Speed and diversification of technological as well as political development change the prediction of whether there will be a shortage or overflow of civil engineering students in Germany. In order to answer this question as satisfactorily as possible the interested reader will be provided with some of the latest data, as well as with the main traits of the German system of engineering education. Even though this brief communication only deals with civil engineers, many of the conclusions are also true for other relevant disciplines in German engineering. To what extent there will be a change in the ‘engineering system 2000’—only introduced in 1989—in the German Democratic Republic or, even more importantly, to what degree there will be a joint venture building industry in the two German states can only be guessed at. In any case there is a second momentum besides that of the European Market of 1993 which will strongly influence the recruitment and demand of civil engineering students in Germany. 相似文献

This article focusses on the topic of replicating historical experiments as learning and teaching devices. It will be argued that historical experiments replicated as close as possible to the original enable experiences that are intellectual as well as sensual in kind. It will be demonstrated that learning by replicating makes it possible to learn on different levels of human activity related to the mind and the body. It will be discussed what the notion of replication means and what one can learn by replicating. Furthermore, a case study will be introduced, the replication of a rotation apparatus (a kind of electric motor) which was developed by Michael Faraday in 1821. The case study reveals that reconstructing and redoing historical experimental situations disclose laboratory dimensions of natural sciences. I will give an account of the process of replicating this experiment and its relation to the historical background. At the end, the experiment will be placed in a broad historical context of electricity and motion in order to demonstrate that the case study is related to a history of experiments by which mechanical motion is produced through electrical means. 相似文献

Some educationalists predict that it will not be long before modern technology—especially the microchip—revolutionizes education, automating traditional teachers, tutors and industrial instructors into oblivion. In this paper I argue that such fears—or what some call hopes—are groundless. Few of the more important ways in which human teachers interact with students can be electronically simulated. For as far ahead as it is possible to see, educators will be people rather than computers, and the dominant educational medium will continue to be the printed and spoken word rather than the image on a screen. There will be no great boom in computer-assisted instruction (CAI); computers, video (including videodisc) and the other products of modern technology will advance their status as useful educational tools, but they will not revolutionize education. 相似文献

In the endeavor to develop general education, the province needs to spend additional funds accumulating to 2,610 million yuan during the Seventh Five-Year Plan period. Of that, 1,598 million yuan will be earmarked for implementing nine-year compulsory education. According to the person responsible for the Jiangsu Provincial Education Department, the increased amount of 1.598 billion yuan will be disbursed as follows: Of the total amount, 405 million yuan will be appropriated to primary schools (of this, 80 million will be spent on repairing dilapidated buildings and 325 million as increment of administrative expenditures as the norm of per-student annual expenditure is increased by 10 yuan over that of 1985); 425 million yuan will be appropriated to junior secondary schools (of this, 270 million yuan will be spent on building additional school buildings and on start-up costs as the enrollment will register a net growth of 325,000 students; 155 million yuan as increment of administrative expenditures due to the rising expenditure norm of 10 yuan per student per year); 263 million yuan will be spent as salary expenditures, 200 million as regular maintenance expenditures, 90 million yuan as funds to purchase laboratory instruments For township junior secondary schools, 25 million as on-the-job training expenditures for teachers of primary and junior secondary schools, and 190 million yuan as equipment expenditures For provincial and municipal Institutes of Education.'
