Yue Meiti has been in Kun Opera for 41 years. The long career is filled with honors in the field and beyond. She is a deputy to Shanghai People's Congress, and director of Chinese Dramatists Association. A state's first-grade performer, she has been granted awards of Plum Flower and White Magnolia Flower for her brilliant interpretations of traditional characters. All this started in 1954 when she was enrolled at age 12 in the Kun Opera class at the Shanghai Theatrical Academy. She learned to act as a young woman character type. Into the 相似文献

Abstract Female priests are a relatively new phenomenon in Hindu Indian culture. Positioned as outsiders within, they have been marginalized from the male-dominated priestly profession, even as they continue to challenge normative expectations surrounding their unconventional occupational choice. This study presents findings from a multi-methods qualitative study that, in addition to analyzing media reports about female Hindu priests of Pune city, interviewed 12 practicing priests. Utilizing data-driven lenses of embodied, emotional–spiritual, and aesthetic (performative) labor, findings from this study revealed how participants communicatively and strategically diffused resistance and redefined competence by negotiating contradictory aspects of their professional realities. 相似文献

Changing images of work in discourse both portray and co-constitute the shift from an industrial to a postindustrial economy.
Specifically, work metaphors appear in extra-scientific and intra-scientific discourse on workers and work structures in the
natural and social world. An analysis of the entomological discourse from the late nineteenth century to the present shows
changes in these metaphors that overlap with the discourse of change in human work and organizational structures. For instance,
the metaphor of a busy bee within an efficient hive had traditionally evoked a comparison to the modern industrial workplace.
The discourse on the hive currently more closely resembles a postindustrial conception of work. Discourse analysis can illustrate

This piece narrates the author's experience with González's Four Seasons of Ethnography framework as an ethnographer-in-training in an advanced field research methods course conducted in a small Rarámuri village in the Copper Canyon of Mexico. Three core elements emerged as the narrative's focal interest: the nature-based logic of the Four Seasons framework, the tensions between indigenous child-rearing practices and modernizing influences among the Rarámuri, and the problematic of conducting indigenously grounded research in a community not one's own. Learnings highlight the unique oeuvre lent by the “Four Seasons” framework and its potential for transforming knowledge production about the “other” within the academy and beyond. 相似文献
