This study aims to ascertain student and staff attitudes to and perceptions of audio feedback made available via the virtual learning environment (VLE) for summative assessment. Consistent with action research and reflective practice, this study identifies best practice, highlighting issues in relation to implementation with the intention of redesigning activities in the light of the findings. It utilises four case studies where audio feedback was provided to students using the Wimba voice authoring tool within Blackboard Learn+ for various types of summative assessment. The intention was to identify how and in what context audio feedback via the VLE is effective and why. The research was undertaken via a combination of techniques, including a student survey and staff reflective logs. The findings indicate that students liked the convenience, effectiveness, flexibility and personalised nature of this feedback, but raised concerns with some aspects of the technology. This paper also makes practical recommendations for the use of the feedback mechanism, focusing on the most effective use of the digital medium, and highlights directions for future research.  相似文献

Blood flow restriction training technique can be affected by several factors resulting in changes in responses to training; therefore it is necessary to investigate and reveal detailed information about this novel training technique. Participants had their thigh size, thickness of subcutaneous fat, and regional bone free muscle mass measured prior to testing. A Near-Infrared Spectrometer was used to measure tissue oxygenation and a cardiovascular profiling system was utilised to measure stroke volume and heart rate. Initial restrictive pressure of 30, 50, and 70 mmHg were set in random order on three separate days, and then six target pressures were sequentially applied. Tissue oxygenation decreased significantly as both initial restrictive pressure and target pressures increased, but the magnitude of decreases was stronger with higher initial restrictive pressure. There were significant negative correlations between tissue oxygenation and leg lean body mass, total lean body mass, and thigh circumference when initial restrictive pressure was set at 30 mmHg. The findings indicated that changes in initial restrictive pressure affected the amount of venous return verified by the decreases in tissue oxygenation and stroke volume. In addition, thigh composition and size had a significant impact on the effects of initial restrictive pressure.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Mathematics has long served as a prerequisite to introductory financial accounting in the 4-year college business curriculum. However, 2-year colleges have been slower to adopt math as a prerequisite. Its usefulness in relation to achieving successful completion of accounting has not been demonstrated at either a 2-year or 4-year college. Using data from students who enrolled in introductory financial accounting at a 2-year college over a 13-year period, the research reported here consists of the generation of a logistical regression model to ascertain the role of mathematics in relation to improving the odds of success in introductory financial accounting. The results indicate that successful completion of introductory financial accounting improves when high school GPA (grade point average), collegiate maturity, as well as combined prerequisites of math and English are taken into consideration.  相似文献
