Exploring learning and fit in the transition from higher education to the labour market: A systematic review

The transition from higher education to the labour market is an important period for youngsters, characterised by extensive changes which act as triggers for learning. Furthermore, students’ educational background and the (in)congruence with their work context is important. Accordingly, the aim of this systematic review is to explore the role of learning and fit in the transition process. Results indicate that most emphasis is put on theoretical knowledge, communication, problem-solving, and learning skills. Although the perception on what has to be learned differs for employers, educators, and graduates, each group valued generic competences most. Results show that transfer can be experienced in three ways and the need for learning at work is stressed. Concerning fit, four types of fit are distinguished: vertical, horizontal, competence, and person-environment fit. Several personal background characteristics are shown to influence fit and findings indicate that fit has an influence on career progress and personal resources.  相似文献

Role strain,engagement and academic achievement in early adolescence

The present study was designed to investigate the relationships between role strains following the transition to secondary school and academic achievement. Academic engagement was hypothesized to mediate between role strain and achievement. The sample consisted of 749 students in their first year of secondary school. Four types of role strain were investigated: parent, teacher, school and peer. Parent and teacher role strains appeared to be negatively associated with academic achievement, as mediated through academic engagement. Parent and school role strain were directly and negatively associated with achievement. Results are discussed in the light of parenting practices and the developmental mismatch hypothesis.  相似文献

Education and training serve as critical elements of advancement of a nation’s economy in transition. The restructuring of the power engineering industry in Russia has called for a fast implementation of new management system in electric power engineering and radical training of professional managers at different levels in organizations. Management training in electric power engineering in Russia has been implemented by (1) preparing highly professional managers in higher education institutions and technical universities and by (2) improving the management skills of practicing managers in technical universities and educational centers of different power energy companies. 文章认为,现代文化是指人们适应现代化本质要求的文化,就是实现文化的现代转型并建设现代价值、形成现代认同、张扬现代精神并进而建设共同信仰的文化。现代文化的主要内核与社会主义核心价值体系和社会主义价值观体系存在着一致性和耦合性。现代社会的现代价值、现代认同、现代精神和文化的现代转型是现代文化及其建设的核心内容和主要任务。现代价值是现代文化的基础,现代认同是现代文化的支撑,现代精神是现代文化的动力,文化现代转型是现代文化建设的途径,建设现代文化的目标就是建设信仰共同体。现代文化的这四个要素相互依存,相互补充,相互作用,紧密联系,现代文化是先进文化发展过程中的一个环节。文章还提出了新疆"疆魂"的概念以及实现文化现代转型的途径。  相似文献
