Technological Study of the Decoration on an Erard Harp from 1818

ABSTRACT

Historical pedal harps from the early nineteenth century are highly adorned objects, decorated with various techniques such as polychromy, gilding, decoupage, and gilt composition ornaments. Even though a large number of such instruments are kept in private and public collections, until now their decorative features have not been examined systematically. Moreover, little has been written about the motives behind the choice of various decorative techniques by harp makers. This article presents results from the investigation of a double-action harp made in 1818 by Erard, the leading manufacturer of harps in Regency London, focusing on the technological aspects of its decorative features. Various analytical methods, such as visual examination, microscopy, SEM-EDX, FTIR, and Py-GC-MS, were used to identify the inorganic and organic components in the coating of the harp and to analyse its stratigraphy. Inspection with ultraviolet light revealed details of the original layers and of later additions, while radiography made the internal structure as well as damaged areas and repairs visible. The outcome of this object-based examination was complemented by archival research on the Erard firm, providing new insight into Erard’s production and marketing strategies.  相似文献

中国国家羽毛球队备战2012伦敦奥运会体能训练设计与实施

摘要：2006年羽毛球比赛实行21分制，使强队之间的比赛更加激烈，比赛结果更加不确定。面对新情况，研究主要采用专家访谈、实践设计等方法对中国国家羽毛球队备战2012年伦敦奥运会体能训练过程进行了全面的分析。结果表明羽毛球项目是以有氧能力为基础，磷酸原和糖酵解为主要供能方式的运动。我国羽毛球运动员存在功能性动作障碍、运动损伤率较高，腰伤已经成为影响队伍正常训练的最大障碍。通过矫正性练习可以有效预防损伤，并改善身体形态、动作模式、提高运动表现。羽毛球体能训练体系主要由评估、方案、反馈、完善4方面构成。伦敦奥运会备战体能训练划分准备期、赛前期、比赛期和恢复期四个阶段，在一般训练和专项训练衔接方面，功能性训练起到了很好的纽带作用，奥运会前的程序化参赛演练为运动员的最后备战起到了锦上添花的作用。  相似文献

This article is about the clothing of country gentlemen in late seventeenth and early eighteenth century England. It begins with an exploration of the London-centric depiction in popular literature of country gentlemen as old fashioned in their manners, dress and lifestyle. It then explores the main elements of male fashion and the role of London in creating and disseminating it. Drawing on surviving clothing accounts, it subsequently offers a detailed analysis of what a number of country gentlemen were wearing during this period, exploring the extent to which they participated in London's fashion culture and their preferences for London-bought clothing.  相似文献

Creative Potential within Policy: An Analysis of the 2013 English Literature Curriculum

This article takes as its focus Lefebvre's trialectic of conceived, perceived and lived spaces as a lens through which to scrutinise the 2013 English Literature Curriculum, and to explore the extent to which creative spaces might exist within that curriculum. The article analyses how the curriculum is envisaged by policymakers and how it might be expected to be translated into practice, utilising the wording of the policy document to facilitate an exploration of what its underlying intentions might be. The author's experience of teaching a poem from the new curriculum is used in order to provide illustrative examples of the ways in which teachers’ and learners’ experiences of the curriculum might, in practice, diverge from the direction envisaged by policymakers as teachers negotiate creative spaces within their classrooms.  相似文献

以伦敦奥运会中国男子篮球队备战为节点,采用文献资料调研、录像观察、数理统计、比较研究等方法,从定性和定量两方面,对第16届世界男子篮球锦标赛中国队的5场比赛进行分析。结果表明,在第16届世界男子篮球锦标赛中,中国队紧逼与破紧逼能力双提高,攻防整体性较好,易建联成为新的内线核心初露端倪。存在的不足是后卫线仍然偏弱,决胜期得分硬实力不足,突破攻击能力有待加强,体能分配不合理等。据此,以第29届奥运会和第16届世界男子篮球锦标赛前8名球队各项指标的统计数据为依据,以世界强队的技、战术打法为参照,结合中国队的实力情况,提出着重解决的技、战术问题与应对策略。  相似文献

运用文献资料法和数理统计法,对刘翔七次重大比赛的分段速度与全程成绩进行分析,找出了影响专项成绩的主要因素,分别建立了刘翔的专项成绩和分段成绩的预测模型。结果显示,其全程成绩与冲刺段、第6、4栏的分段速度关系最为密切;GM(1,1)模型对刘翔预测成绩为12.86 s。  相似文献
