This study reports the development and evaluation of a Turkish-language version of three positive psychology assessments for use in clinical, education and research settings with Turkish-speaking individuals. A multistage translation of the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS; Smith et al. in International Journal of Behavioral Medicine, 15, 194–200, 2008), the General Mattering Scale (GMS; Marcus 1991) and the Short Grit Scale (GS; Duckworth & Quinn in Journal of Personality Assessment, 91, 166–174. doi:10.1080/00223890802634290, 2009) is detailed, as well as the procedure used to evaluate the internal structure of the translated assessments. The results yielded from data of 268 participants indicated factor structures ranging from acceptable to robust model fit for the BRS, GMS, and GS. Implications for counseling practice and future research are discussed. 相似文献

The impact of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) mandated state science assessment on elementary teachers’ beliefs about teaching
science and their classroom practice is relatively unknown. For many years, the teaching of science has been minimized in
elementary schools in favor of more emphasis on reading and mathematics. This study examines the dynamics of bringing science
to the forefront of assessment in elementary schools and the resulting teacher belief and instructional shifts that take place
in response to NCLB. Results indicated that teachers’ beliefs about teaching science remained unchanged despite policy changes
mandated in NCLB. Teacher beliefs related to their perceptions of what their administrators and peer groups’ think they should
be doing influenced their practice the most. Most teachers reported positive feelings and attitudes about science and reported
that their students had positive feelings and attitudes about science; however, teachers reported teaching science less as
a result of NCLB. Implications for elementary science education reform and policy are discussed. 相似文献

Introduction:
The aim of this study was to investigate whether serum levels of interleukin-1β (IL–1β) has any possible correlation on inflammatory parameters such as C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and fibrinogen concentration in patients with familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) patients during attack-free period.Materials and methods:
The serum levels of IL-1β, as an indicator of cytokines status, and the acute phase response proteins, CRP, ESR and fibrinogen levels were evaluated in 35 attack-free patients with FMF and 25 healthy volunteers. Results:
Serum IL-1β levels were significantly higher in patients with FMF than control subjects (P = 0.018). There was no statistically significant difference in the serum levels of ESR, CRP and fibrinogen between two groups (P = 0.181, P = 0.816, P = 0.686, respectively). There was a significant correlation between IL-1β and CRP (r = 0.513, P = 0.002) values of FMF group. Conclusions:
In conclusion, our results confirm the presence of increased IL-1β levels in FMF patients during attack-free period. Serum IL-1β values seems to correlate with CRP levels. The elevation of IL-1β levels may be important in monitoring subclinical inflammation of attack free period in FMF patients. 相似文献4.

IntroductionWe investigated the interference of haemolysis on ethanol testing carried out with the Synchron assay kit using an AU680 autoanalyser (Beckman Coulter, Brea, USA).Materials and methodsTwo tubes of plasma samples were collected from 20 volunteers. Mechanical haemolysis was performed in one tube, and no other intervention was performed in the other tube. After centrifugation, haemolysed and non-haemolysed samples were diluted to obtain samples with the desired free haemoglobin (Hb) values (0, 1, 2, 5, 10 g/L). A portion of these samples was then separated, and ethanol was added to the separated sample to obtain a concentration of 86.8 mmol/L ethanol. After that, these samples were diluted with ethanol-free samples with the same Hb concentration to obtain samples containing 43.4, 21.7, and 10.9 mmol/L. Each group was divided into 20 equal parts, and an ethanol test was carried out. The coefficient of variation (CV), bias, and total error (TE) values were calculated.ResultsThe TE values of haemolysis-free samples were approximately 2-5%, and the TE values of haemolysed samples were approximately 10-18%. The bias values of haemolysed samples ranged from nearly - 6.2 to - 15.7%.ConclusionsHaemolysis led to negative interference in all samples. However, based on the 25% allowable total error value specified for ethanol in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA 88) criteria, the TE values did not exceed 25%. Consequently, ethanol concentration can be measured in samples containing free Hb up to 10 g/L. 相似文献
