The Old Man and the Sea is one of the masterpieces of Hemingway,which describes the old fisherman Santiago is always collected in the presence of danger and maintains a high level of dignity in the struggle with nature. DiMaggio does not really appear in the novel,but the role he plays in the novel is very important. This article discusses the subtle and indispensable role he plays based on the dialogues between the child and Santiago and his inner activities when fighting with the marlin and the shark at the sea.  相似文献
