This paper intends to discuss how to develop the learners’autonomous English learning abilities through strategy teaching.The problems of learning strategies were analyzed.Developing learners’strategies through classroom teaching is an efficient way to foster learner autonomy.The results prove that using the content of regular classroom teaching,which is a meaning ful context for the development of responsibility,can not only enhance the learning effect,but also save time for strategy training.The teacher’s guiding role in autonomous learning should never be ignored.Developing autonomous English learning in voca tional colleges in China is a long-term pedagogical goal.  相似文献

The study was aimed at exploring the relationship between teaching approach and students’learning motivation.The participants were two college English teachers and their fixed group of students.The research lasted 16 weeks.The instruments used in the study were Attitude/Motivation Test Battery(AMTB) and classroom observation.Analyzing by the mean of the AM TB result,researchers got the popular tendencies of students’learning motivation level every four weeks.Comparing the change of students’learning motivation level and teacher participants’frequency of using the recommended teaching approach,this arti cle intends to achieve two purposes:1) Is students’learning motivation related to their teachers’teaching approach? 2) Among the approach recommended by literature,which works the best in the colleges in China?  相似文献

While the majority of nonnative speaker English teachers teach alongside NS teachers,research on the role of native speaker English teachers in China’s teaching context and the attitudes of university students towards them have been rarely conducted.This essay discusses the implications of cultural differences for the language classroom,and the different cultures of learning with regard to language teaching and learning in China and the Wes.The conclusion suggests that it is of great importance to have a good sense of cultural awareness and an open mind for cultural interactions,in order to benefit both language learners and native speaker teachers in the cross-cultural classroom.  相似文献

The learners’ motivation and attitude toward English for Specific Purposes(ESP) is always an influential element for the quality of ESP course.Teachers should at first get to know the learners’ motivation and attitude toward this course so as to teach the course well.Therefore,by means of questionnaire survey on the students’ motivation and attitudes who took accounting English in M University as their elective course during the next term in 2009,and through qualitative study,such as interviews,diary and classroom observation on the accounting English choosers in the next term in 2010,some conclusions are discovered that there are about 4 factors and 3 variables among the students’ motivations,and their attitudes toward this course is positive in general.Both accounting and English are their learning targets,and oral English and translation are their favors.The combination of blackboard-writing and multimedia technology is preferred than any of the other single teaching models.But the shortage of class hours and the lack of systematic arrangement also affect the students’ motivation and their learning efficiency.  相似文献

This study based on researcher’s adult oral English teaching experience,takes an adult English learner as a case study to explore the characteristics of an autonomous English learner.From analysis of data (observation and teaching diary),this study elaborates three common characteristics of an autonomous learner:(1) Firstly,an autonomous learner has a high motivation;(2) Secondly,an autonomous learner is good at trying different learning strategies,especially metacognitive strategy to manage learning proceeding.(3) Lastly,an autonomous learner readily takes charge of their own learning by making plan and reflecting on it.Meanwhile,this study presents teacher’s role as a facilitator and consultor and some factors that need taking into consideration,offering a precious experience for future’s fostering of autonomous English learners.  相似文献

The development of foreign lan- guage learners" pragmatic competence is an im- portant objective of foreign language teaching and learning, which is greatly influenced by classroom teaching. This paper first discusses the definition of pragmatic competence, and then analyses the features of English classroom teach- ingand the relationship between pragmatic competence and classroom teaching. This paper covers an experimental study with the application of cooperative learning in the college English teaching to vocational students. It intends to find answers to the following questions: how do students cooperate in cooperative learning? Can cooperative learning promote students’ learning? The author conducts an experiment by applying recording. Based on the above research work, this result has been reached: cooperative learning can promote students’mastering of vocabulary and grammar. The significance of peer observations has been emphasized in English language teaching as a powerful tool to support understanding and development of one’s teaching beliefs and actual practice.This thesis first presents the position and necessity of employing peer observation in teacher’s professional development with reference to the literature,and then it outlines the process of the author’s implementation of peer observation in classroom in terms of pre-,during-and post-observation.Data interpretation provides more insights into the strengths and problems of the author’s classroom teaching and arrangement,and the possible solutions accordingly.  相似文献
