Abstract Today, it is advantageous for academic libraries to look outside their own organizations to other potential campus and commercial partners when considering new services. This case study describes the planning and implementation of electronic reserves at the University of Kansas Libraries, including the integration of two commercial partners, XanEdu (provider of electronic course packs) and Blackboard (a courseware management package). Docutek was chosen as the electronic reserves software package because it offers copyright management and faxing capabilities (when hosted locally). There is also a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of centralization versus decentralization of different aspects of electronic reserves when multiple library locations are involved. 相似文献

Abstract Library staff created an online tutorial and resource Web page for Docutek electronic reserve (electronic reserve software) users at Philadelphia University. Created as part of a larger training initiative revision conducted by the Instructional Technology Specialist, the online resource supports a faculty-driven model of electronic reserve usage. Additionally, the revised training initiative places an emphasis on using electronic reserve and BlackBoard as complementary tools better serving the educational needs of faculty and students. This article explores the decision-making process involved in the creation of the Web page and the training initiative. 相似文献

Abstract The Library's Circulation Department at Colorado State University-Pueblo began using Docutek's ERes system on a limited basis during fall semester 2002. The nuts and bolts of implementing the ERes system were relatively simple compared to the challenge of revising our reserves policy to accommodate electronic reserves. While the staff realized the necessity of tightening up lax practices that become more glaring in electronic format, convincing the university community proved more challenging. 相似文献
