We report an important observation that the surface conductivity of antibody layer immobilized on polylysine-coated glass substrate decreases upon the formation of complex with their specific antigens. This change in conductivity has been observed for both monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. The conductance of monoclonal mouse IgG immobilized on polylysine-coated glass substrate changed from 1.02×10−8 Ω−1 to 1.41×10−11 Ω−1 at 10 V when complex is formed due to the specific biomolecular interactions with rabbit anti-mouse IgG F(ab′)2. Similar behavior was observed when the same set up was tested in two clinical assays: (1) anti-Leishmania antigen polyclonal antibodies taken from Kala Azar positive patient serum interacting with Leishmania promastigote antigen, and (2) anti-p21 polyclonal antibodies interacting with p21 antigen. The proposed concept can represent a new immunodiagnostic technique and may have wide ranging applications in biosensors and nanobiotechnology too.  相似文献

The main objective of study is to estimate and extract various significant Demand Pull (DP) practices influencing Sustainable Development in Indian manufacturing industries. The study critically examines the effectiveness of DP strategies in manufacturing enterprises. An extensive survey of 92 companies has been executed for this study, to identify improvements made by DP practices to achieve sustainable development in manufacturing industries. The companies in the survey include medium- and large-scale manufacturing enterprises. The correlations between various DP practices and sustainable development parameters are evaluated and validated using various numerical methods and tools. The focus of the paper is on the distinguishable contributions made by DP practices like stringent implementation of government regulations, transforming capabilities, unionized labor and customer attributes towards achieving sustainable development in manufacturing industries. The inter-relationships between different DP practices with sustainable development parameters have been evaluated, to efficiently manage the objectives of sustainability and growth. However, it is also acknowledged that manufacturing enterprises need to work more actively on managing certain practices of DP. In the present study the contributions of DP practices are investigated to accomplish sustainable development in manufacturing industries. Though, issue-wise independent examination can also be organized to compute the effectiveness of DP strategies towards achieving sustainable development and quality under specific orientations. The research gives priority to enhancement in planning among various DP practices and sustainable development indicators in the industries, to impart DP as an important practice to meet the challenges of competent markets worldwide. It has been exhibited from the observations that adequate DP strategies can efficiently contribute towards recognition of sustainable development to compete in the highly progressive global market. The results of various inter-relationships among DP practices and sustainable development parameters represent the effectiveness of DP practices for accomplishment of social as well as organizational objectives. The paper examines that DP practices are significant initiatives employed by the manufacturing organizations for performance improvement and sustainable development. The paper peeks into the study to find out DP issues that need to be assessed efficiently by companies to avail the benefits of sustainable development to meet the challenges posed by international markets.  相似文献

Coronary Artery Disease is the major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Traditional risk factors account for only half of the morbidity and mortality from coronary artery disease. There is substantial evidence that oxidative stress plays the major role in the atherosclerotic process. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the level of lipid peroxidation (by measuring malondialdehyde) and antioxidant enzymes (ceruloplasmin, glutathione, superoxide dismutase) in coronary artery disease. Serum malondialdehyde levels and serum ceruloplasmin levels were significantly raised in all the subgroups of study group as compared to control group (p<0.001). Whole blood glutathione levels and hemolysate superoxide dismutase activity was significantly decreased in all the subgroups of study group as compared to control group (p<0.001). Above results suggests that the patients of coronary artery disease show increased oxidative stress and decreased levels of antioxidant enzymes. So it is recommended that the management protocol for coronary artery disease patients should include antioxidant supplementation along with simultaneous lowering of lipid peroxidation.  相似文献

We analyzed fifty years of inflation-adjusted data on the Annual Giving program of Princeton University. Most of the variation in both average size of gifts and percentage of class giving can be explained with simple models having three factors: reunion number, class identity, and fiscal year. Besides providing insights into factors influencing donations, these models provide a way to unmask features that are not evident in the raw data, such as trends in giving behavior and exceptional performances by particular classes in particular years.  相似文献

This paper explores the nature and source of mathematics homework and teachers’ and students’ perspectives about the role of mathematics homework. The subjects of the study are three grade 8 mathematics teachers and 115 of their students. Data from field notes, teacher interviews and student questionnaire are analysed using qualitative methods. The findings show that all 3 teachers gave their students homework for instructional purposes to engage them in consolidating what they were taught in class as well as prepare them for upcoming tests and examinations. The homework only involved paper and pencil, was compulsory, homogenous for the whole class and meant for individual work. The main source of homework assignments was the textbook that the students used for the study of mathematics at school. ‘Practice makes perfect’ appeared to be the underlying belief of all 3 teachers when rationalising why they gave their students homework. From the perspective of the teachers, the role of homework was mainly to hone skills and comprehend concepts, extend their ‘seatwork into out of class time’ and cultivate a sense of responsibility. From the perspectives of the students, homework served 6 functions, namely improving/enhancing understanding of mathematics concepts, revising/practising the topic taught, improving problem-solving skills, preparing for test/examination, assessing understanding/learning from mistakes and extending mathematical knowledge.  相似文献
