With the renewed interest in the role of cognition in counselor training, numerous studies examining this phenomenon have emerged. This article reviews existing literature relevant to cognitive issues in training. The effects of various cognitive attributes such as conceptual level and cognitive style are discussed. Similarly, the impact of various cognitive training strategies on trainee performance are examined, such as modification of trainee cognitions to enhance skill generalization and cognitive restructuring techniques to alter maladaptive cognitions of trainees. In addition, methodological issues that have served to limit research activity are addressed. Brief recommendations are offered for future research and training efforts.  相似文献

3-year-olds were shown triads of rectangles and asked to select the "big" one, where the biggest rectangle in each triad was neither the tallest nor the widest. Dimensional salience and response choice were highly related. In addition, as saliency of a particular dimension increased relative to the other dimension, significantly more responses were based on that dimension. The results support the notion that the young child does not rely on 1 specific dimension to make judgments of bigness but, rather, attends to the most salient differences among stimuli.  相似文献

Conclusion The role of message TV in education will change with advancing technology and improving instructional design. As a stand alone activity, message TV may be too subjective an experience with too short a duration to expect enduring attitude and value changes. More research into the use of the medium as a stand alone activity is required. However, since message TV is a more effective medium for impressing with images than transmitting abstract data, it can play the affective instructional role as the strategic component within a program that uses a variety of activities to facilitate attitude and value cultivation. Message TV is a very powerful tool for persuasion that illustrates, dramatizes, and makes concrete the program’s objectives. Both of these productions operate on budgetary demands typical of educational institutions: resourcefulness, innovation, and dollar s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g. Our computer graphics are created on an Omega 500 with extra memory and a genlock device. For special effects we use a Chinon CV-T70 VHS Camcorder camera with special digital effects. This equipment belongs to our talented videographics creator, Rex Suba, who teaches high school media production. He gave a showcase presentation at AECT’s 1988 convention entitled “Desk Top Video: Low Cost Choice For Instruction” and demonstrates the innovative educational applications of his affordable equipment.  相似文献

MEDLINE (MEDLARS-ON-LINE) is the new on-line, interactive bibliographic searching system which was recently developed by the National Library of Medicine. The system provides users with lists of bibliographical citations and other information from a three-year file of over 1,250 biomedical journals. A survey testing user reactions was conducted at the University of Virginia Medical Library. The results of the survey are based on replies by 246 users who requested one or more MEDLINE searches between September 1972 and March 1973. The findings indicate that over 93% believe that MEDLINE is a substantial improvement over the traditional methods of searching through the printed indexes. These respondents also stated that the results of MEDLINE searches had assisted them in their clinical or research work, or both. Asked whether they would continue to use MEDLINE after the imposition of user charges on July 1, 1973, about 75% said that they would. The remaining 25% expressed some reservations and doubts. The survey gives reason to believe that with the imposition of user charges the use of MEDLINE will decline.  相似文献

Early home experiences of a group of 32 2-week old infants, equally divided according to social class, birth order, and sex, were studied. Naturalistic observations were taken on 2 consecutive days for a total of 6 hours. Compared with later-borns, firstborns received significantly more caretaker interaction on all variables studied. Compared with lower-SES infants, those from higher-SES homes received significantly more direct verbal interaction although the 2 groups did not differ on total periods of other types of caretaking interaction. The findings are consistent with birth order and social class differences reported in home environments of older infants and children.  相似文献
