AbstractA factor analytic study of the Minnesota Teacher Attitude Inventory indicated that a 'Traditionalistic" belief about child control was measured by that instrument. The relationships between the "Traditionalism" factor, the 16 PF, and ACT were examined for 101 students prior to admission into professional education courses. The naive student who espoused "Traditionalism" tended to be anxious, less intelligent and male. The ACT "English" and "Mathematics" test scores seemed to correspond more with measures of intelligence than the "Social Studies" and "Natural Science" scores, although all four together defined an "achievement" factor. Evidently the student registering greater achievement was "tender-minded" and "imaginative." Differences between male and female students who intend to teach suggest that they may best be taught differently. 相似文献

The Rocking-Horse Winner is a sardonic tale employing devices of the fairy tale and a mockingly detached tone to teach the value of love and the dangers of money. Itshows Lawrence's distain for conspicuous consumption, crass materialism,and an emotionally distant style of parenting during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. This paper analyzes the tale from a structural perspective. Through a structural exploration in personality, personal relationships, and a grand opposing framework, this paper reveals the plot development and the theme. 相似文献

A literary representation can give us grief. J.M. Coetzee's ‘The Problem of Evil’ follows the crisis of reading of his main character Elizabeth Costello as she struggles to comprehend discursive images of evil. Costello's trouble with reading is not attributed to a cognitive deficiency in her ability to read the text but to a psychical disturbance she experiences while reading. Siljander, P. 1984. The Historico‐Philosophical Background of N.F.S. Grundtvig's Concept of Folk High School. Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research 28, 87‐99. The paper deals with the notion of history presented by N.F. S. Grundtvig, the Danish promoter of the folk cause, and the connections between his interpretation of history and his views on education. It is particularly emphasized that Grundtvig's idea of folk high school can be interpreted against a background of his philosophy of history. Grundtvig's notion of history is based on the idea that human development is always realized and manifested in a national context. The construction and creation of a national culture are hence a necessary prerequisite for the progress of general human civilization and universal culture. Thus, also the educational institutions should become aware of their task as promoters of national culture and general human civilization. 相似文献
