Statistical inference involves drawing scientifically‐based conclusions describing natural processes or observable phenomena from datasets with intrinsic random variation. We designed, implemented, and validated a new portable randomization‐based statistical inference infrastructure ( http://socr.umich.edu/HTML5/Resampling_Webapp ) that blends research‐driven data analytics and interactive learning, and provides a backend computational library for managing large amounts of simulated or user‐provided data. The core of this framework is a modern randomization webapp, which may be invoked on any device supporting a JavaScript‐enabled web browser. We demonstrate the use of these resources to analyse proportion, mean and other statistics using simulated (virtual experiments) and observed (e.g. Acute Myocardial Infarction, Job Rankings) data. Finally, we draw parallels between parametric inference methods and their distribution‐free alternatives. The Randomization and Resampling webapp can be used for data analytics, as well as for formal, in‐class and informal, out‐of‐the‐classroom learning and teaching of different scientific concepts. Such concepts include sampling, random variation, computational statistical inference and data‐driven analytics. The entire scientific community may utilize, test, expand, modify or embed these resources (data, source‐code, learning activity, webapp) without any restrictions. 相似文献

The objective of this study is to clarify the functional roles of upper limb muscles during standing and seated cycling when power output increases. We investigated the activity of seven upper limb and trunk muscles using surface electromyography (EMG). Power outputs ranged from ~100–700 W with a pedalling frequency of 90 revolution per minute. Three-dimensional handle and pedal forces were simultaneously recorded. Using non-negative matrix factorisation, we extracted muscle synergies and we analysed the integrated EMG and EMG temporal patterns. Most of the muscles showed tonic activity that became more phasic as power output increased. Three muscle synergies were identified, associated with (i) torso stabilisation, (ii) compensation/generation of trunk accelerations and (iii) upper body weight support. Synergies were similar for seated and standing positions (Pearson’s r > 0.7), but synergy #2 (biceps brachii, deltoidus and brachioradialis) was shifted forward during the cycle (~7% of cycle). The activity levels of synergy #1 (latissimus dorsi and erector spinae) and synergy #2 increased markedly above ~500 W (i.e., ~+40–70% and +130–190%) and during periods corresponding to ipsi- and contralateral downstrokes, respectively. The students’ perception of a subject is approached as being a pure construction aiming at giving a meaning to their real everyday school life and, therefore, is not done regardless of the social conditions in which they were worked out, nor the social meanings conferred on this subject and his contents. A survey done on French students from a comprehensive school about their own representation of «Education Manuelle et Technique» shows that, according to their social background, the students have a different perception of its practice and of the value of the knowledges called for. A further interpretation puts forward the instrumental role that might be played by the representation of a subject in psychosocial processes of identity and then, in return, the weight of these problems of identity when working out this representation. 相似文献

Export education in New Zealand has grown rapidly since 1990, earning significant foreign exchange and underwriting the finance of domestic education. As principal owner of education institutions, the national state is the primary investor. Previous governments treated the ‘industry’ as both windfall and cash‐cow as they advanced the neo‐liberal project of disentangling state from economy and making education providers self‐regulating. The current ‘Third Way’ inspired government has adopted a more prominent management interest in the making of this globalising industry. A new Code of Practice enacts multiple technologies of control from quality control to standard setting, benchmarking, certification and audit. Legitimated by a discourse of concern for the pastoral care of school‐aged students, it requires institutions to provide detailed information. The Code makes ‘the industry’ visible, makes a market, controls brand NZ education, regulates through consumer assurance, and imposes direct disciplinary controls on institutions. The Code of Practice makes apparent the ambitions and governmental technologies of the ‘augmented’ neo‐liberal state, and is a pivotal structure in the constitution of the industry and of the globalising processes that define it. The paper uses governmentality analysis to uncover these technologies of control and to consider their part in the constitution of both industry and globalisation. 相似文献

The Anishinaabe Seven Fires Creation Story can be read as a theory on which all human beings share a fundamental love of reflecting reality in what they think and do. In this article, Marc Kruse, Nicolas Tanchuk, and Robert Hamilton argue that this ethical theory is correct but that the colonial ideology taught in our schools can obscure our knowledge of this fact. Specifically, the authors claim that decolonizing education requires teaching students and teachers alike to see the presence of value whenever they encounter other beings animated by a responsiveness to reality. All living things strive to perceive and respond to reality — to live and continue to learn — even if epistemic faculties differ. All living things, then, the authors conclude, are rightly seen as our relatives and kin, as bearers of value to whom we owe moral respect, as Anishinaabe elders have long taught. 相似文献
