ABSTRACT

The article analyses a debate that preoccupied the Russian press in the winter of 1878/9. Writers, journalists and scientists discussed whether mathematics could explain spiritualist séance phenomena. At its core, this was an assessment of social change and a debate about the ambiguity of modern life. While spiritualists hoped to bridge the divide between science and religion, subjectivity and objectivity, their opponents feared that séance phenomena and modern mathematics undermined a rationalist world-view that was endowed with reliability and universal truth. That no agreement could be reached indicates that the post-reform public sphere had become truly pluralist and modern.  相似文献   

Contradictions around differentiation for pupils with dyslexia learning English as a Foreign Language at secondary school

This article deals with differentiation of teaching methods and extra time in class for pupils with dyslexia by English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in two Greek state secondary schools. Activity theory is applied to analyse the contradictions that emerge around the issue of differentiation for pupils with dyslexia from data compiled from interviews with teachers, pupils and parents and field notes from lesson observations across two schools. The analysis shows that contradictions are created when participants try to achieve their goals for differentiation by lack of teachers’ knowledge, inadequate diagnosis, unclear school and Ministry policy, short duration of lessons and the number of pupils in class. The findings suggest the necessity of teacher training in dyslexia and the improvement of school and Ministry policy.  相似文献   

我国大学生体育态度对自我和谐的影响研究*

通过SCCS自我和谐量表以及自编问卷,对2391名大学生体育态度对自我和谐影响做U检验和相关研究,实验结果表明:体育态度与自我和谐之间具有高度负相关性(相关系数为0.92).其中,男大学生体育态度得分高于女大学生;艺体类体育态度得分最高,理工次之,文史最差;大一学生体育态度得分最高,大二、大三次之,大四最差;在自我和谐度上,男大学生的自我和谐度优于女大学生;艺体类大学生自我和谐度最好,理工类次之,文史类最差;大一学生自我和谐度最好,大二、大三次之,大四最差.  相似文献

工资福利关系人们的生活水平与质量，然综观新中国工资福利制度研究，多从经济学视角出发探讨现实相关问题，而关于新中国初期工资福利制度专题研究十分有限，且主要集中在供给制及人民公社分配制度等几方面，缺乏对这一阶段工资福利制度建设的整体关注，特别是福利制度研究尤为缺乏。此外，资料搜集整理、区域性及比较研究等方面亦存在不足，需要积极转换视角、加强学科之间融合、不断扩大研究内容，以推动这一问题研究的发展与深入。  相似文献

量化管理的唯科学论显现了量化管理在科研评价方面的局限性，但几年来公安院校依然以科研量化作为科研评价的主要方式，致使科研管理问题频出，本应严谨务实的学术研究出现了投机取巧、急功近利的不正常现象，量化标准取代了学术的实际价值，这些看似严谨的量化标准成了少数人获取名利的阶石。针对这些现象，有必要分析问题的根源，挖掘问题的症结，引导人们在实践中找出解决问题的方法与策略。  相似文献

Educational institutions, like most social service organizations, need to recognize intersectionality and complexity and move away from monolithic conceptions of homelessness – if they recognize homelessness at all. This first person account of a gay, Cambodian refugee illustrates the enormous complexity schools face in forming institutional responses for the needs of homeless, highly mobile, and economically displaced children and youth. This article demonstrates an effort to avoid reductionist definitions of homelessness and to include experiential representations of humans living at the margins (under the 5th Avenues of the world, in central parks, in downtown shelters, outside of the ethical and systemic “home” of current ideologies and social orders, under the politics of HIV in Africa, as refugees and as those “othered” by dominant social narratives).
