University Training for Entrepreneurship—An Action Frame of Reference

Global concern for knowledge about and competencies for entrepreneurship and small business is growing. When discussing university training for entrepreneurship an action-oriented approach is needed. Originating in an elaboration of Kolb's model of action learning, an ‘entrepreneurial action capability’ (EAC) test is constructed. The test is based on the ‘critical-incident’ technique and validated against other images of entrepreneurial characteristics. Swedish university students, including those on special programmes oriented towards innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as existing small-business owner-managers are analyzed with the help of the EAC and associated tests. Substantive conclusions indicate that owner-managers, business students and engineering students score differently on the EAC test. It is argued that these groups use their intuition and analogical reasoning differently. The lest findings are used to modify the original learning model. Methodological lessons are that any formal tests, however realistic with respect to contents, are alien to practitioners. Thus, comparisons across different learning contexts for entrepreneurship entail great difficulties.  相似文献   

Computer-aided Hypermedia for Learning and Self Studies

A complete coverage of the course content does not lead the student to explorative curiosity and to a scientific attitude to knowledge and learning. Interactive hypermedia use will lead to an epistemological quality raising since in that way students’ independence in planning, knowledge acquisition and problem solving might be facilitated and since at the same time tutorial supervision and guidance can be included. Hypermedia have possibilities to provide students with large quantities of information. With network interfacing learning can take place independent of time and place and individualized education will be possible. Combined with CMC (computer mediated communication) and educational software the student has a tool for life-long education within the classroom. At the Växjö University text, images and simulations have been integrated within a hypertext system: Hyperbook (for Macintosh). At the Royal Institute of Technology we develop this concept to use it with computer-based self-study material in mechanics, a project which started in autumn 1990 using HyperCard. At the University of Lund a development of hypertext material in the form of computer illustrated text for a thermodynamics textbook has just started. An example of limits of models will be demonstrated by a computer simulation of a linearized and a non-linearized pendulum.  相似文献   

Statistical Engineering for Quality and Productivity Improvements

RESUME

The quality concept is today strongly connected with customer satisfaction. One important reason for the quality and productivity success in the Japanese industry is a consequent and systematic use of statistical methods during different stages of the production process. The quality challenge of the European industry therefore implies claims both on the industry to use more statistical methods and on the teaching of statistics at engineering schools at different levels. In this paper we discuss the modern quality development and the role of statistical methods in this development. We also emphasize its strong implications for the teaching of statistics at engineering schools.

Le concept ‘qualite’ est de nos jours en relation étroite avec la satisfaction du client. Une des raisons importantes du succès, en fait de qualité el de productivité, de I'industrie japonaise est I'utilisation conséquente et systématique des méthodes statistiques dans les différentes étapes du processus de production. Le defi ‘qualité’ pour I'industrie europeenne exige alors, d'une part I'intensification de I'utilisation de méthodes statistiques dans I'industrie, et d'autre part I'enseignement de la statistique dans les ecoles d'ingenieurs à differents niveaux. Dans cet article, nous discutons le developpement moderne du concept ‘qualité’ et le rdle des methodes statistiques dans ce développement.
