This study explores the intersectionality among identity markers, such as gender, race, and class, and emotion management in two bureaucratic organizations – municipal courtrooms and airport security checkpoints. We name and explore a new type of dirty work called “hidden taint,” which we describe as a larger, encompassing category of dirty work that involves the experience and dynamic co-construction of taint. Utilizing qualitative methods including participant observation and interviews, we compare how hidden taint is experienced in each bureaucratic context. The results focus on the relationship between (1) hidden taint and the co-construction of emotion norms and (2) hidden taint and power dynamics. This study extends communication theory by naming and describing hidden taint as a new type of dirty work, extending literature on emotion management and intersectionality by exploring their connection to dirty work in occupations with varying levels of prestige, and detailing how emotion management is co-constructed between employees and patrons in bureaucratic contexts.  相似文献

The literature on trolling has viewed trolling as discrete instances of transgression undertaken by antagonistic individuals. We identify three main issues with current theorizations: diffuse definitions of “trolling,” blurred boundaries between trolling and other online anti-social behaviors, and the context dependency of trolling. To address these unresolved issues, we adopt a practice-based theoretical approach. Informed by this approach, we analyze trolling behaviors not as products of individuals' attitudes, values, and decisions, but rather as behaviors embedded within and occurring as part of social practices. Specifically, we conduct a practice-based theoretical analysis in a multi-site exploratory study involving online archival research and in-depth interviews with online community members. Based on this analysis, we propose that trolling be conceived as a constellation of three social practices: learning, assimilating, and transgressing. Also, we find that practices of trolling transgression can have a dual pro-social and anti-social impact in online communities.  相似文献

Web 2.0 allows people to express and share their opinions about products and services they buy/use. These opinions can be expressed in various ways: numbers, texts, emoticons, pictures, videos, audios, and so on. There has been great interest in the strategies for extracting, organising and analysing this kind of information. In a social media mining framework, in particular, the use of textual data has been explored in depth and still represents a challenge. On a rating and review website, user satisfaction can be detected both from a rating scale and from the written text. However, in common practice, there is a lack of algorithms able to combine judgments provided with both comments and scores. In this paper we propose a strategy to jointly measure the user evaluations obtained from the two systems. Text polarity is detected with a sentiment-based approach, and then combined with the associated rating score. The new rating scale has a finer granularity. Moreover, also enables the reviews to be ranked. We show the effectiveness of our proposal by analysing a set of reviews about the Uffizi Gallery in Florence (Italy) published on TripAdvisor.  相似文献

Similar to individuals, organizations display characteristics that speak to qualities and abilities. Our guest writer, Lisa Bodenheimer, discusses a trait that is critical for library organizations during this period of constant change and transformation. Resiliency is the ability to rebound and flex as circumstances shift enabling an organization to thrive and adjust during difficult times. This skill is typically developed through experiences, but, as Ms. Bodenheimer outlines, organizations are able to strategize in order to build employee and organizational resilience. Such a proactive approach will enable a library organization to better weather challenging situations and times as difficulties will enviably occur. This article describes the ongoing efforts at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Libraries to evolve the role of the institutional repository (IR) and to effectively position it within the context of the Libraries’ collections, research support, and scholarly communication services. A major component of this process is re-examining the fundamental aims of the IR and aligning it to the Libraries and the campus strategic goals. The authors situate UNLV Libraries’ experience within the context of the current literature to provide background and reasoning for our decision to pursue two, at times conflicting, aims for the IR: one for scholarly communication and another for research administration.  相似文献

[目的/意义] 分析科学数据共享的研究现状及其发展趋势,为促进国内相关理论研究与实践进展提供参考。[方法/过程] 通过对国内外文献进行梳理和归纳,提炼出与科学数据共享研究相关的三大类主题:科学数据共享发展需求、科学数据管理共享模式与机制和科学数据服务共享度与服务效果,并构建科学数据共享管理分析框架,该框架体现上述三类主题之间的因果关联,强调科学数据共享管理与服务的合理面、重要度、关键性。[结果/结论] 国内外现有研究尚存不足,未来研究在加强实证研究、着眼管理机制完善的同时,还需注重共享服务模式的创新。  相似文献

大型复杂项目的网络不是多个子网的简单叠加,而是分层的空间结构。本文运用复杂网络的理论和方法,构造了大型复杂项目空间网络结构的三元组模型,并定义了空间网络的链接运算与收缩运算;然后对子项目关联系数、子项目关键度指数、活动关键度指数及求解算法进行研究,由此可以从项目层次、子项目层次和活动层次分析大型复杂项目的空间网络结构特征,并提出针对性的管理策略。案例研究表明,本文提出的空间网络结构及网络运算可准确描述大型复杂项目的网络结构,同时通过分析网络特征可提出有效的项目管理策略。  相似文献

通过文献分析法、实证分析法对国内外的智库及智库人才发展现状进行分析研究。目前我国智库人才方面存在以下几个问题:第一,智库人才学科背景、研究方向、工作经历等相对单一;第二,智库人才配置上缺少明确分工设置;第三,缺少智库人才的培养机制及交流平台;第四,智库人才聘用机制不够灵活。结合国内外智库人才配置情况,提出六点建议:(1)优化智库人才结构,建立具体分工机制;(2)打造学科专业多样化的智库人才队伍;(3)搭建人才交流平台;(4)创新智库人才管理机制及聘任机制;(5)完善智库人才评价体系;(6)设立知识库等专门的信息采集部门。以期能够实现我国智库人才的创新管理与培养,促进智库发展及建设,更好地解决我国各方面发展改革中所面临的问题。  相似文献
