The problem of positioning of actuators and sensors on smart materials has been a point of interest in recent years. This is due to the fact that in many practical applications there are limitations in space, weight, etc. of the smart structures, which make the problem of positioning more complex. In addition, it is required that the actuators/sensors have the best possible performance. The development of smart structures technology in recent years has provided numerous opportunities for vibration control applications. The use of piezoelectric ceramics or polymers has shown great promise in the development of this technology. The employment of piezoelectric material as actuators in vibration control is beneficial because these actuators only excite the elastic modes of the structures without exciting the rigid-body modes. This is important since very often only elastic motions of the structures are needed to be controlled. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a novel approach developed for optimizing the location of piezoelectric actuators for vibration suppression of flexible structures. A flexible fin with bonded piezoelectric actuators is considered in this study. The frequency response function (FRF) of the system is then recorded and maximization of the FRF peaks is considered as the objective function of the optimization algorithm to find the optimal placement of the piezoelectric actuators on the smart fin. Three multi-layer perceptron neural networks are employed to perform surface fitting to the discrete data generated by the finite element method (FEM). Invasive weed optimization (IWO), a novel numerical stochastic optimization algorithm, is then employed to maximize the weighted summation of FRF peaks. Results indicate an accurate surface fitting for the FRF peak data and an optimal placement of the piezoelectric actuators for vibration suppression is achieved.  相似文献

Rice drying synthesis is an essential operation that has to be done carefully and cost-effectively. Rice is harvested at high moisture content and hence must be dried within 24 h for safe storage. However, improper drying can cause fissuring in the rice grain, and thus greatly reduce its market value. Multi-pass drying systems are therefore used to gradually bring moisture content to desired level.The problem of rice synthesis, considered in this study, seeks the configuration of units and their corresponding operating conditions that maximize rice quality. This problem is formulated as a mixed-integer dynamic optimization problem. The integer part of the problem reflects process alternatives while the dynamic part originates from nonlinear differential-algebraic equations describing the drying behavior of a rice grain.Clearly such a formidable problem is not easy to solve. Hence, we propose an approach that makes use of two algorithms: a genetic algorithm to search for the best configuration of units and a control vector parameterization approach that optimizes the operating conditions for each configuration. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach on a case study.  相似文献

The attempt is made to produce recombinant factor VIII but the first step in producing such product is production and purification of rabbit’s polyclonal antibody against factor VIII. The second and third steps involve monoclonal antibody and recombinant factor VIII production. Factor VIII is one of the most important coagulating factor where its deficiency leads to diseases like hemophilia type A or classic. It is an inherited disease. Previously, it was obtained through fractionation of blood plasma of blood donors. After processing, factor VIII could be used to manage such patients. Due to transfer of viral disease like hepatitis and HIV through factor VIII obtained by fractionation, high cost of production, insufficiency of the donors and the process of virus removal, thus production of factor VIII through recombinant technology can be useful and helpful. The reaction between antibody and antigen is one the most specific reaction; therefore, such reaction can be employed to identify factor VIII. Thereby, rabbits were injected several times with adjuvant-linked antigen to produce antibody. The antibody was separated from the blood sample, purified and used to identify factor VIII in the research.  相似文献

Influence and capital are two concepts used to evaluate scholarly outputs, and these can be measured using the Scholarly Capital Model as a modelling tool. The tool looks at the concepts of connectedness, venue representation, and ideational influence using centrality measures within a social network. This research used co‐authorships and h‐indices to investigate authors who have published papers in the field of information behaviour between 1980 and 2015 as extracted from Web of Science. The findings show a relationship between the authors’ connectedness and the venue (journal) representation. It could be seen that the venue (journal) influences the chance of citation, and equally, the prestige (centrality) of authors probably raises the citations of the journals. The research also shows a significant positive relationship between the venue representation and ideational influence. This means that a research work that is published in a highly cited journal will find more visibility and will receive more citations.  相似文献

Background and purpose: The perception of aging is one of the independent predictors of functional disability and mortality in the aged ones, this study was conducted to compare the follow-up of a training program with the use of two in-person and telenursing methods on the perception of aging of the elderly, covered by the comprehensive health centers in Ahvaz city.

Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental study involved systematic random sampling conducted on 60 elderly persons (aged 60–75 years) who were referred to in Ahvaz. A training program was conducted for all elderly persons for 3 weeks (three sessions per week), which was accompanied with 2 months of six follow-ups for the telephonic follow-up group (Tele-nursing), and two follow-ups for in-person follow-up group. The data were collected with the use of demographic form, Abbreviated Mental Test (AMT), and The Brief Aging Perceptions Questionnaire (B-APQ). Elderly completed the questionnaire at the beginning of the study and 8 weeks later. The data were subsequently analyzed with SPSS software; and P values less than 0.05 were considered significant.

Results: Based on the results, the mean score of perception of aging increased in the study groups after the intervention. This increase was statistically significant only in the intervention group.

Discussion and Conclusion: The telephonic follow-up was more effective on Increasing the perception of aging compared with the in-person follow-up. Therefore, using this method is recommended for the elderly.  相似文献

This research investigated Grades 5 and 6 science workbooks for the degree to which they promote scientific inquiry abilities, opportunities that students had to acquire these abilities and the obstacles hindering students from implementing them. A document review technique and a constant comparative method were applied sequentially. A total of 58 instigative logs were scrutinized. Findings revealed that while the activities allowed students to use appropriate techniques and tools to collect and interpret data, and use their inquiry abilities related to implement investigation plans, they did not allow students real opportunities to formulate questions, plan for simple investigations, write conclusions, or communicate investigations. A total of 15 Grade 5 and 6 science teachers were asked to report their perceptions of the students’ role in implementing identified abilities. A one‐way analysis of variance revealed that there was a significant difference between students who individually implemented the inquiry abilities and students who were supported by the teacher or by other students. Obstacles that hindered students from implementing identified inquiry abilities included teachers’ intensive supports, students’ limited background or skills, and materials and instrument shortages. The study concluded with recommendations for policy, practice, and future research.  相似文献

While theories and recommendations continue to proliferate in the educational research literature on what it means to teach towards social justice and to prepare teachers for such teaching, so do concerns that these theories and recommendations fail to account for the ways that the contexts of teaching—cultural contexts, national contexts, political contexts—always affect teaching in idiosyncratic, unpredictable and even contradictory ways. Given that much educational research fails to trouble the US‐centric nature of prevailing conceptions of social justice and teacher education, it is important to learn about the unique as well as shared challenges facing teacher educators around the globe. In this article, teacher educators from Asia, Africa, North America and South America offer a sampling of initiatives in anti‐oppressive teacher education; that is, initiatives to prepare teachers to teach various subject matters to various age groups, addressing various forms of oppression in various cultural and community contexts.  相似文献
