Introduction to Usus,a Community Website on Library Usage,and a Discussion about COUNTER 4

Established in 2014, Usus (Latin for usage), supported by Counting Online Usage of NeTworked Electronic Resources (COUNTER), but editorially independent, is a community-run website designed to provide a space for librarians, consortia, publishers, aggregators, repository managers, and scholars to discuss all aspects of usage, including particular ways that use is measured. In this session, Usus Supervisory Board members provided an introduction to Usus, outlined the purpose of the community-run site, and discussed how librarians may utilize the site to submit ongoing and complex usage issues. In addition, the presenters engaged attendees in discussing specific e-resource usage issues they have encountered as well as report changes and additions in the recently released COUNTER Code of Practice 4.  相似文献   

Using Google Forms to track library space usage

This article is a response to the excellent “Using Mobile Technology to Observe Student Study Behaviors and Track Library Space Usage” by Susan Thompson. Thompson reviews the literature regarding user counts on mobile devices and describes the California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) Library's evaluation of SUMA, Counter+, and CloudOn. After trialing these mobile technologies, CSUSM selected CloudOn. At New York University Abu Dhabi, we use Google Forms to conduct user counts on an iPad and Google Sheets to evaluate these data. We find that Google Forms are easy to set up, modify as necessary, and present the data in easy-to-manipulate spreadsheets.  相似文献

Increasingly, career centers on university and college campuses are making use of the World Wide Web to help their users with a myriad of career related needs. This technological service delivery mode has many advantages that will be briefly reviewed in this article. As well, a computer emphasis has the potential for drastically changing career centers as we know them: their traffic patterns, staffing needs, resource procurement, and perhaps most importantly, their outcomes in the lives of the students who make use of them. 程度副词修饰名词原本不是一个被语法学界完全认可的语法组合,然而在当代口语及书面语中,“程度副词 名词”组合却有越来越多的人使用。可见,“程度副词 名词”虽是一类很特殊的结构,但已具有相当程度的可接受性。与一般意义上的名词不同,进入这一结构中的名词需具有由具体指称向情状描述转化的潜在语义特征,这一类名词与程度副词的组合弥补了形容词语义表达上的问题,并由此引发了部分名词向名形兼类词的转变。  相似文献
