Does maximalist footwear lower impact loading during level ground and downhill running?

A new model of running shoes which features an extreme cushioning and an oversized midsole, known as the maximalist (MAX) was launched. This design claims to provide excellent shock absorption, particularly during downhill running. This study sought to assess the effects of MAX on the external impact loading, footstrike pattern, and stride length during level ground and downhill running on an instrumented treadmill. Twenty-seven distance runners completed four 5-minute running trials in the two footwear conditions (MAX and traditional running shoes (TRS)) on a level surface (0%) and downhill (10%-declination). Average and instantaneous loading rates (ILRs), footstrike pattern and stride length were measured during the last minute of each running trial. A 12% greater ILR was observed in downhill running with MAX (p?=?.045; Cohen’s d?=?0.44) as compared to TRS. No significant difference was found in the loading rates (p?>?.589) and stride length (p?=?.924) when running on a level surface. Majority of runners maintained the same footstrike pattern in both footwear conditions. Findings of this study suggested that MAX might not reduce the external impact loading in runners during level and downhill treadmill running. Instead, this type of footwear may conceivably increase the external impact loading during downhill treadmill running.  相似文献

[目的/意义]剖析国际科研数据政策的导向及其特征,为我国完善科研数据政策保障体系、优化科研数据管理与共享工作提供重要依据。[方法/过程]采用案例分析、文献调研方法归纳出国际科研数据政策的"整合DLC-SH"和"机器可操作"两种导向,并使用模本法分析、验证两种导向的异同。[结果/结论]"整合DLC-SH"导向秉持科研数据管理与共享整体观,遵循"组织管理-业务流程"基本框架,目的在于构建全球协同式数据治理方略;"机器可操作"导向提供依次递进的指导性原则,重视数据基础设施的辅助作用,目的在于实现"数据互联网"全球布局。两种导向在理论基础、核心组件和服务对象上存在不同,但在基础环境、实现途径和最终目标上基本一致,且两种导向的相互融合成为现阶段的主流趋势。建议我国强化政策的导向功用,融入国际工作体系;重塑工作机制与流程,完善数据治理格局;"人文与技术"相结合,构建"人机协同"生态。  相似文献

Volunteer motivation,social problem solving,self-efficacy,and mental health: a structural equation model approach

The study aimed to investigate the direct effect of volunteer motivation on social problem-solving ability, self-efficacy, and mental health and examine the mediating effects on volunteer motivation and mental health by testing social problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. We examined a hypothetical model that integrates the concepts of Self-Determination Theory, the Social Problem Solving Model, and the Self-Efficacy Belief Model. Results demonstrated that volunteer motivation was significantly associated with social problem-solving ability and self-efficacy amongst 1530 undergraduate students. Three subscales of social problem-solving ability (positive problem orientation, negative problem orientation, and avoidance style) and self-efficacy served are significant mediators. Model statistics for SEM demonstrated an adequate fit with the data. Volunteer motivation provides a way to enhance social problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. It also leads to better mental health by enhancing positive problem orientation and self-efficacy and by reducing negative problem orientation and avoidance style.  相似文献
