Teacher Effectiveness Research (TER) could be a foundation upon which a valid teacher evaluation system could be built. However, even a technically exceptional evaluation system may be doomed to fail if the political dynamics that influence its implementation are not examined. This study examines the extent to which a proposed teacher evaluation system based on TER is possible to gain acceptance from the main stakeholders of the Cypriot educational system. The extent to which stakeholders’ reactions to the proposed system are associated with their personal interests and concerns is also investigated. Both groups recognized that TER could be a foundation upon which a valid teacher evaluation system could be built but were critical of suggestions that might reduce their professional power. In order to reach consensus, policy makers should establish procedures to ensure a clear understanding among stakeholders of both the theoretical assumptions of the proposed system and the type of concerns that stakeholders might have against change.  相似文献

This paper addresses concerns regarding the preparedness of newly qualified teachers to deliver Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) in the United Kingdom in relation to the training received during Initial Teacher Education and through early Continuing Professional Development. The paper is situated not only within a context where OfSTED has questioned the adequacy of some non-specialist PSHE teachers but also one where, due to a range of social and health concerns centred on young people, schools and teachers are being expected to play an increasingly important role in the social and health education of their pupils. As such, PSHE is increasingly seen as important across all curriculum areas. This paper relates specifically to the confidence of trainee and newly qualified teachers of English in teaching PSHE in secondary schools in the United Kingdom. Drawing on questionnaire data collected from recent Professional Graduate Certificate in Education graduates, the paper suggests that trainee and newly qualified teachers have the skills and knowledge drawn from their main subject (English) to deliver PSHE; however, many lack confidence and awareness to acknowledge these skills. The paper suggests that this situation may be addressed through increased opportunity to deliver and receive feedback on PSHE teaching during initial teacher training.  相似文献

Recognizing the importance teachers’ own voices play in their own professional development, the case study reported in this paper aims to illuminate the role that formal instruction and immersion in research can play in shaping teachers’ views of teacher-research and of themselves as future enquiring practitioners. The study was conducted with a group of nine overseas teachers attending a B.Ed. (Honours) degree in TEFL run by a higher education institution in Britain. Data were collected via questionnaires, semi-structured interviews and field notes from direct observation. Using a grounded theory methodology, the multiple sources of data were integrated into a theoretical model of ways of describing teacher research. The results of the study confirm previous assumptions that the highly-structured nature of the academic format of doing and reporting research may fall short of providing teachers with skills and tools for reflection that are easily transferable to practice.  相似文献

目的:了解高校保安人员的工作压力、社会支持以及主观幸福感现状,并探讨三者之间的关系。方法:采用社会支持评定量表(SSS)、压力量表(PSS)和中国城市居民主观幸福感量表简本(SWBS-CC),对广州市大学城内的所有高校(共10所)中的保安群体进行调查。结果:1)高校保安工作压力较大,且幸福感状况低于一般城镇居民。2)压力与主观幸福感有显著的负相关(r=-0.536,P<0.01),社会支持各维度与主观幸福感有显著的正相关(r=0.218,0.029,0.436;P<0.01);压力与社会支持的各维度都有显著的负相关(r=-0.184,-0.174,-0.573;P<0.01)。3)压力和社会支持各维度对主观幸福感有直接的预测作用,压力通过社会支持各维度对主观幸福感有间接的预测作用。结论:良好的社会支持体系有利于高校保安人员缓解压力,提升其主观幸福感。  相似文献

文章通过调查中老年晨练人群的主观幸福感情况,旨在为中老年晨练活动及相关部门提供一定的参考依据;主要采用问卷调查法,问卷包括晨练的基本情况和主观幸福感两部分。研究结果:晨练者中以60-74岁的老年人居多;项目以武术类居多;59.0%的选择集体练习;89.2%的几乎天天锻炼、87.0%的晨练超过1小时;55.4.%的无人指导;71.08%的总体感受为非常满意。晨练者的幸福感水平几乎处于“幸福”级别,男性略高于女性;武术类晨练者幸福感略高;以彰显才能、集体晨练、天天锻炼等为主要晨练特征的其主观幸福感较高。建议:政府部门提供更有力的保障;成立健康服务队,提供持续的健康服务;场馆管理制度更加“以人为本”;社会媒体舆论充分关注;晨练者完善自身各方面。  相似文献

通过对收集到的数据分析,发现威宁县幼儿教育专任教师在性别比例、年龄结构、学历水平、职称比例和专业背景等显性结构方面存在严重的问题。解决这些问题的建议有:政府部门应加强对贫困地区幼儿教育的宏观调控,制定"教育优先区"政策、采取措施鼓励优秀男教师从事幼儿教育,建立完善的幼儿教师职后培训制度和园际之间教师交流制度,促进幼儿教师的职称晋升。  相似文献
