Perspectives on educational technology research and development   总被引:1,自引:4,他引:1
This is the introductory article for the first issue ofEducational Technology Research and Development (ETR&D). The authors review the issues and process that led to the decision by the AECT Executive Board to co-publishEducational Communication and Technology Journal (ECTJ) and theJournal of Instructional Development (JID) in a new journal. The results of analyses of ECTJ and JID by Schwen and Middendorf (1987) and Dick and Dick (1989) are briefly summarized. The authors then report their own survey of AECT members to determine the topics and types of articles the members would prefer to read in ETR&D. Member preferences are compared with the actual content of the last ten issues of ECTJ and JID. Finally, the authors briefly discuss their own perspectives on ETR&D.  相似文献

Edelstein, Wolfgang (1971). The Social Context of Educational Planning. Scand. J. educ. Res. 15, 169‐191. Educational planning in Iceland as anywhere has to provide answers to problems of administration, development, and innovation. Practical reasoning, information seeking, and the ‘dialogue form’ of the planning process are stressed in view of the particular obstacles to educational planning in Iceland: smallness of system, tradition of government through face‐to‐face interaction, and extreme rates of change in the interrelated processes of urbanization, regional mobility, occupational shift, and socio‐cultural transformation. The change from the family‐based rural mode of growing up to modern formal education has occurred with the suddenness of a generation shift, leaving urbanized parents of city‐born children with the unapplicable child‐rearing models of their rural grandparents. The social‐psychological states connected with these modes of growing up are discussed in terms of interactionist socialization theory. Objectives for educational planning are inferred.  相似文献

This study of 723 college students seeks to assess the adequacy of the Community of Inquiry (CoI) framework for describing and explaining differences in learning outcomes in hybrid and fully online learning environments. Hypothesizing that the CoI model's theoretical constructs of presence reflect educational effectiveness in a variety of environments, this article seeks evidence of whether students in varying learning environments are likely to rank them differently with regard to teaching, social, and cognitive presence. The study utilizes factor-, hierarchical-regression-, and path analyses to determine the validity of the CoI constructs as well as to characterize the nature of relationships between them. Results suggest that the model is coherent and accounts for the small but significant differences recently reported in the literature regarding the superiority of hybrid environments relative to fully online environments (Means, B., Toyama, Y., Murphy, R., Bakia, M., & Jones, K. (2009). Evaluation of evidence-based practices in online learning: A meta-analysis and review of online learning studies. Washington, DC: US Department of Education, Office of Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Development). Recommendations for future research and practice are included.  相似文献

Scientific communication in the field of educational technology was examined by analyzing references from and citations to articles published in Educational Technology Research and Development (ETR&D) for the period 1990–2004 with particular emphasis on other journals found in the citation record. Data were collected on the 369 core articles found in the 60 issues published during that time period, their reference lists (containing over 14,805 individual items), and citations of those articles in other journals (1,896 entries). The top cited and citing journals during that time period are listed. Nine symbiotic journals (i.e. those that are most cited by ETR&D and frequently cite it) were identified: Contemporary Educational Psychology, Educational Psychologist, Instructional Science, Journal of Computer-Based Instruction (no longer published), Journal of Educational Computing Research, Journal of Educational Psychology, Journal of Educational Research, Journal of Research in Science Teaching, and the Review of Educational Research. The results provide an in-depth, quantitative view of informal connections within the field via the citation record. Implications for further research and the potential influence of new technologies on scientific communication are also discussed.  相似文献

This article is intended to discuss and clarify certain issues raised by Dr Carr-Hill in his article: ‘Education Planning for Scientific Socialism in Mozambique: a View from the Left’ (published in the International Journal of Educational Development, Vol. 2, No. 3, 1982). It is argued that Dr Carr-Hill has misinterpreted some aspects of educational policy and planning to Mozambique, and has confused some practical education difficulties with the overall aims of Frelimo policy.  相似文献
