputation can be “variantly” intertwined on the basis of individual stakeholders' subjective views of their experience, interactions, and information, rather than intertwined in a linear way.  相似文献

Recent research has shown an increase in academic dishonesty in different educational systems and levels, and negative effects on the academic institution, society and the students themselves. In order to describe the differential perception of academic dishonesty by Spanish secondary school and university students, and to study its consequences on psychological well-being, comparisons between two groups of students from secondary education and university were carried out, using measures of the perception and execution by others of dishonest behaviour, as well as psychological well-being and satisfaction with life and learning. University students revealed greater laxity of conscience, considering dishonest behaviour to be less serious and more common than secondary school students, and indulging in more dishonest behaviour themselves. They also showed greater spiritual, personal, community and environmental well-being, and greater satisfaction with learning. However, transcendental spiritual well-being was greater in the group of secondary education students. Academic dishonesty was associated with satisfaction with learning in both groups, and with satisfaction with life in secondary education. Its link with measures of spiritual well-being was greater in the group of secondary education students, being linked to transcendental well-being only in the group of university students. No gender differences were observed in any of the variables.  相似文献

This article investigates the meaning of the belief in a just world (BJW) for justice cognition at school and for subjective well-being. We hypothesized that BJW should serve as a resource helping to maintain positive well-being and to assimilate experienced injustice. The results of two studies with Portuguese school students (7th–12th grade) and one with university students were consistent with our hypotheses. The more the students endorsed the BJW, the more they evaluated their school grades and their teachers’ and their peers’ behavior towards them as just and the more they were satisfied with life in general. Moreover, the more students felt fairly treated by their teachers, the less they felt distressed at school. Life satisfaction varied however independently of school-specific justice cognitions. This pattern of results persisted when controlled for achievement (grades) as well as for personality dispositions such as self-efficacy, self-esteem, and general trust. The implications of these results for further studies on adolescent development are discussed.  相似文献

Decades of student persistence and retention literature has brought to light factors of social, academic, and religious fit that influence a student's decision to remain at or depart from an institution. At Christian institutions, increasing student pluralism raises the likelihood that students will not fit religiously. This qualitative study of 21 first-time, full-time students contributes to the existing literature by exploring how students who already feel they do not fit for religious reasons work at constructing a sense of fit at a Christian research university. Many participants coped with religious discontinuity by redefining specifically Christian practices and teachings in terms that were personally palatable: as either general moral lessons that would help them to be a better person or as cultural insights that would benefit them social and professionally in the future. In many cases, university staff were instrumental. Finally, participants worked to construct an acceptable level of fit, or fit threshold, through various combinations of social fit, academic fit, and religious fit, often compensating for one with others. As Christian institutions increasingly invite students from diverse religious backgrounds into their campus community, understanding ways that these students attempt to adapt to religious incongruence will be paramount.  相似文献

宗教信仰对少数民族大学生各方面都有重要影响,研究从心理学角度探讨了宗教信仰对少数民族大学生心理健康和主观幸福感的影响。通过SCL-90和主观幸福感量表调查得知,少数民族大学生的心理健康水平总体良好,但在躯体化、强迫、焦虑、恐惧因子方面心理健康水平较低;少数民族大学生主观幸福感总体水平较高,他们在总体生活满意度和积极情感水平较高、消极情感较低;宗教信仰对少数民族大学心理健康和主观幸福感起积极的调节作用。  相似文献

In a globalising world, international mobility in higher education is an important phenomenon for students and higher education institutions. It is therefore essential to understand the factors that determine international students' satisfaction with higher education institutions that serve as hosts. Through research of an exploratory, quantitative nature, this study presents results from a survey among 289 incoming international students in two universities in Germany and Portugal. Our findings show that the factor we define as educational experience was an important determinant of student satisfaction. Furthermore, the appraisal of academic reputation is dependent on the university. We conclude that satisfaction with academic factors is more important for international students than satisfaction with non-academic aspects.  相似文献

A common finding in the area of motivation and psychological well-being is that internally motivated individuals exhibit greater levels of happiness than externally motivated individuals. In this paper we answer the question of whether internally or seemingly externally motivated students report higher levels of satisfaction than individuals who are conflicted in their motivations or are amotivated. We show that both seemingly externally motivated individuals and internally motivated individuals report higher levels of happiness than non-motivated individuals or individuals who are conflicted in theirmotivations. These findings are consistent with self-determination theory. These findings are important in recognizing that well internalized external motivations are likely not detrimental to the well-being of undergraduate college students. Aspirations which are consistent, regardless of whether they are internal or seemingly external likely result in higher levels of happiness among university students.  相似文献

