Abstract

From a historical perspective, it was only in the modern era that the academic profession was favored by the middle and upper classes who came to dominate it. This article shows that, in contemporary China, the pattern of the middle and upper classes dominating the academic profession results from their families having a good early education and access to educational resources, although these advantages decrease through the years of schooling as they are replaced by the effects of the institution. Overall, class differences behind the choice of academic profession result from the differences in economic conditions of families and the inequality in resource distribution at all levels of education, rather than class culture and taste. Therefore, it is essential to implement a strategy to prioritize education, to enrich educational resources for all, and to extend the years of schooling for all. This will not only improve the quality of the workforce, develop personal potential, and cultivate creative and highly talented people, but also help to promote the development of society and steadily build a harmonious and orderly society.  相似文献

Teacher burnout is a growing phenomenon that may dramatically reduce the quality of life of both teachers and students. Many studies have conceptualized teaching as a high-contact profession and, focusing on the emotional exhaustion dimension of burnout, they have highlighted the relation with students as a key dimension of teachers’ stress. This paper presents an original instrument (TSS-Sr) to measure teachers’ stress related to the interaction with their pupils. It provides the psychometric characteristic of this scale. Results support a model of measurement of teacher social stress based on four dimensions: verbal aggression, dislike students, awkward reactions, demanding requests. Implications about the use and the applications of this instrument are discussed.  相似文献

我国各级教育行政机构所属教研室拥有教研员总数多达十余万人之众,但迄今尚未形成教研员专业,而基础教育学校中各主要学科,因以未成年学生为教育对象,以致在教—学活动中多有无法回避的难题,又缺乏切切实实的研究和必要的指导,故以教学法为研究的课题。其中既以我国特殊的教育行政体制说明设置教研员的必要和缺乏教研员专业的缘由,又论定我国教育行政体系更有理由与条件带动有志于教学法研究的教师开展教学法研究,并对开展接教—学活动地气的研究提出初步建议。  相似文献

Abstract

The “2014 Chinese University Faculty Survey” found that: University faculty in China are young, recent recipients of their academic degrees, and have a high level of inbreeding within academia; there is a high percentage of doctoral degree holders; a large proportion are from villages and towns, and have parents with low-level education and employment; overall they feel high levels of work pressure as well as job satisfaction. They work on average 45?hours a week and are paid nearly RMB 110,000 yuan per year. One third of them live in “policy apartments,” one third have no overseas experience, and one fifth would not choose the academic profession again if they had the chance. They would prefer a teaching to research ratio of 2:8, but their actual work ratio for teaching, research, and service is 4:4.5:1.5. Three conclusions may be drawn from the results of the survey: the academic profession is highly equitable, but would benefit from people from more diverse backgrounds joining; there is a high threshold for entering the profession but opportunities for advancement need to be improved; it is a highly specialized profession that places a high demand on academic excellence.  相似文献

大学教师流动影响因素涉及教师隐私,传统研究往往效果不佳。本文首次尝试引入"非接触式"研究方法,试图通过对互联网平台的大数据资源进行扎根分析,克服传统大学教师流动影响因素研究的失真失实等问题。本研究对部分大学教师流动传统影响因素进行了验证,并首次发现了多个新的重要因素。本研究对大学教师流动各影响因素的重要性进行了重新排序,构建了包含4个一级指标、13个二级指标和若干个三级指标的"四维度-多中心-开放式"大学教师流动影响因素新的理论框架。本研究具有重要的方法创新意义,未来随着更多大学教师流动大数据资源的引入,将可能构建形成更具有流动预测能力的大学教师流动理论模型。  相似文献

The aim of the study is to discursively identify student teachers’ perceptions of the teaching profession early in their education and their motives for this career choice. Students wrote a letter sharing thoughts on why they want to become a teacher, how they regard the teaching profession and if someone inspired them in their career choice. The empirical data consists of 259 student texts from three Swedish teacher education programmes. The study employed a qualitative method denoting different categorizations compared to previous studies, emphasising the idea of multiple motives for career choice and the link to student teachers’ evolving pedagogical identity. Major differences can be distinguished among the programmes, emphasising different main motives and shifting incipient pedagogic identities. The results indicate the value of organising teacher education programmes drawing on multiple motives, which is expected to contribute positively to completion of teacher education and teacher retention in future profession.  相似文献

In this paper, we explore the developmental challenges facing the academic profession in Europe and especially in some Western Balkan countries, Croatia and Slovenia. First, we look at how the higher education environment determines key changes to the academic profession: expectations to demonstrate professional expertise, internationalisation, segmentation, and precarity. While these processes are mainly considered from the above perspective, we also examine the work of academics from within. Second, we discuss aspects of academic tasks, challenges of synchronising academic work with performance measures, intensification of work and expansion of bureaucratic tasks. Building on these perspectives, we introduce a qualitative pilot study that tests how these general trends described in the literature may be applied to given situations in five countries of former Yugoslavia: Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia and Kosovo. Although these countries cover a relatively small geographical area, the differences among them with respect to the economy, society and politics are important. Our findings suggest that problems accumulating in academic work in Slovenia and Croatia were in almost all of the surveyed aspects less problematic than in the three other observed countries.  相似文献
