Supporting the emotional labour associated with teaching: considering a pluralistic approach to group supervision

This paper puts forward a framework for supervising teaching staff whose roles involve supporting the emotional well-being of young people and young adults. Initially, the increasing focus upon the interface between education and health is outlined and the potential for this ‘emotional labour’ to cause distress to those in helping roles is considered. Further, as a means of supporting these professionals, the rationale for, and importance of, reflexive practice is outlined. As such, self-care is promoted and clinical supervision related to this work is recommended. To account for the wide variety of ways of working with young people, a pluralistic framework for group supervision is outlined. This psychologically informed framework emphasises the importance of the supervisory alliance and breaks down the process into supervisory goals, tasks and methods. Each element is briefly described and the framework is suggested as a means of supporting those working in these contexts. This proposition is considered alongside a number of associated potential challenges and is outlined purposefully as a provocation to consider the implications of working in such a way within school settings.  相似文献

Most female students in college will experience the breakup of a romantic relationship. Romantic separation can negatively affect their emotional state, social relationships, and understanding of personal identity. Adler's theory of individual psychology (IP), with its focus on social interest and personal worldview, is a useful theoretical framework for assisting this population. Learning of musculoskeletal ligament stress testing in a gross anatomy laboratory

Human anatomy in physical therapy programs is a basic science course serving as a foundation for subsequent clinical courses. Integration of anatomy with a clinical emphasis throughout a curriculum provides opportunities for reinforcement of previously learned material. Considering the human cadaver laboratory as a fixed cost to our program, we sought opportunities to add value to the resource via vertical integration into a clinical skills course taught later in the curriculum. We designed an opportunity for second-year physical therapy students to revisit the human anatomy laboratory to study select clinical musculoskeletal tests and the associated anatomy in a clinically relevant context. Students performed select orthopedic ligament test on human cadavers, then incised specific structures and repeated the tests. Students were able to feel and visualize the function of pertinent anatomy associated with the clinical tests. Ninety-five percent of respondents reported that the ligament stress testing experience enhanced their understanding of orthopedic clinical tests with 91% reporting an enhanced understanding of anatomy related to specific clinical tests. Likewise, the experience was perceived as enjoyable and valuable with 86% of respondents reporting the experience as enjoyable and 100% responding the experience should continue as part of the curriculum.  相似文献

业余足球运动员踝关节损伤的原因及治疗

通过查阅相关资料,并参与山西省太原市业余足球比赛若干场次,对在比赛中踝关节急性损伤的运动员进行各期治疗并进行对比,观察疗效。结果显示：业余足球运动员踝关节损伤后未处理的,痊愈率为17％;只进行前期处理的,痊愈率为50％;进行前期、中期、后期治疗的,痊愈率为100％。  相似文献   

腕关节损伤治疗的效果观察

目的：分析腕关节损伤原因、治疗现状,探讨腕关节损伤的治疗方法。方法：选取76例腕关节损伤患者,随机分为两组,一组为传统治疗组,用传统休息、中药外敷、理疗等方法治疗。另一组为静力训练组,进行静力训练,牵仲治疗,10天为一个疗程。2～3个疗程后进行疗效观察比较。结果：传统治疗组治愈率和总有效率分别是40．0％和90．6％,静力训练组治愈率和总有效率分别是58．6％和94．5％。两组疗效经统计学检验,有显著性差异（p〈0.01）。结论：静力训练治疗腕关节损伤明显优于传统治疗,可作为此种损伤的预防手段。  相似文献

针对大学新生心理障碍患者已使用药物治疗的个案背景,选用短篇文献,进行引领阅读启发思考、指导作业强化认知和交流讨论净化心灵的阅读治疗。同时停止使用药物治疗,综合运用＂同伴疗法＂、＂家庭疗法＂、＂体能训练法＂和＂实践领悟法＂等心理治疗方法进行8次治疗。跟踪一年,案主无论在学习还是在人际关系方面表现优良,得到同学和老师的广泛认可。证明：基于阅读疗法的综合干预,是使大学新生心理障碍患者在认知、情感及行为诸方面发生积极变化,消除心理障碍,促进个性成长、人格完善,从而使其达到心身健康的有效方法。  相似文献