This study sought to investigate the predictive relationship that dimensions of attachment shared with an array of indicators of psychosocial well-being and mental health in a sample of students making the transition to higher education. One hundred and thirty-one students completed the Vulnerable Attachment Styles Questionnaire (VASQ) prior to enrolment in their first semester of university education. Subsequently, the students completed measures related to perceived loneliness, institutional integration, psychological need satisfaction, depressive symptoms and ways of coping during their first semester. Results suggested that higher scores in relation to the insecurity dimension of the VASQ were instrumental in predicting negative psychosocial well-being and mental health. The results discussed the key vulnerability dimensions of attachment when seeking to predict indices of psychosocial well-being and mental health.  相似文献

Abstract

This study adopted a single-group pretest-posttest design to explore the changes in 2,876 undergraduate students in positive youth development, psychological well-being and desired graduate attributes after they took a leadership subject utilising the positive youth development approach at one university in Hong Kong. The subject aims to promote undergraduates’ leadership qualities, particularly their intra- and inter-personal competencies. Participants completed the same objective outcome evaluation forms before and after taking the subject. We found that the participants showed significant positive changes in most positive youth development attributes (i.e. self-determination, cognitive competence, behavioural competence, social competence, emotional competence, self-efficacy, spirituality, and clear and positive identity), life satisfaction and desired graduate attributes (including problem-solving ability, critical thinking, life-long learning and ethical leadership). The findings demonstrate that leadership subjects can promote the positive youth development of Chinese university students and enhance their psychosocial well-being and desired graduate attributes.  相似文献

Expressed satisfaction of university students toward their campus environment was measured before and after three conditions: (1) participation in small-group discussions that had as their purpose the formulation of recommendations to be presented to the university president and the administrative council, (2) participation in small-group discussions that provided students an opportunity to express feelings to each other, and (3) no treatment.Overall satisfaction with the university environment was not altered. Students in the Experimental Group expressed an increased satisfaction with several specific areas of their environment. The findings indicate that students would benefit from programs that allow them to express opinions and ideas concerning changes and development of their environment.  相似文献

为了考察体育专业大学生主观幸福感的状况及其影响因素,采用量表法对福建省五所高校的634名体育专业学生进行问卷调查。结果表明:体育专业大学生运动技能学习中的整体情感体验趋向幸福但强度不佳;女生的主观幸福感水平显著高于男生,专业情感体验城市生源的显著高于农村生源的,大三、大四学生专业运动技能学习体验显著高于大一学生;人际交往、学校自然环境、社会比较、教师模范作用对体育专业大学生的主观幸福感有重要影响,人际交往的影响力最大。  相似文献

采用问卷法,对417名农村留守学生进行无记名测试,以412名农村非留守学生为参照对象。结果显示:农村留守学生的主观幸福感低于非留守学生,其中,在生活满意度上,显著性地低于非留守学生(p〈0.05);农村留守学生的自尊、一般效能感、生活事件应激量与幸福感显著性相关,并均进入回归方程。据此,提出提高农村留守学生幸福感的建议,促使农村留守学生健康成长。  相似文献

目的:探讨大学生心理控制源与主观幸福感的特征、特点及其相关关系。方法:采用《内控性、有势力的他人及机遇量表》、《幸福感指数、总体情感指数量表》进行测试。结果:(1)大学生的幸福感分数较高,且偏向于内控。(2)主观幸福感分数与内控性因子显著正相关,与机遇因子、有势力的他人因子显著负相关。(3)有势力的他人因子存在显著性别差异。(4)大二学生的主观幸福感显著高于大四学生。结论:大学生尤其是大二学生幸福感较高,男生比女生更容易受重要他人的影响,大四学生更相信运气、机遇的影响,大学生的心理控制源和主观幸福感存在显著相关,可以通过归因训练来影响他们的幸福感水平。  相似文献

目的:对军校护理专业学生进行基于积极心理学的"护理心理学"课程改革,评价干预对提升学生主观幸福感的效果.方法:"护理心理学"课程教学内容中增加积极心理学内容,课程开展期间学生持续2周每日自主记下当天发生的3件让其感到幸福的事情.干预前后采用主观幸福感问卷对某军校护理学专业三年级36名学生的生活满意度、积极态度和消极态度进行两次测量.结果:干预前后学生的积极态度有明显差异(t=-2.172,p=0.037),生活满意度和消极态度无明显差异.结论:基于积极心理学的"护理心理学"课程改革有效提升了军校护理专业学生的积极态度.  相似文献

How do university students perceive the key relationship between their university education and the labour market? This article describes the perceptions that 827 Egyptian and Omani seniors—both males and females, studying commerce, education, and engineering—hold about that relationship. For these students, a major motivation for attending university is their perception that it will help them get better and more secure employment. They are also confident it will help them enter appropriate careers. However, they are less satisfied with the way in which university curricula prepare them effectively for appropriate careers. In addition, an analysis by nationality, gender, and field of study revealed statistically significant differences among the participants. The Omani students are more confident about their education than the Egyptians—who call for more reform of their curricula to fit labour market requirements. Women are more motivated than men to enter a career after university. The field of study had only a small impact on students’ perceptions of this key relationship.  相似文献
