Many concurrent variables appear to influence people when they interact anonymously, either face-to-face (F2F) or in computer-mediated communications (CMC).This paper presents the results of a small exploratory research, conducted in a medical company in Italy, to investigate how the use of pseudonyms influences CMC behaviours. The study involved 32 newly hired or about-to-be hired graduates. Outcomes from this study show that, in the given organizational context, the use of pseudonyms in CMC produced more exchanges, higher verbosity and greater group collaboration.  相似文献

Abstract

Ten moderately well-conditioned male students at the University of Toledo ran on a treadmill, fully attired in football equipment, with an environmental temperature of 90 F and relative humidity of 70%. Each subject was partially acclimatized and then exposed to the experimental conditions on five consecutive days (balanced Latin square). Four 1-liter water replacement schedules (designed to test specific hypotheses), and a control of no water, served as five levels of the independent variable. Data were collected on rectal temperature, heart rate, pulse pressure, specific gravity changes for whole blood and for plasma, and sweat loss. Results showed that water ingestion early during the work session combated the effects of heat stress better than late administration; however, this advantage was reduced toward the end of the work session. The results were mixed concerning the relative merits of ingesting the water in one or two administrations.  相似文献

Abstract

Dyad reading involves a lower level reader paired with a higher level reading partner who models proficient oral reading while providing access to challenging texts. Previous research has reported increased reading fluency and comprehension for participants of dyad reading; however, to date no research has investigated how dyad reading may influence student attitudes toward reading. Using mixed effects linear modeling, this quasi-experimental study of third graders investigated the academic and attitudinal outcomes for students who read in dyads for 15?minutes daily for 90 school days. Results indicated that dyad readers experienced mixed outcomes in improving reading proficiency and a pattern of decline in reading attitudes compared to students in the control group. While lower level dyad readers demonstrated significant gains on a measure of comprehension, there were no differences between groups on several other measures of reading. Recommendations target how to maximize the use of dyad reading to support students’ reading development without eroding their perceptions of themselves as readers.  相似文献

Fatigue in soccer: a brief review   总被引:6,自引:0,他引:6
This review describes when fatigue may develop during soccer games and the potential physiological mechanisms that cause fatigue in soccer. According to time-motion analyses and performance measures during match-play, fatigue or reduced performance seems to occur at three different stages in the game: (1) after short-term intense periods in both halves; (2) in the initial phase of the second half; and (3) towards the end of the game. Temporary fatigue after periods of intense exercise in the game does not appear to be linked directly to muscle glycogen concentration, lactate accumulation, acidity or the breakdown of creatine phosphate. Instead, it may be related to disturbances in muscle ion homeostasis and an impaired excitation of the sarcolemma. Soccer players' ability to perform maximally is inhibited in the initial phase of the second half, which may be due to lower muscle temperatures compared with the end of the first half. Thus, when players perform low-intensity activities in the interval between the two halves, both muscle temperature and performance are preserved. Several studies have shown that fatigue sets in towards the end of a game, which may be caused by low glycogen concentrations in a considerable number of individual muscle fibres. In a hot and humid environment, dehydration and a reduced cerebral function may also contribute to the deterioration in performance. In conclusion, fatigue or impaired performance in soccer occurs during various phases in a game, and different physiological mechanisms appear to operate in different periods of a game.  相似文献

This article recognizes the critical role community college instructors serve in preparing today's students for successful postsecondary education. Well-designed course assignments are a critical component of effective teaching and learning processes. The author summarizes some common assignment pitfalls (based on student input) and makes recommendations for avoiding them in community college classrooms. Then the author presents the Course Assignment Framework, which was designed to facilitate the planning of productive course assignments. The Course Assignment Framework delineates ten assignment categories, their rationales, and advantages for professors and students. The framework also promotes their combining of tasks so that instructors can customize and minimize the assignments that they expect of contemporary students. The article includes an example of an assignment planned using the framework and encourages instructors to refine course tasks to improve teaching, learning, and assessment.  相似文献
