A knock to the system: A new sociotechnical systems approach to sport-related concussion

Broader contextual factors that influence concussion management have tended to be overlooked. To address this, the present study used a sociotechnical systems approach to identify perceived responsibilities and applied strategies for three domains of concussion management (i.e., prevention, identification and treatment). Participants were 118 members of the community rugby union system in Australia (69.2% male). Participants from throughout the rugby system (e.g., players, parents, coaches, club management) were asked open-ended questions about their perceived responsibilities and the strategies they use for concussion management. It was found that (a) proper training, technique correction and education were recurrent prevention themes; (b) the majority of key stakeholders felt that they could consistently identify concussion; however, medical aids (medics) were the only system actors who stated a responsibility to use standardised concussion assessment measures and (c) less than one third of the respondents indicated their involvement in treating concussion. This study identifies specific junctures in the system that prevents effective concussion management strategies. A sociotechnical systems approach improves the understanding of concussion prevention, and management beliefs and behaviours.  相似文献   

生态脆弱区社会经济与资源环境耦合协调度研究:以云南省昭通市为例

对于生态脆弱地区，探寻其社会经济发展与资源环境的协调发展模式对于实现地区的可持续发展具有重要意义。构建相对资源承载力模型和耦合协调度模型，测算云南省昭通市相对资源人口承载力和经济承载力，并对"经济-资源环境-社会"系统协调发展度进行时空分析。结果表明：1）昭通市相对资源人口承载力超载严重，社会资源承载力低且显著超载；2）相对资源经济承载力处于富余状态，资源的经济价值尚未充分开发；3）昭通市社会经济发展受资源环境制约显著，系统不协调度有拉大趋势。提高第二产业发展水平，优化产业结构是促进昭通市"经济-资源环境-社会"系统协调发展的主要措施。  相似文献   

Family factors and parenting in Ukraine

The present study aimed to estimate the use of positive and negative parenting practices in Ukraine and explore relationships between parenting practices, intimate partner violence (IPV), alcohol use, and sociodemographics. Parents of children (N = 320) ages 9–16 from three Ukrainian regions answered questions from the Alabama Parenting Questionnaire (APQ), the Revised Conflict Tactics Scales (CTS-R), Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation Scale (FACES), and the Alcohol Use Section of the Drinking and Drug History and Current Use Patterns questionnaire. Ukrainian parents who reported lower use of alcohol, balanced family functioning and lower intimate partner violence were more likely to use positive parenting and less likely to use negative parenting practices. Parents with lower education were more likely to use negative parenting practices. Furthermore, alcohol use, IPV, parent education and higher family income were significantly and indirectly related with positive and negative parenting scores. The model explained 61% of variance in the positive parenting, 67% in the negative parenting.  相似文献

The role of the library is to assist citizens in skills development critical to national interest and empowerment as literacy ambassadors, in general. Specifically, the work by the Federal Geographic Data Committee (1994) indicates that spatial literacy is for every citizen and not just a set of workforce specialists. Hence, the use of maps in decision making and problem solving will become fundamental to all professions, including library professionals. Thus, a spatial literacy awareness and rationale for such as standard job ability is discussed as a future librarian workforce proficiency and knowledge transfer medium.  相似文献

Childhood adversity and the risk of substance use and delinquency: The role of protective adult relationships

Youth involved in the child welfare system experience multiple early adversities that can contribute to increased risk of substance use and delinquency. Although adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have been associated with poorer behavioral outcomes among youth, less is known about the possible protective factors that may influence the relationship between early adversity and risk-taking behavior. This study examined whether protective adult relationships moderated the link between cumulative ACEs and substance use and delinquency after controlling for demographic characteristics in child welfare-involved youth. The sample included 1054 youth, ages 11–17, from the National Survey of Child and Adolescent Well-Being II who were in the first wave of data collection. Results showed that protective adult relationships moderated the relationship between ACEs and substance use, but not for delinquency. Specifically, under lower levels of protective adult relationships, cumulative ACEs related to increased substance use among youth. Implications for child welfare practices to target youths' support systems are discussed.  相似文献

This paper advances a first‐pass theory of change in the styling of objects of domestic utility. It is based on the idea that the expressive potential of design for the maker, the user and the designer exists in tension with other desirable properties of the designed artefact. Respectively these are mass availability, conformity to professionally‐defined ideas of good taste, and the demands of function and marketability. [目的/意义]通过探讨多角色馆员协同工作模式下高校图书馆个性化图书荐购系统的构建与完善,为其他高校图书馆建设图书荐购系统、提升读者荐书的积极性提供参考。[方法/过程]以上海交通大学图书馆图书荐购系统建设实践为例,从传统与新型荐书系统对比、协同工作模式分析、系统设计与实现等方面出发,全面解读协同工作模式下的高校图书馆新型图书荐购系统建设实践,并对该图书荐购系统建设的实践进行思考。[结果/结论]上海交通大学图书馆通过多角色馆员协作模式,构建智能化、特色化的图书荐购系统,提高用户荐书的积极性和主动性,促进学科资源与用户需求的契合。开发一个功能丰富、荐书反馈及时的图书荐购系统有助于改善高校图书馆读者荐书的积极性。  相似文献
