Alice Walker is one of the prominent American writers in American women’s literature and black literature in 1950s-1960s. Everyday Use is regarded as Alice Walker’s best-written short story. The prevailing opinion among the critics about this story is that Dee is the traitor of black American’s cultural heritage, and the mother and Maggie are the hope of true value of the African Americans’ tradition and heritage; however, after considering the historical and cultural background of the story, we may safely come to the conclusion that Dee actually took the first step toward the awakening of self-consciousness of the African Americans women.  相似文献

Inhabited by women with male characteristics and men possessing female features, the Dunnet Landing in Sarah Orne Jewett’s masterpiece The Country of the Pointed Firs is depicted as a harmonious land of beauty, from which Jewett’s preference of androgyny is fully expressed. In this novel, androgyny is used as a means by Jewett to achieve her feministic idea of the equality between men and women and that neither of the sex has prejudice upon the other in this combination. Through a detailed textual analysis, this paper reveals the androgyny elements in this novel and discusses about the possibility of androgyny as a way out for feminism.  相似文献

Gary Snyder is a famous American poet in the 1960s.His works often reflect Zen thought, which highly influenced the Beat Generation of that time, and even the whole western society. This article attempts to discuss some of the possible aspects in which Snyder’s Zen diverts from Chinese Zen thought. To find out the answer, four of Snyder’s poetry collections were mainly consulted,as well as information about the environment that he’d been living in.The discrepancy this article will show case is three-folded:first,what Snyder pursued might be"square Zen",which is different from Chinese Zen;second, his poems integrated some ideas from Indian folklores, thus contradicting that of Zen;third, giving consideration to his western background and specific historical environment,he might misinterpret Chinese Zen thought unconsciously or intentionally. This is an area which so far no current studies about Snyder have probed into,so the results are just tentative and exploratory.  相似文献

"Early Autumn"is written by Langston Hughes, the language is simple and graceful, without the ornate style, and the descrip tion of the characters’psychology and the scene is very distinguished, the characters’inner psychological activities are displayed by Langs ton’s excellent application of the Stream of Consciousness. The plain and simple conversation between Mary and Bill greatly reveals that the female character is experiencing the emotional undercurrents beneath the calm surface.what impresses on our readers is that Mary was too immature to solve the problems of love. From this point,we may learn about the practical significance which may benefit the young couple in reality.  相似文献

Edmund Husserl’s first important move about phenomenology is the“phenomenological reduction”which means that we should reduce the external world to the contents of our consciousness alone. However, Hans-Georg Gadamer holds the opinion that all interpretation of a past work consists in a dialogue between past and present(Eagleton, T. 2009:62). Gadamer’s famous theory is fusion of horizons which means that the event of understanding comes about when our own“horizon”of historical meanings and assumptions“fuses”with the“horizon”within which the work itself is placed. The present thesis takes Hawthorne’s YoungGoodmanBrown as an example to illustrate different understandings when readers apply the two different theories.  相似文献

<正>In early July, FDA granted traditional full approval of Leqembi for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease(AD). This is the first approved medication proven to slow the progression of AD’s clinical symptoms. A phase three trial among 50-to 90-year-old patients with early AD showed that it can do so by about 27% over an 18-month period. While we cannot extrapolate(推断) beyond 18 months, this represents about a six-month delay in progression of AD symptoms.  相似文献
