Creating value in ecosystems: Crossing the chasm between knowledge and business ecosystems 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Policy makers take initiatives to stimulate knowledge ecosystems in technology hotspots. It is implicitly assumed that these ecosystems will lead to value networks through which the participating companies can realize a competitive advantage. Value networks refer to business ecosystems where the value proposition is offered by a group of companies which are mutually complementary. The strategy literature suggests that business ecosystems lead to competitive advantages for each of the partners in the ecosystem. Based on a unique hand-collected database of 138 innovative start-ups in the region of Flanders, we analyze the knowledge and business ecosystem and the financial support network. We find that the knowledge ecosystem is well structured and concentrated around a number of central actors while the business ecosystem is almost non-existent at the local level. Further, we find that the financial support network is almost 100% publicly backed and fails to bridge the knowledge and business ecosystem. The implications for policy makers who tend to focus on the development of local ecosystems are discussed. 相似文献

Surveillance of drinking water is essentially a health measure intended to protect the public from water borne diseases. Hydride
generator accessory coupled with atomic absorption spectrophotometer was used to analyze arsenic level in 49 ground water
samples collected from different areas of Delhi. Arsenic level in ground water samples was in the range of 0.0170 to 0.100
ppm (Mean-0.0431, Standard Deviation-0.0136, Std. error of Mean-0.00194) with minimum concentration at Raney Well No. 7 (0.0170
ppm) and maximum at Kotla Mubarak Pur (0.100 ppm). Arsenic containing sediments and percolation of chemicals into soil as
the result of dumping of garbage rich in chemicals into open landfills could be the possible source of arsenic in ground water
of Delhi. Extensive survey and continuous monitoring is required to be made to assess the magnitude of problem and earlier

This article describes the experiences of seventh‐grade students living in high poverty areas of New York City who participated in the Choice, Control and Change (C3) science curriculum. Data were collected from eight case study students in the form of individual interviews, classroom observations, and student artifacts. Analysis of these data revealed that students were able to extend their C3 science understandings beyond the classroom door by developing and expressing science agency in the following ways: (1) critically analyze the conditions of their food environment, (2) purposefully make healthier choices, and (3) expand the food and activity options available to themselves and others. Through participation in the C3 curriculum, and the science content and practices addressed therein, students began to view their worlds with a more critical mindset and to devise ways to transform themselves and the conditions of their own and others' lives. Based on the findings, we propose taking a closer look at how we might create meaningful and relevant learning opportunities for students through connecting school science with issues of personal and social significance in students' lives outside of school. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Shilajeet, a polycrest ayurvedic drug hitherto unknown for its hypolipidemic effect has been shown to lower serum cholesterol, liver cholesterol, serum triglycerides and serum phosphlipids of wistar rats fed on a cholesterol (1%) supplemented diet, by 39, 55, 47 and 25 per cent respectively, when 0.2 per cent of it was incorporated in the diet. In comparison, gum guggal (2.0 per cent in the diet) lowered the serum cholesterol, liver cholesterol, serum triglycerides and serum phospholipids by 36, 60, 49 and 8 per cent respectively. The increase in HDL-cholesterol by shilajeet was much higher (53%) compared to that by gum guggal (29%). 相似文献

To examine the effect of “DeepaniyaVati”, a herbal formulation in the management of hyperlipidemia, a randomized group pre-test
post-test study trial was carried out on fifty male (30 to 70 yrs) hyperlipidemic volunteers who were asked to follow their
normal routine diet and activity pattern throughout the investigation period. The formulation, prepared by mixing nine plant
products in equal proportion, when given in a daily dose of 2g, twice a day for a period of one month, brought about an observable
improvement in all the lipid parameters by significantly reducing total cholesterol (10%), low density lipoprotein cholesterol
(12.76%), very low density lipoprotein cholesterol (27.4%), triglycerides (34.7%) and bringing these values much nearer to
the normal levels. In control group, no such effect was noticed. A concomitant significant increase in the HDL-C levels suggests
the possible utility of “Deepaniya Vati” in the management of hyperlipidemia and the need for further detailed study. 相似文献

In a four weeks study, Aesculus hippocasteneum, a known homeo herbal slimming agent was administered at a dose of 3 drops/100
ml water to adult Wistar rats fed on Hypercholesterolemia inducing diet (HID). It successfully inhibited the rise in serum
total cholesterol (TC) and simultaneously raised serum HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C). It was also effective in reducing serum triglyceride
level (TG), whereas it failed to affect serum phospholipid (PL), liver cholesterol, liver weight and body weight of the experiment
