Pedagogical practices of NetNZ teachers for supporting online distance learners

A supportive online learning environment entails teachers using effective pedagogical practices to meet the needs of their students and developing a positive teacher–student relationship to foster learner motivation and engagement. This paper reports a study investigating how 32 secondary teachers in New Zealand taught their online distance classes and how they related to their students. These classes were administered by NetNZ, an online distance education community. An online survey conducted in 2016 found that NetNZ teachers used inquiry-based practices including flipped learning and knowledge-building pedagogies to support agency, autonomy, collaboration, and community development. They also used synchronous and asynchronous communication technologies to overcome barriers of relationship building in online settings. NetNZ was unique in delivering distance education in the New Zealand context in that it used a community approach to encourage a more active participation of its member schools and teachers in delivering distance courses to secondary students.  相似文献

观念差异与合作关系探析

本文从观念差异的界定入手,分析了观念差异对合作的影响。虽然观念差异不是影响或决定合作的决定性因素,但却是影响合作的持续性因素。相似性是合作的起点,但差异性带来的互补性则可能成为合作推进的持续动力。差异并不必然导致冲突,相近或类似的观念也可能带来冲突。差异并不是影响合作的唯一变量,但处理不好差异的问题或持有错误的差异观却有可能直接影响到合作的进程。差异间能够实现理解和互动也能促进合作的发展。虽然不是所有差异都可以实现合作,但差异间实现合作却是可行的、也是可能的。减少差异增进合作是一种类型,化解差异增进合作是另一个层次。人类必须实现差异间的和谐共存,协调差异、化解分歧、促进合作。中国外交正在努力实现由"求同存异"到"求同合异"的转变。  相似文献

Culture background knowledge in English teaching arose in eighties of the twentieth century. It has been closely linked with the reformation and open in China. With the increase of exchange between China and English speaking countries resulting from the reform and opening policy to the outside world, people have come to find that due to the lack of profound knowledge of the culture of the English speaking, "cultural shock"or "cultural conflict" often arises when Chinese people communicate with Westerners, which leads to the realization that the pure-linguistic centered English teaching form cannot meet the demands of the social development any longer. Culture teaching must be introduced into English teaching in order to learn English language well and communicate well.This essay explains the importance of the cultural background knowledge teaching through analyzing the relationship of the language and culture as well as communicating barrier caused by the cultural differences, and it also submits falsifiable suggestions about how to introduce background knowledge into English teaching.  相似文献
