In Korean text, foreign words, which are mostly transliterations of English words, are frequently used. Foreign words are usually very important index terms in Korean information retrieval since most of them are technical terms or names. So accurate foreign word extraction is crucial for high performance of information retrieval. However, accurate foreign word extraction is not easy because it inevitably accompanies word segmentation and most of the foreign words are unknown. In this paper, we present an effective foreign word recognition and extraction method. In order to accurately extract foreign words, we developed an effective method of word segmentation that involves unknown foreign words. Our word segmentation method effectively utilizes both unknown word information acquired through the automatic dictionary compilation and foreign word recognition information. Our HMM-based foreign word recognition method does not require large labeled examples for the model training unlike the previously proposed method. 相似文献

With the rapid evolution of the mobile environment, the demand for natural language applications on mobile devices is increasing. This paper proposes an automatic word spacing system, the first step module of natural language processing (NLP) for many languages with their own word spacing rules, that is designed for mobile devices with limited hardware resources. The proposed system uses two stages. In the first stage, it preliminarily corrects word spacing errors by using a modified hidden Markov model based on character unigrams. In the second stage, the proposed system re-corrects the miscorrected word spaces by using lexical rules based on character bigrams or longer combinations. By using this hybrid method, the proposed system improves the robustness against unknown word patterns, reduces memory usage, and increases accuracy. To evaluate the proposed system in a realistic mobile environment, we constructed a mobile-style colloquial corpus using a simple simulation method. In experiments with a commercial mobile phone, the proposed system showed good performances (a response time of 0.20 s per sentence, a memory usage of 2.04 MB, and an accuracy of 92–95%) in the various evaluation measures. 相似文献

Experience defined in terms of time, scope, type, density and timing affect performance of highly skilled administrative staff. We apply a multidimensional model to the field of science commercialization as a typical multi-goal oriented process. We identify how different conceptualizations of experience models lead to diverse conclusions regarding their effects on facets of performance such as speed, efficiency and revenue. Acknowledging multifaceted goals of science commercialization, we further contribute to the body of work on individual level factors regarding universities' commercialization performance. In this paper we provide evidence from the context of universities' commercialization efforts, relying on administrative records of a Japanese university including 845 transfer cases over a 13-year period (2004–2016). By focusing on coordinators working in a technology transfer office, and the various measurement modes of their experience, we detect several important characteristics. While several experience components affect speed and efficiency of technology transfer, our results show that revenue is determined by interaction components. 相似文献
