The convergence clubs literature in applied growth theory suggests that countries that differ in terms of structural characteristics and initial conditions tend to experience diverging growth performances. What is the role of technological knowledge for the formation of clubs? The paper investigates this unexplored question by carrying out an empirical study of the cross-country distribution of knowledge in a large sample of developed and developing economies in the 1990s. The results indicate the existence of three technology clubs characterized by markedly different levels of development. The clubs also differ with respect to the dynamics of their capabilities over the decade, as the most advanced group and the intermediate one are found to be much more dynamic than the large cluster of less developed economies. 相似文献

土地利用结构优化配置是实现土地利用效益增长的核心内容之一,研究两者之间的时空变化关系对于解决我国城市化快速发展中面临的一系列问题具有重要的现实意义。本文借助信息论原理,分析1997年～2007年湖北省嘉鱼县土地利用结构信息熵与均衡度动态演变特征;运用层次分析法原理构建简明化的指标体系,探讨其研究期间土地利用效益的变化特点;同时利用灰色关联分析法比较研究土地利用结构与效益变化的定量关系。研究表明：①1997年～2007年嘉鱼县土地利用结构信息熵与均衡度呈上升趋势,土地利用综合效益在此基础上出现较快增长,土地利用结构信息熵与土地利用综合效益变化之间呈现出较明显的相关性,关联度为0.7679;②不同土地类型的结构变化与土地利用综合效益变化之间分为强、较强、中等3种关联性,强关联的是居民点及工矿用地、园地,关联度均在0.8以上,较强关联的是林地、未利用地与耕地,关联度都高于0.7,中等关联的是交通用地与水域,关联度分别为0.6714与0.6672;③合理的土地利用结构是土地利用效益有效发挥的前提,土地利用效益变化是土地利用结构时空变化的即时效应与累积效应的共同结果。 相似文献

In the most prestigious journals of many disciplines, female researchers are underrepresented. To better understand this phenomenon, we compare the proportions of female authors in all leading management and organization studies (MOS) journals, explore underlying gendered publication patterns, and analyze factors explaining differences between journals. We examine the gendered distribution of authorship in these journals using a complete, original time series. The comprehensive data set includes all articles published in fourteen leading journals in the MOS field, comprising 77,472 cases (authors) and 43,673 articles. The findings show that women have been underrepresented in all leading MOS journals until now. However, our findings reveal significant differences between journals, with some journals lagging far behind their peers. We ask why some journals score much higher than others and show that gendered authorship constellations and research topic specialization consistently explain female representation differences between journals. More specifically, we find a dominance of ‘men's clubs’ when it comes to authorship constellations and thriving ‘male islands’ when it comes to research topics. In contrast, ‘women's clubs’ are far less prevalent and no ‘female island’ exists. Interestingly, female authorship and ‘shared islands’ play a particularly powerful role in narrowing the gender gap in leading journals. Our results provide a benchmark for female representation across leading journals and allow for the formulation of concrete research policy goals and directions for change. 相似文献

运用ESDA方法对1997-2009年我国341个城市专利产出的时空演变特征进行分析;在此基础上构建空间计量模型,对我国城市专利产出的空间俱乐部收敛特征进行检验,并探讨其形成机制。研究结果表明:我国城市专利产出的空间自相关特征十分显著,且空间依赖程度在考察期内持续增强,由此带来城市专利产出空间差异在全国层面趋于发散。然而,在依据空间依赖模式进行分组的区域内部却表现出相异的时空演变特征。在H-H和L-L两个"空间俱乐部"内部,城市专利产出均呈现趋同迹象,但H-H组趋同特征不具显著性,同时组间专利产出差距不断扩大。研究在一定程度上揭示了空间异质性、局域地理溢出对专利产出整体发散和多稳态趋同的贡献和推动作用,并在此分析的基础上提出了相应的对策建议。 相似文献

Rapid advances in mobile technologies and devices have made mobile banking increasingly important in mobile commerce and financial services. Using innovation diffusion theory and knowledge-based trust literature, this study develops a research model to examine the effect of innovation attributes (perceived relative advantage, ease of use and compatibility) and knowledge-based trust (perceived competence, benevolence and integrity) on attitude and behavioral intention about adopting (or continuing to use) mobile banking across potential and repeat customers. Based on a survey of 368 participants (177 for potential customers and 191 for repeat customers), this study uses a structural equation modeling approach to investigate the research model. The results indicate that perceived relative advantage, ease of use, compatibility, competence and integrity significantly influence attitude, which in turn lead to behavioral intention to adopt (or continue-to-use) mobile banking. Additionally, by using multi-group analysis with t-statistics, the results found that the antecedents of attitude toward mobile banking differ between potential and repeat customers. Previous studies explored the adoption of various information technologies. However, there is little empirical research on factors influencing the adoption of data mining tools (DMTs), particularly at an individual level. This study investigates how users perceive and adopt DMTs to broaden practical knowledge for the business intelligence community. First, this study develops a theoretical model based on the Technology Acceptance Model 3, and then examines its perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and its ability to explain users’ intentions to use DMTs. The model's determinants include 4 categories: the task-oriented dimension (job relevance, output quality, result demonstrability, response time, and format), control beliefs (computer self-efficacy and perceptions of external control), emotion (computer anxiety), and intrinsic motivation (computer playfulness). This study also surveys the moderating effect of experience and output quality on the determinants of DMT adoption and use. An empirical study involving 206 DMT users was conducted to evaluate the model using structural equation modeling. Results demonstrate that the proposed model explains 58% of the variance. The findings of this study have interesting implications with respect to DMT adoption, both for researchers and practitioners. 相似文献

The present study examines certain challenges that KDD (Knowledge Discovery in Databases) in general and data mining in particular pose for normative privacy and public policy. In an earlier work (see Tavani, 1999), I argued that certain applications of data-mining technology involving the manipulation of personal data raise special privacy concerns. Whereas the main purpose of the earlier essay was to show what those specific privacy concerns are and to describe how exactly those concerns have been introduced by the use of certain KDD and data-mining techniques, the present study questions whether the use of those techniques necessarily violates the privacy of individuals. This question is considered vis-à-vis a recent theory of privacy advanced by James Moor (1997). The implications of that privacy theory for a data-mining policy are also considered. 相似文献
