Inhibitory Control Across the Preschool Years: Developmental Changes and Associations with Parenting

The normative developmental course of inhibitory control between 2.5 and 6.5 years, and associations with maternal and paternal sensitivity and intrusiveness were tested. The sample consisted of 383 children (52.5% boys). During four annual waves, mothers and fathers reported on their children’s inhibitory control using the Children's Behavior Questionnaire. During the first wave, mothers’ and fathers’ sensitivity and intrusiveness were observed and coded with the Emotional Availability Scales. Inhibitory control exhibited partial scalar invariance over time, and increased in a decelerating rate. For both mothers and fathers, higher levels of sensitivity were associated with a higher initial level of children's inhibitory control, whereas higher levels of intrusiveness predicted a slower increase in children's inhibitory control. 相似文献

This paper discusses the underlying framework for the protetype of a Hypertext-based tool for the preparation of on-line Design Brief Expansion (DBE) Documents as applied to a systematic design process. It describes the mapping of the DBE into Hypertext and shows how the electronic version of this process is not only more efficient, but also conveys more accessible information than a traditional paper version. It also explains how a natural language system (chunker) can be used to structure the information. The paper concludes with an assessment of how the prototype, implemented in C and HyperNeWS, will be used and a discussion of future improvements. 相似文献

This article examines how shortened magazine supply duration of magazines effects newsstand sales. Based on a quasi-experimental design, panel data are gathered from a total of 33 newsstand vendors in cooperation with a magazine wholesaler in southwestern Germany. As results show, a shortening in magazines' supply duration does not lead to a significant decrease in a newsstand vendor's or a wholesaler's overall revenues. Furthermore, diverse categories of magazines are affected differently by a shortening of supply durations. 相似文献

The need for orientation is the most prominent contingent conditionfor agenda-setting effects. It provides a psychological explanationfor why people engage in information seeking and why some peopleare susceptible to agenda-setting effects while others are not.The purpose of this paper is to present the development andempirical validation of a three-dimensional scale of need fororientation. Based on a review of previous measures, three dimensionsof need for orientation are posited: The need for orientationtowards issues, the need for orientation towards facts and theneed for orientation towards journalistic evaluations. In afirst step, the model is tested on a representative sample applyingconfirmatory factor analysis. After some modifications, themodel is finally validated on another, independent sample. Aseries of studies demonstrate the psychometric properties ofthe measure and its construct validity with respect to relatedconstructs. The theoretical utility of the construct and themeasure of need for orientation are discussed. 相似文献
