图书馆的价值是读者价值、社会价值、资金提供者价值、馆员价值的动态有机综合。资金提供者价值是图书馆价值存在的前提和保证,读者价值是图书馆价值的核心和最直接体现,馆员价值是创造图书馆价值的基础,社会价值又是形成图书馆价值的基本资源和环境条件,并全面影响着资金提供者、读者、馆员价值的形成和提高。这四种价值相互促进又相互制约,构成了图书馆的基本价值体系。价值服务战略的核心就是如何围绕这四梦够值誓价值体系采取服务战略,来努力实现图书馆价值的最大化。  相似文献

在图书馆和档案馆职业行为中,因为利益追求和价值判断上的差异,图书馆员和档案馆员(后文统称"馆员")在职业活动中常常需要进行正确的行为选择.正确理解馆员职业道德原则、坚持正确的职业价值是一名合格的馆员所必须保持的职业要求. 1 馆员道德选择 1.1 馆员道德选择.道德选择是指"行为主体(个人或社会集团)在一定目的和道德意识支配下,对某种道德行为所作的自愿自觉的抉择",或是"在一定的道德意识的支配下,根据某种道德标准在不同的价值准则或善恶冲突之间所作的自觉自愿的抉择".首先,道德选择应是建立在道德自律和为道德而道德的理论基础之上的自主的选择.其次,馆员道德选择要考虑到馆员道德所具有的公共性、公益性与服务性等显著特点.据此,我们可将馆员道德选择表述为:馆员在一定的道德意识支配下,根据职业道德原则和规范,对其职业行为所作的自由自觉的选择.  相似文献

对于图书馆管理而言,人本管理既是一种思想理念,又是一种管理方法.由于人本管理的核心在于尊重人、关心人,以实现人的价值为目标,因而图书馆人本管理的对象包括馆员和用户两类;其内涵是以人为中心来配置管理资源,培植管理与服务的人文精神,以馆员的价值为管理的基础,以用户需求的差别化满足和公平自由的机制为服务的目标;由此而体现出图书馆人本管理的特征:以馆员的自我管理为主、建立健康的民主机制、以用户为本的管理与服务、图书馆与馆员和用户的共同发展.  相似文献

Teaching computer literacy to library patrons is an entirely appropriate activity for librarians in their role as liaisons between information and those who are seeking it. At the Norris Medical Library of the University of Southern California there are four main computer activities: information management workshops, provision of a microcomputer laboratory and classroom, formation of user groups, and installation of a campus-wide electronic bulletin board. Benefits to the library include: increased computer knowledge for librarians, better understanding of the information needs of the campus community, mutual respect and friendshid between librarians and partons, and introduction to the library of patrons who may otherwise never have come.  相似文献

Amid growing trends toward curriculum reform on many campuses, librarians may find an opportunity to contribute significantly to the improvement of undergraduate education. In the Bibliographic Instruction and Writing Across the Curriculum movements, recent developments suggest that librarians may work more closely with their classroom colleagues to create more effective learning situations. While curriculum reform has a most apparent impact on user education, it also touches upon collection development (and bibliographic control), reference and circulation activity, professional development and the library's public image. At Washington State University, the library is prominently represented on a campus-wide committee to develop a new core course under the auspices of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The librarians involved have expanded their professional practice in unexpected ways, causing an increased respect for the library among teaching faculty, and an added dimension to their careers as academics. 文章由“职业”、“尊严”二词入手,在此基础上,对图书馆人职业尊严的内涵和外延进行探究.指出图书馆人职业尊严的内涵体现为自尊、他尊和道尊三个方面;图书馆人职业尊严的外延则体现在图书馆工作的各个岗位上.在此基础上,提出维护图书馆人职业尊严的对策.最后,分析了对图书馆人职业尊严探讨的意义:即增进图书馆人与读者的融洽关系、图书馆人自我价值重构以及社会对图书馆人工作至上性的认识.  相似文献

Many academic librarians have ideas or opportunities for teaching information literacy courses for the library, outside the scope of their regular positions. Some additional librarians are asked to consider teaching credit-bearing courses for other departments at their institutions, based on graduate degrees they hold in fields besides library science. Academic librarians who face either option are often asked to provide detailed information on how colleagues at other institutions handle arrangements: payment, coverage of library services while they are teaching, and proving their suitability for teaching in a given subject area. Unfortunately, the data available on their work is both scant and scattered. The authors surveyed librarians at 350 academic libraries across the United States to gather and analyze data on these and numerous related aspects of librarians’ teaching for departments outside the library. SUMMARY

Electronic resources (ER) constitute an increasingly significant portion of library collections, both in usage and cost. It is vital to design easy, efficient access to these collections as users have other online options to meet their information needs. Thus, an important goal for ER librarians is to provide a usable ER site. Formal usability testing is a powerful tool to help librarians create the most useful site for their customers. This chapter will cover the basic components of usability testing and suggest ways in which ER librarians can lead efforts in their institution to improve the customer experience with library Web sites. ER librarians can create buy-in from library staff for usability testing as a worthwhile method to improve access to ER through involvement in the process and sharing results of the testing. The responsibilities of ER librarians vary from one institution to another, but all share in the mission of the profession to serve its customers' information needs. This chapter addresses the possibilities of usability testing as a force to maximize the user experience with the collections ER librarians manage.  相似文献
