This study investigated whether videotape‐mediated instruction has any effect on the learning of the principles of audiovisual instruction, and on the development of practical skills. A total of 100 students were used as the sample population, 50 students (control group) receiving lectures on the selected concepts and the other 50 (experimental group) receiving both videotaped and lecture‐based instruction. Results indicated that the experimental group gained more, in general, than did the control group.  相似文献

This study compared the effects of televised and programmed instruction on the achievement of students from secondary schools located in rural and urban areas in Kwara State of Nigeria. A total of 300 fourth form students taking geography in their West African School Certificate Examinations were used for the urban location study, while another set of 300 students studying the same subject in the fourth form were used for the rural location study. For each location, the students were divided into three ability groups, based on average scores of their continuous assessment records in geography. The research was of the pre‐test‐post‐test control group design (Campbell & Stanley, 1966).

Results for the urban location group showed that students who studied through televised instruction performed better than those who studied with programmed instruction. For the rural location group results showed that televised instruction was more effective for high achievers while programmed instruction was more effective for the average and low achievers  相似文献

This study relates to the television viewing behaviour of selected families in Kwara State of Nigeria. A total of 600 households heads, dispersed over the 12 local government areas of Kwara State were used for the study. The instrument was a questionnaire with items designed to measure the social and spatial television viewing behaviour of each household as well as the values attached to television viewing. Results showed that the opinions of respondents tended to move towards a consensus in statements which related to the values and social effects of television. The implications are discussed of knowledge of television viewing behaviour of households on educational planning, moral reformation, policy making and the dissemination, adoption and diffusion of innovations in society.  相似文献

Does the use of musical accompaniment in instructional media enhance motivation and learning? Many instructional film producers avoid music in their presentations, but others regularly use music to accompany the instruction. Such differences in production may well affect the level of enjoyment, assimilation, retention, recall, transfer and application of the material to be learnt. This paper describes a study into whether the use of music on video‐mediated instruction has any effects on students’ learning. This paper explores a recent interdisciplinary project which brought together a visualization expert, an art historian, and an architectural historian, to study the ruins of Saint George of the Greeks Cathedral in Famagusta, eastern Cyprus, then create a virtual three-dimensional reconstruction of it. The motivation for this work, funded by Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, was to apply existing knowledge and expertise to a difficult, and very particular, heritage question on this Eastern Mediterranean Island. The creation of such a model could, it was felt, not only reiterate the academic value of thorough archival work married to state of the art technology, but also have very practical reverberations in terms of future heritage welfare and education via this ‘borderless’ domain.  相似文献
