The impact of digital technology on archival science

Archival science is to be regarded as a system. The properties of that system can be investigated and integrated. The methodology to do so has been tested in two research projects which are presented in this article as examples of the way in which the view of archival science as a system supports the development of new knowledge and as a demonstration of the stability of archival theory. This article presupposes that the archival discipline is also a “science”. Many have argued against the idea on the basis of a common perception that a science is a type of study entirely objective by virtue of the rigorous manner in which it is carried out and the restricted range of topics to which it applies. In fact, the activity of science is based upon a complex framework of assumptions that make it possible for the landscape of the scientific endeavour to be redrawn over time, and, while striving towards objectivity, considers it to be an unattainable ideal.  相似文献   

A Corpus-Based Learning Method of Compound Noun Indexing Rules for Korean

In Korean information retrieval, compound nouns play an important role in improving precision in search experiments. There are two major approaches to compound noun indexing in Korean: statistical and linguistic. Each method, however, has its own shortcomings, such as limitations when indexing diverse types of compound nouns, over-generation of compound nouns, and data sparseness in training. In this paper, we propose a corpus-based learning method, which can index diverse types of compound nouns using rules automatically extracted from a large corpus. The automatic learning method is more portable and requires less human effort, although it exhibits a performance level similar to the manual-linguistic approach. We also present a new filtering method to solve the problems of compound noun over-generation and data sparseness.  相似文献

Wir pr?sentieren ein Managementsystem, das insbesondere hinsichtlich der Dynamik von Entwicklungsprozessen über die Funktionalit?t kommerzieller Systeme zum Projektmanagement, Workflowmanagement und Engineering Data Management hinausgeht. AHEAD (Adaptable and Human-CenteredEnvironment for the MAnagement of Development Processes) unterstützt die Koordination von Entwicklern durch integriertes Management von Produkten, Aktivit?ten und Ressourcen. Für das Management von Aktivit?ten werden dynamische Aufgabennetze angeboten, die sich durch nahtloses Verschr?nken von Planen, Analysieren und Ausführen auszeichnen. Alle Managementdaten (z.B. Aufgabennetze, Versionshistorien oder Produktkonfigurationen) werden intern in einheitlicher Weise durch Graphen repr?sentiert.
