The quality and benefit of college English teaching is .to some extent,decided by what methodologicalo approach it employs.The current teaching syllabus adopts the communicative approach,which is well established as the dominant theoretical model in college English teaching.This paper tries to discuss these characteristics and explain why the model.procedure and links of college English teaching in the classroom are so vital to improve the language and communicative abilities of students.The teaching methods cannot and should not be fixed,It is restricted by the English levels and learning strategies of students,and by the academic quality and teaching ideas of teachers.A good teacher is such and flexibly to help his students attain the goal that syllabus demands.  相似文献

This paper mainly concerns some approaches in the teaching of communicative English course in college.As students aresumetimes not keen on the courses,the teaching of it will inevitably encounter some reluctant participation by the students.However,there are a variety of reasons behind this phenomenon.The teachers'inappropriate attitudes towards students and the improper approachespplied in class are often the main causes to the uncooperative behavior from the students.The students'psyche underneath their reluc-tance and failure to cooperate with the teachers'otherwise creative approaches is also explored in the paper.  相似文献

Nowadays, people have been more critical about the traditional ways of teaching and advocate the student-centered teaching approach. This paper focuses on the student- centered approach in English classroom teaching in vocational colleges. It points out that the students’ English levels, the current mainstream of teaching in English class as well as the teaching materials in Chinese vocational college are all important factors that influence the outcome of the student-centered teaching approach. Meanwhile, the paper proves that college students can gain more in the student-centered English class. In the end, some suggestions are provided.  相似文献

Some people are suspicious of oral English learning for they have been accustomed to the old traditional classroom training. This paper discusses some new teaching techniques in oral class, which breaks the traditional teaching methods. If teachers are aware of the advantages of these new methods and put them into practice, then we can create a lively and natural atmosphere so that the students will lose their inhibition and learn English happily. The main point of this paper is that the best teaching method can produce the best effect and it should be a combination of some flexible and various approaches rather than only one single teaching method as well as the cooperation of teacher and students.  相似文献

The aim of English teaching is not only to make the students learn new words and grammar, answer multiple-choice questions to get good scores, but also to enhance the students’abilities of the integrated application of English, speaking and listening in particular. The ultimate goal of learning English is to use English to communicate with others in the future jobs and real life. However, the non-English majors have great trouble speaking English in class and in real life. Such ways as Socratic dialogues, cause analysis and questionnaire are used to investigate the reasons. In order to improve speaking ability, group discussion is used in class. In consequence, the students have more interest, motivation, courage and confidence in speaking English. Meanwhile, they have also established the concept of using what they learned in class, in practical work and real life.  相似文献

Recent years,many high schools enlarged their dimensions of enrollment along with the colleges’enlarged enrollment.As a result,the vocational schools’enrollees are mostly the graduated junior high school students who are not qualified to enroll in the senior high schools.The researcher found many students didn’t have interests in English reading.They often chat,read novels,or even sleep.That badly interrupted the accomplishment of regular teaching process.Most of the colleagues of the researcher contributed that to the lowered quality of students.But there might be many further reasons decreased the students’reading interests,such as,the teachers’teaching methods,the applicability of the textbooks,the teaching environment,and etc.Many researches had been conducted on the issue of the English reading.But there are a few practical researches on how to enhance students’interests in English reading.The researcher hypothesized that the communicative teaching activities(shortened as CTA hereinafter)can enhance students’reading interests.A three-week project was conducted among 35students.CTA was arranged in each of the three stages of English reading teaching,namely the pre-reading stage,the while-reading stage and the post reading stage.The researcher analyzed the weekly diary that described the performance changes of students,and also the exercise marks they got in the classes in three weeks.The results turned out students’interests in English reading had been highly improved after the application of CTA.The significance of this project is that the application of communicative teaching activities can enhance students’reading interests.And those teachers who are meeting the same problem in their teachings can benefit from this project.  相似文献

With the reform of college English course,the objectives,philosophy and models of Chinese EFL teaching have been deeply changed.So college students are required to have higher language proficiency;it is also a challenge for the English teachers in our country.The traditional teaching mode should be changed.College English teaching is not only to input knowledge to students,but also to foster their skills on the application of knowledge,and excavate their potential in order to promote their language proficiency.Writing,as one of the efficient ways to measure students’comprehensive English ability,has attracted more attention in the field of English researches,which,however,got little improvement so far.What we can see from the requirements is that college students and teachers should put more attention on their output instead of input alone.Therefore,this paper intends to apply Swain’s "Output Hypothesis" to the college English teaching of non-English major students in China,and make some teaching suggestions based on the three functions of the "Output Hypothesis".  相似文献

In the English writing class, teachers have to confront numerous and diverse errors in students’writings. They must decide which types of errors require the most attention. In this research, through the investigation of a group of English teachers’ evaluation of different types of errors selected from students’writings, it was found that these teachers paid more attention to local errors than global errors, which is different from native speakers’ evaluation of error gravity. Causes for this phenomenon as well as pedagogical implications are also discussed in this paper.  相似文献

In the process of classroom education, setting questions in class is an important teaching method, which is used in the whole teaching activity and acts as the link between the thoughts of teachers and students. Hence, creating a wisdom class and using according questions to aid the class are of great significance to both students and teachers. In this paper, 40 elementary students from the 9th grade and 10 of their teachers were studied and the result showed that learning requirements facing to the whole class and students' learning beliefs are essential principles, and questions should be set by having an exhaustive understanding of the textbook, giving previous homework, creating a thinking atmosphere, and setting a proper difficulty for the students. The proper time to set questions is when the old knowledge and new knowledge of the student conflict in the awareness of the student, when the teacher wants to spread thought, and when the teacher wants to make a conclusion.  相似文献

This paper has made an investigation on the current writing teaching mode among English majors in normal universities in China, by means of questionnaire, interview and class observation. The study finds out that the current writing teaching mode is not purely product approach or process approach. In fact, the two approaches to writing co-exist in today's English writing teaching, with product approach to writing enjoying a relatively dominant place. Problems are discovered of this writing teaching mode, such as students' inactive involvement in the class. Then, this paper focuses on the teachers and students to find out the reasons. This paper covers an experimental study on vocational students’ participation in the class under task-based approach and traditional grammar-translation teaching method.As vocational colleges in China have developed rapidly,teachers are still exploring and experimenting with different teaching approaches in order to find the suitable one(s).Using the theory of task-based approach,the grammartranslation method,the author conducts an experiment by recording.The following key issue has been addressed and some conclusive results have been made.The paper intends to find an answer to the following question:Under which teaching approach can students participate in the class more actively? Based on the above research work,the following result has been reached:Task-based approach can promote students’ mastering of vocabulary and grammar,and students participate in the class more actively.The author would like to share her experiences with others in pedagogical studies of teaching vocational college students English.  相似文献
