Conceived for presentation at the XIV WCCES conference in Istanbul in 2010, the topic of which was “Bordering Comparative
Education”, this paper, within that framework, aims to present the current state of the discipline in Latin America in relation
to a quick overview of its present-day situation at a global level. After providing an overview of the current debates on
comparative education, with special emphasis on what the authors refer to as motor nuclei (a series of milestones or episodes which have become transdiscursive as the discipline has evolved), as well as pinpointing
current challenges in the field, this paper looks into the development of the discipline in Latin America and how it has contributed
to the understanding of the region’s educational systems. The paper also examines the unique relationship between comparative
studies and the field of educational planning in Latin America. The authors then go on to provide a thematic analysis, categorising
the papers presented at three conferences held by the Sociedad Argentina de Estudios Comparados en Educación (SAECE, the Argentine Society for Comparative Education Studies) in 2005, 2007 and 2009. The paper closes with several conclusions
regarding the current debate on the discipline in the region and its possibilities for the future. 相似文献

This study identifies qualities associated with the successful adaptation of families with a husband diagnosed with prostate cancer. Both qualitative and quantitative measures were used in this cross-sectional survey research design. Twenty-one husbands and their spouses independently completed six questionnaires and a biographical questionnaire, and they answered an open-ended question. The qualitative findings revealed the importance of intrafamilial support, spiritual/religious beliefs, and professional support and knowledge, while the quantitative results indicated that family adaptation was fostered by the family's internal strengths and durability, affirmative communication, and the experience of social support. The findings could be used to develop interventions that promote family resilience and affirm the reparative potential of families. 相似文献

As electronic sports (e-sports)—the configuration of competitive videogaming as spectator sport—surges in popularity, industry organizations such as Major League Gaming (MLG) continue to experiment with techniques for capturing, and capitalizing on, the work of watching play. This article critically considers these techniques of “audiencing” by comparing observations of two MLG tournaments, in 2008 and 2012, situating them within broader cultural, technological, and economic transformations in the competitive gaming landscape. Even as games continue to be lauded as “participatory” media, this account shows a shift within some e-sports contexts towards rebuilding, rather than blurring, the boundaries between content producers and audiences. 相似文献
