DDC Classification Rules

Melvil Dewey provided generally applicable classification guidelines or rules with his classification schedules, beginning with the second edition of his scheme. Many cataloging textbooks have adopted these guidelines. Recent editions of the Dewey Decimal Classification, however, provide considerably changed, quite intricate, and edition-specific rules. The resulting two different sets of classification rules are similar in theory but very different in application. Classifiers must be aware of both sets. They are summarized in two decision charts that are intended to illustrate the differences and similarities between the two sets of rules and to encourage consistent classification decisions. The need is expressed for a parallel, end-user-oriented searching code.  相似文献

不同的引用动因和目的导致各种各样的引文失范。引文的标注形式和主体内容决定了引文的形式失范和内容失范。同时,学术道德规范的缺失又引发大量的虚假模糊引文。厘清引文的内涵与外延以及它与参考文献的联系与区别,正确对待现有学术标准和规范,并在运用中使之日臻完善;责任编辑应树立正确的引文价值观,恪守职业操行,公正、合理、专业、规范地处理引文问题;作者要掌握正确应用引文的原则与方法,增强文献情报利用的能力,避免"主观故意"的引文失范。  相似文献

Abstract

An adaptation of the previously developed Exercise and Self-Esteem Model (Sonstroem &; Morgan, 1989) was tested longitudinally with 93 male interscholastic swimmers from nine high schools who were evaluated at pre-, mid-, and postseason. Swimmers completed three self-perception scales that ranged from evaluations of specific swim skills (SKILL) through broader perceived physical competence (PC) to global self-esteem (SE). Performance scores (PERF) were calculated across events by standardizing swim times to a mean of 0 and a standard deviation of 1. Structural modeling analysis across the three time waves indicated an excellent data fit(χ² = 25.46, p > .15). The model was able to explain 84, 83, and 80% of PC, SKILL, and PERF, respectively, at the third testing period. Swim improvement tended to be small (median change = 2.9%). Relationships among variables at each testing period and among the same variables at different testing periods were large and as hypothesized. Several significant relationships occurred between different variables across different testing periods. These were not extinguished when social desirability was added to the model. Social desirability failed to significantly influence subsequent measures of any model variable.  相似文献

大数据环境下科技期刊同被引文献数的学术评价功能——基于与引证文献数的对比研究

基于科技创新成果评价与管理的视角,研究科技期刊论文同被引文献数的科学内涵和学术价值。通过频数分析、回归分析与变异系数的差异性分析,对比研究引证文献数和同被引文献数的特征及评价功能。研究发现,引证文献数与同被引文献数既有正相关性,又有显著差异性,同被引文献数的内涵更为丰富。大数据环境下同被引文献数在时间上的反应速度比引证文献数快,且具有客观性、科学性和有效性等优势,具有很强的学术评价功能,涉及到期刊、论文、作者的学术影响力以及学科或选题的热度,可以作为学术评价的重要补充手段。  相似文献
