It was assumed that the effect of motivational regulation strategies on achievement is mediated by effort management and moderated by intelligence. A sample of 231 11th and 12th grade German high-school students provided self-reports on their use of motivational regulation strategies and effort management and completed an intelligence test. Students' half-year grades (GPA) were assessed six months later. As expected, motivational regulation strategies were not directly related to GPA but showed positive effects on students' effort management which in turn predicted students' GPA. Intelligence and effort management were equally strong direct predictors of GPA. Also as expected, more intelligent students benefitted more from using some, but not all, motivational regulation strategies in terms of increased effort management. Implications of these findings regarding the effectiveness of motivational regulation strategies are discussed. 相似文献

The integration of Cyber-Physical Systems in the industrial domain has become indispensable for Industry 4.0. Unfortunately, as the interconnectivity among them increases, so do the opportunities for malicious users to target them. Hence, it is necessary to increase the security of these systems and their components. A wide range of security solutions (e.g., industrial Firewalls) are already an integral part of Industrial Automation Systems, however, these are deployed at strategical system locations and might not be capable of identifying intrusions that target specific elements of embedded industrial devices. Host Intrusion Detection Systems (Host IDS) are one security solution that allow to detect such type of intrusions, as they analyze information related to specific host devices. This contribution presents a feasible Host IDS architecture for embedded industrial devices. This architecture takes into consideration features and capabilities of Host IDS from the IT domain. It also considers system-, environmental- and device-specific properties from the industrial domain. These properties are presented in the form of abstracted requirements and considerations that are contemplated for the conceptualization of the presented architecture. Furthermore, the feasibility of this architecture is validated through the implementation and evaluation of a prototypical Host IDS deployed in a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hosting a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS). This evaluation is achieved through the demonstration of a set of hypotheses derived from the abstracted requirements and supported by the evaluation of test scenarios. Determination of HbA1c values with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) occasionally reveals hemoglobin anomalies with no or minimal clinical evidence. We coincidentally detected two cases of Hb Hasharon, an alpha globin gene mutation, in two heterozygous patients and one case of Hb NYU, a delta globin gene mutation, in another patient. Both anomalies have not been described in subjects of German origin to date. Characterization was carried out with HPLC, hemoglobin electrophoresis, capillary zone electrophoresis, DNA sequencing, complete blood count and clinical chemical analysis. 相似文献

In the first part of this article the question of the language of instruction is seen in relation to questions of poverty, power and partnership. In the second part the fate of the African languages in some selected countries is given a closer look. Two distinct trends are noted, one strengthening the dominant languages which, in the context of Africa, means the former colonial languages and one focusing on a growing concern for a preservation and revival of African languages as languages of instruction in at least the primary schools in Africa. The ideas of symmetric peace and symmetric peace education, developed by Anatol Pikas in the preceding article, are here criticised for their lack of definition; it is also alleged that inadequate explanation is given of how the concepts may be applied — for example, in the case of a strong power oppressing a weak one. In particular, this critique concentrates on Pikas' assumption of who the antagonists are, and on his belief in the value of prepared teaching materials. Brock-Utne argues that the common enemy is the arms race itself and that the inculcation of critical and discriminating attitudes is likely to be more effective than producing teaching packages. Constructive alternative ideas, incorporating some of Pikas' thinking, are offered. These emphasize (1) the importance of joint cultural/education exchange programmes for promoting international understanding at grass-roots level; (2) the need to put one's own house in order before criticising the neighbour's — a reference to Sweden's policies, with which Pikas claims to identify, and to the implications of Norway's membership of NATO for those in that country concerned with building peace; and (3) the desirability of setting up fora where, under the right conditions, a type of symmetric peace education can be pursued. 相似文献
